Distracted driving causes a significant number of traffic accidents each year, making it a crucial area of research to monitor the driver's state and prevent accidents. Although convolutional networks are widely used for detecting driver distraction, they face several issues, such as poor generalization ability, high model capacity, and response latency. To tackle these challenges, this paper introduces a nimble and low-latency algorithm named MViTCNet, which utilizes the MobileViT module for the identification of driver distraction while operating within constrained computational resources. The MViTCNet algorithm extracts local features and constructs an original feature map, which is fused with a global feature representation processed by a Transformer to capture finer details and obtain a larger receptive field. Additionally, the classic convolutional module MBConv is employed to reduce spatial redundancy, and downsampling is used to obtain low-resolution feature maps. By stacking multiple modules to learn more complex feature representations, the network structure increases in depth and width, resulting in a better fit for complex data distributions. Experiments on an embedded hardware platform show that MViTCNet achieves an acceptable trade-off, with an accuracy of 91.04% on the StateFarm dataset and 97.80% on the LDDB dataset at a latency of 28.9±5.3 milliseconds, outperforming existing methods. © 2023 IEEE.

With the continuous development of intelligent transportation technologies such as autonomous driving and navigation, accurate perception of road markings becomes crucial. However, due to limitations in sensor perspectives and obstacles blocking the view, the scanned point cloud of road markings is often incomplete, potentially leading to erroneous decisions in intelligent transportation systems. Therefore, it becomes imperative to recover complete road markings from these incomplete point clouds. This paper proposes a text-guided road marking completion method, which integrates text information with point cloud data using attention mechanisms. By leveraging text information to guide the network in completing road marking point clouds, the proposed method aims to enhance the perception accuracy and completeness of road markings. Experimental validation on road marking datasets demonstrates the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed approach.

With the rapid development of Internet technology and the continuous explosive growth of network traffic, Traffic Engineering (TE), as a viable method for optimizing network traffic distribution and improving network performance, attracts widespread attention from both industry and academia. Software Defined Networks (SDN), which decouples the data plane and the control plane, realizes a flexible routing and improves the TE performance. Existing TE approaches in SDN mainly utilize Reinforcement Learning (RL) methods to learn the mapping relationship between network traffic and routing policies. However, due to the continuous expansion of network size and dynamic changes in traffic, the enlargement of traffic state space hinders RL from converging to the optimal routing policy, leading to a decline in network performance. To address these issues, this paper presents a TE method based on unsupervised contrastive representation and RL. This method first shrinks the original traffic state space by efficiently extracting traffic features through Contrastive Learning (CL), aiding quick convergence of RL. It then uses RL to directly learn the mapping from traffic features to traffic splitting policies. Finally, through numerous experiments on real network traffic and topology, it demonstrates that the proposed TE method can effectively achieve load balancing of network traffic under complex and volatile dynamic traffic demands, thereby enhancing network performance.

In order to solve the problem that the similarity method used in software module clustering can produce arbitrary decision, and the description matrix of dendrogram generated by base clustering in hierarchical clustering combination does not consider more characteristics of entities, a hierarchical clustering combination method based on intuitionistic fuzzy similarity (HCC-IFS) was proposed. In the process of entity similarity calculation, the intuitionistic fuzzy set theory and similarity calculation method are used to provide membership and non-membership attributes for each entity, so as to improve the merging efficiency and solve arbitrary decision problems. In the description matrix representation of base clustering, the absolute and relative features obtained from the dendrogram are used to construct the description matrix, and the generated description matrix is combined. Finally, the proposed algorithm is verified by experiments. Experimental results show that HCC-IFS can produce better clustering results and improve the recovery quality of software architecture.

Smart grids (SGs) rely on home area networks (HANs) and neighborhood area networks (NANs) to ensure efficient power distribution, real-time monitoring, and seamless communication between smart devices. Despite these advantages, the use of public communication channels in HAN and NAN networks introduces critical challenges, such as vulnerability to impersonation, physical tampering, and scalability issues in resource-constrained environments. These issues compromise the stability, reliability, and security of SG environments. Existing protocols often fail to adequately address these challenges, particularly in ensuring resistance to physical tampering of supply lines and impersonation attacks. Additionally, they struggle to minimize the computation, communication, and energy costs associated with securing a resource-constrained SG environment. Therefore, we propose a robust key exchange and tamper-resistant protocol for HAN and NAN networks to address these limitations. The proposed protocol leverages the physical unclonable function (PUF) mechanism to offer physical tampering resistance to smart meters. We validate our protocol formally using the Random or Real (RoR) model, which confirms its security robustness. Additionally, our informal security analysis highlights the protocol’s resilience against impersonation, physical tampering attacks, etc. We analyze and compare the performance of the proposed protocol, which further demonstrates our protocol’s effectiveness and security compared to competing protocols. Moreover, the proposed protocol achieves resource efficiency with 45.99% and 58.85% substantial reductions in computation overhead and energy overhead, respectively, compared to competing protocols. These results showcase the protocol’s enhanced security and practicality for resource-constrained SG environments. © 2014 IEEE.

Capturing the root cause and propagation path of the fault is critical to ensuring the safety and efficiency of industrial processes, especially those that inadequately utilize process knowledge and data. To address this issue, a unified framework integrating knowledge and data for collaborative root cause identification is proposed. First, the knowledge causal graph (KCG) is constructed using expert knowledge and industrial flow charts, providing a preliminary reference for subsequent causality analysis. Next, by replacing the traditional vector autoregression (VAR) model in Granger Causality (GC) with the gated recurrent unit (GRU), a more reliable causal relationship between variables is obtained. Additionally, a causality fusion propagation path identification method (CF-PPI) is designed to identify the root cause and propagation path of the fault, so that the obtained fault propagation path has less redundancy and higher accuracy. Finally, the method is validated using data from the ASHRAE RP-1043 centrifugal chiller.

This paper presents an interactive motion control method based on reinforcement learning, designed to assist children with autism who have social motor impairments through a mirror game intervention. The virtual teacher uses the Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG) algorithm to optimize its actions, guiding the participant to follow a Lissajous trajectory. To ensure safety, a motion-correction mechanism was developed, which automatically adjusts actions when the predicted trajectory surpasses predefined safety boundaries. The reward function considers both the distance between the virtual teacher and the target trajectory, as well as the distance between the virtual teacher and the participant, with dynamic adjustments applied by the motion-correction mechanism. Experimental results demonstrate that the virtual teacher effectively guides the participant towards the target trajectory while adhering to safety constraints. © 2025 IEEE.

To improve the feature representation ability of the YOLOX algorithm and obtain better detection performance, an object detection algorithm based on second-order pooling network and gaussian mixture attention is proposed. Firstly, the second-order pooling network is added after the PAFPN, and the higher-order statistical information is obtained by calculating the covariance matrix between different channels, to enhance the non-linear modeling capability. Secondly, the mixture attention based on the gaussian function is added after the SPP to model global contexts in the spatial and channel dimensions respectively, which improves the network performance with almost no extra parameters. The experimental results show that the detection accuracy of the proposed algorithm on the PASCAL VOC dataset reaches 82.6 %, which is 1.6 % higher than the YOLOX algorithm. © 2022 ACM.

Traffic speed prediction is vital for intelligent transportation systems. However, most existing methods focus on costly static sensors. In contrast, utilizing GPS devices from vehicles as mobile sensors offers a cost-effective means to gather dynamic traffic data. Despite the presence of historical trajectory data, mobile sensor-based traffic prediction remains under-explored. Existing methods often treat trajectories as substitutes for static sensors, missing the full utilization of the spatial-temporal signals within the complete trajectory set. To address this, we propose TrajHGT, a novel trajectory set empowered hypergraph transformer model that captures trafficrelated spatial-temporal features through adaptive attention and fusion mechanisms in both the trajectory hypergraph space and the road graph space. Real dataset experiments demonstrate the superiority of TrajHGT.

Modern microservice systems have become increasingly complicated due to the dynamic and complex interactions and runtime environment. It leads to the system vulnerable to performance issues caused by a variety of reasons, such as the runtime environments, communications, coordinations, or implementations of services. Traces record the detailed execution process of a request through the system and have been widely used in performance issues diagnosis in microservice systems. By identifying the execution processes and attribute value combinations that are common in anomalous traces but rare in normal traces, engineers may localize the root cause of a performance issue into a smaller scope. However, due to the complex structure of traces and the large number of attribute combinations, it is challenging to find the root cause from the huge search space. In this paper, we propose TraceContrast, a trace-based multidimensional root cause localization approach. TraceContrast uses a sequence representation to describe the complex structure of a trace with attributes of each span. Based on the representation, it combines contrast sequential pattern mining and spectrum analysis to localize multidimensional root causes efficiently. Experimental studies on a widely used microservice benchmark show that TraceContrast outperforms existing approaches in both multidimensional and instance-dimensional root cause localization with significant accuracy advantages. Moreover, Trace-Contrast is efficient and its efficiency can be further improved by parallel execution.
