To solve the problem that it is difficult to accurately estimate the coherent parameters of distributed aperture radar under the condition of low signal-to-noise ratio, a distributed coherent synthesis method based on two-stage compensation is proposed in this paper. This method utilizes prior information such as system layout, beam pointing, and inertial navigation station location to perform coarse alignment of echoes at the first stage in time, and then uses cross-correlation method to estimate coherent parameters of delay and phase within a small range, and perform precise compensation of time and phase at the second stage, so as to realize the coherent synthesis of multiple radar echoes. Experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively realize distributed coherent synthesis processing under low signal-to-noise ratio. © 2024 IEEE.

Despite the rapid progress of large language models (LLMs), their task performance remains sensitive to prompt design. Recent studies have explored leveraging the LLM itself as an optimizer to identify optimal prompts that maximize task accuracy. However, when evaluating prompts, such approaches heavily rely on elusive manually annotated gold labels to calculate task accuracy for each candidate prompt, which hinders its generality. To overcome the limitation, this work proposes GLaPE, a gold label-agnostic prompt evaluation method to alleviate dependence on gold labels. GLaPE is composed of two critical aspects: self-consistency evaluation of a single prompt and mutual-consistency refinement across multiple prompts. Experimental results on 8 widely-recognized reasoning tasks demonstrate that GLaPE can produce more effective prompts, achieving performance comparable to those derived from manually annotated gold labels. Analysis shows that GLaPE provides reliable evaluations aligned with accuracy, even in the absence of gold labels. Diffusion-Weighted Imaging (DWI) is a significant technique for studying white matter. However, it suffers from low-resolution obstacles in clinical settings. Post-acquisition Super-Resolution (SR) can enhance the resolution of DWIs and has gained increasing research interest in recent years. An advanced generative model, the Diffusion Model (DM), exhibits particularly promising performance in image SR. However, effective conditions are required to bootstrap the DM for DWI SR. To this end, we proposed the first DM-based DWI SR model with two effective conditions based on low-solution DWIs and Track Density Imaging (TDI) maps, which possess rich high-resolution prior knowledge Additionally, we consider another condition based on features from low-resolution DWIs. These two conditions are integrated into our model, which comprises three components: DWI Resolution Enhancer (DRE), DWI Feature Extractor (DFE), and TDI Feature Extractor (TFE). DRE combines low-resolution DWI features from DFE with TDI features from TFE to progressively generate high-resolution DWIs. We performed extensive experiments on DWIs of normal subjects from human connectome projects and patients with Parkinson’s disease. The results demonstrate that our model outperforms existing DWI SR models, both qualitatively and quantitatively. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Segment Anything Model (SAM) has recently gained much attention for its outstanding generalization to unseen data and tasks. Despite its promising prospect, the vulnerabilities of SAM, especially to universal adversarial perturbation (UAP) have not been thoroughly investigated yet. In this paper, we propose DarkSAM, the first prompt-free universal attack framework against SAM, including a semantic decoupling-based spatial attack and a texture distortion-based frequency attack. We first divide the output of SAM into foreground and background. Then, we design a shadow target strategy to obtain the semantic blueprint of the image as the attack target. DarkSAM is dedicated to fooling SAM by extracting and destroying crucial object features from images in both spatial and frequency domains. In the spatial domain, we disrupt the semantics of both the foreground and background in the image to confuse SAM. In the frequency domain, we further enhance the attack effectiveness by distorting the high-frequency components (i.e., texture information) of the image. Consequently, with a single UAP, DarkSAM renders SAM incapable of segmenting objects across diverse images with varying prompts. Experimental results on four datasets for SAM and its two variant models demonstrate the powerful attack capability and transferability of DarkSAM. Digital media are a means to deliver products and services, but also a channel to interact with consumers and a source of information on users' preferences. data shared by customers on the web, the User-Generated Content (UGC), can give entrepreneurs a detailed perspective of the market. This work examines an application of Natural Language Processing techniques on UGC to discover insights on users' opinions. We collected more than 13.000 reviews of software from digital stores and review website to gather information on the customers' perspective and their response to a given marketing strategy in two case studies on digital product's launch. The objective is to give support to two Italian companies in the process of business model development through data-driven evidence. We aim to discover who are the users and which are their needs using a lexicon-based approach to mine unstructured text. The results provide qualitative and quantitative descriptions of the market segments. We propose a method to examine UGC and to explore customers' behavior on social media. The findings helped managers for the development of their business model, enhancing an informed decision-making process. © The Author(s), 2023. Published by Cambridge University Press.

Object detection using convolutional neural networks (CNNs) has achieved high performance and achieved state-of-the-art results with natural images. Compared to natural images, medical images present several challenges for lesion detection. First, the sizes of lesions vary tremendously, from several millimeters to several centimeters. Scale variations significantly affect lesion detection accuracy, especially for the detection of small lesions. Moreover, the effective extraction of temporal and spatial features from multi-phase CT images is also an important issue. In this paper, we propose a group-based deep layer aggregation method with multiphase attention for liver lesion detection in multi-phase CT images. The method, which is called MSPA-DLA++, is a backbone feature extraction network for anchor-free liver lesion detection in multi-phase CT images that addresses scale variations and extracts hidden features from such images. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated on public datasets (LiTS2017) and our private multiphase dataset. The results of the experiments show that MSPA-DLA++ can improve upon the performance of state-of-the-art networks by approximately 3.7%. © 2024 International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) and IOS Press.

COVID-19 virus is a major worldwide pandemic that is growing at a fast pace throughout the world. The usual approach for diagnosing COVID-19 is the use of a real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) based nucleic acid test. However, RT-PCR has lower sensitivity in the early phases of COVID-19 detection. Recent studies have indicated that X-ray images may be useful throughout the early detection of the virus. Human screening has been shown to be cost-effective, susceptible to mistakes, and time-demanding, which has sparked an interest in using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to automate the process. CNNs, on the other hand, fail to view the exact placement of features as advantageous in medical imaging. Furthermore, for successful training and prediction, CNNs need a huge quantity of datasets. CNNs are rapidly reducing picture resolution, resulting in worsening accuracy in classification. We used newly created capsule networks (CapsNets) in our study to circumvent these disadvantages. The primary contribution is to improve the identification of SARS-CoV-2 with images obtained from X-ray by coupling capsule network with a kernel support vector machine (KSVM). The technique was evaluated using a publicly available dataset, and the proposed model shows that the accuracy of the CapsNet-KSVM based model is improved by 94.6% accuracy, 95% sensitivity, and 98% specificity, which outperforms the traditional CNN and other existing ensemble models. The proposed CapsNet-KSVM based system can be employed to identify the presence of COVID-19 in the human body using X-ray images. © 2022 IEEE.

Urban scenes are full of street entities with sign boards. Therefore, in autonomous driving, street view text spotting techniques will play a significant role in the precise understanding of surrounding scenes during driving, because texts contained in the images usually provide important clues for accurate image understanding, while it is often ambiguous for existing computer vision algorithms to understand scene images without texts. In this work, we propose a Multi-Segmentation network for character-level scene Text Detection (MSTD). The MSTD introduces a densely connected atrous spatial pyramid pooling module to enlarge the receptive field of the feature extraction layer, so as to localize long as well as large-sized text instances. Moreover, it devises a double segmentation subnetwork to utilize two independent but inherently complementary losses to co-optimize the network and increase the reliability of the confidence scores in predicting the text/nontext areas. With the character instances detected by the MSTD, one can easily perform scene text spotting with classic object recognition networks such as ResNet and DenseNet. We carried out extensive experiments on nine scene text datasets to demonstrate the outstanding performance of the MSTD on character-level and line-level text instance localization and scene text recognition, where the MSTD significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art scene text detection methods and the sequence-to-sequence-learning-based scene text recognizers. © 2020 IEEE.

The fusion of multimodal medical data is crucial for helping doctors make accurate treatment decisions. For example, combining Computed Tomography Pulmonary Angiography (CTPA) with Electronic Health Records (EHR) can significantly improve the accuracy of Pulmonary Embolism (PE) detection, thereby increasing patient survival rates. Although multimodal learning has advantages in PE diagnosis, the heterogeneity of multimodal data poses a significant challenge to accurate diagnosis. The natural semantic and structural differences between data modalities make it difficult to effectively integrate their information. In addition, within a single modality, the existence of redundant and irrelevant information introduces unnecessary variability, making the data more complex, and making stable diagnosis challenging. To address these issues, we propose a new framework called CCLNet, which includes a contrastive learning component for addressing inter-modality heterogeneity and a causal learning component for handling intra-modality heterogeneity. Specifically, we achieve precise alignment between visual and tabular modalities by using global-level information to soften labels during contrastive learning. In addition, by using causal intervention methods to eliminate the influence of heterogeneous factors within the modality, we can accurately reveal the causal relationship between features and targets, thereby improving the accuracy and stability of the model.
