We present a third version of the PraK system designed around an effective text-image and image-image search model. The system integrates sub-image search options for localized context search for CLIP and image color/texture and interfaces tailored to specific task types. A user study shows the benefits of sub-image search in homogeneous video collections. We further enhance the user experience of the PraK framework by re-designing the frontend and introducing task-specific views. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Intuitive User-Guided Portrait Image Editing with Asymmetric Conditional GAN

We propose PortraitACG, a novel framework for user-guided portrait image editing that leverages an asymmetric conditional generative adversarial network (GAN), which supports the fine-grained editing of geometries, colors, lights, and shadows using a single neural network model. Existing conditional GAN-based approaches usually feed the same conditional information into generators and discriminators, which is sub-optimal because these two modules are designed for different purposes. To facilitate flexible user-guided editing, we propose a novel asymmetric conditional GAN, where the generators take the transformed conditional inputs, such as edge maps, color palettes, sliders, and masks, that can be directly edited by the user, and the discriminators take the conditional inputs in a way that can guide controllable image generation more effectively. This allows image editing operations to be performed in a simpler and more intuitive manner. For example, the user can directly use a color palette to specify the desired colors of hair, skin, eyes, lips, and background and use a slider to blend colors. Moreover, users can edit the lights and shadows by modifying their corresponding masks.

Advances in intensive care have improved the survival rate of patients with severe acute brain injury, but diagnostic errors for patients with disorders of consciousness are still high. Accurate diagnosis of these patients is very important because effective treatment can vary depending on the diagnosis. In this study, we propose a framework for classifying unresponsive wakefulness syndrome and minimally conscious state, focusing on awareness. In particular, power spectral density and common spatial patterns were used together, considering that spatial information is a key feature in consciousness. The 16 patients with unresponsive wakefulness syndrome and 14 with minimally conscious state underwent resting-state electroencephalography measurements. In addition, we compared the performance by utilizing each frequency (delta, theta, alpha, beta, gamma bands) related to consciousness. As a result, the highest accuracy of 95.06% was achieved by the EEGNet classifier, especially in the beta frequency band. We demonstrated that spatial information is very important in consciousness, as we observed that classification performance improved when common spatial patterns were used. These results provide insight into various frameworks for diagnosing patients with disorders of consciousness and may help patients survive by increasing the diagnosis rate in the future. © 2025 IEEE.

A new strategy of direct access for speaker identification system based on classification

In this paper, we present a new direct access strategy for speaker identification system. DAMClass is a method for direct access strategy that speeds up the identification process without decreasing the identification rate drastically. This proposed method uses speaker classification strategy based on human voice's original characteristics, such as pitch, flatness, brightness, and roll off. DAMClass decomposes available dataset into smaller sub-datasets in the form of classes or buckets based on the similarity of speaker's original characteristics. DAMClass builds speaker dataset index based on range-based indexing of direct access facility and uses nearest neighbor search, range-based searching and multiclass-SVM mapping as its access method. Experiments show that the direct access strategy with multiclass-SVM algorithm outperforms the indexing accuracy of range-based indexing and nearest neighbor for one to nine percent. DAMClass is shown to speed up the identification process 16 times faster than sequential access method with 91.05% indexing accuracy. © 2015 Universitas Ahmad Dahlan.

research software has been categorized in different contexts to serve different goals. We start with a look at what research software is, before we discuss the purpose of research software categories. We propose a multi-dimensional categorization of research software. We present a template for characterizing such categories. As selected dimensions, we present our proposed role-based, readiness-based, developer-based, and dissemination-based categories. Since our work has been inspired by various previous efforts to categorize research software, we discuss them as related works. We characterize all these categories via the previously introduced template, to enable a systematic comparison. We report on the multi-dimensional categorization of selected research software examples. © 1999-2011 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose to present program code forms as XML and developed associated XML definition (DTD). The XML representations include Grammar, Token Stream and Abstract Syntax Tree (AST) which are provided by their source code. We built a software library to help serializing the XML representations of these computer program artifacts. We also defined characteristics of process related to each object representation form in order to obtain the optimal process. We successfully tested the library for detecting code smell and got the result. From this work we found that XML is represented to portray source code in a single specification for any programming languages based on their grammar as well as token stream and AST elements. © 2011 IEEE.

An Open Source software (OSS) project can be considered as a new type of business entity involving various roles and stakeholders, e.g., project managers, developers, and users, who apply individual methods. The project managers have the responsibility to manage the OSS development in a way that the OSS product can be delivered to the customers in time and with good quality. This responsibility is challenging, because the heterogeneity of the data collected and analyzed from different stakeholders leads to the complexity of efforts of the project managers to measure and manage OSS projects. In this paper, we propose a measurement framework (OSMF) to enable the project managers to collect and analyze process data from OSS projects efficiently. Initial results show that OSMF can help project managers to manage OSS business processes more efficient, hence improve the decision on OSS project quality. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

To support PrefixSpan scalability, there exits two problems regarding its implementation in MapReduce framework. The first problem is related to parsing & analyzing big data, while the second one is related to managing projected databases. In this paper, we propose two methods i.e. Multiple MapReduce and Derivative Projected database to overcome the first and the second problems. Our experiments show that those proposed method can significantly reduce execution time in supporting the scalability of PrefixSpan. © 2015 IEEE.

In view of the problems exists in the operation and maintenance work of information system, such as variety of hardware, complexity of business system structure, lack of automatic monitor and troubleshooting measures. In order to improve efficiency of operation and maintenance, and to keep healthy operation of the information system, a automation operation and maintenance service platform of coal mine information systems was designed. The platform uses automated operation and maintenance tools Zabbix, real-time monitor running status and resource consumption of the servers, network devices, and applications, and uses variety of alarm methods to provide fault alert. The fault diagnosis and repair strategy is designed to achieve active operation and maintenance. The knowledge base of fault disposal methods based on Elasticsearch was designed, intelligent matching and push fault diagnosis and handle method to the maintainers, which improves the efficiency of fault repair. © 2023 IEEE.
