Hair editing is a critical image synthesis task that aims to edit hair color and hairstyle using text descriptions or reference images, while preserving irrelevant attributes (e.g., identity, background, cloth). Many existing methods are based on StyleGAN to address this task. However, due to the limited spatial distribution of StyleGAN, it struggles with multiple hair color editing and facial preservation. Considering the advancements in diffusion models, we utilize Latent Diffusion Models (LDMs) for hairstyle editing. Our approach introduces Multi-stage Hairstyle Blend (MHB), effectively separating control of hair color and hairstyle in diffusion latent space. Additionally, we train a warping module to align the hair color with the target region. To further enhance multi-color hairstyle editing, we fine-tuned a CLIP model using a multi-color hairstyle dataset. Our method not only tackles the complexity of multi-color hairstyles but also addresses the challenge of preserving original colors during diffusion editing. Extensive experiments showcase the superiority of our method in editing multi-color hairstyles while preserving facial attributes given textual descriptions and reference images. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. Disentangling Heterogeneous Knowledge Concept Embedding for Cognitive Diagnosis on Untested Knowledge

Cognitive diagnosis is a fundamental and critical task in learning assessment, which aims to infer students’ proficiency on knowledge concepts from their response logs. Current works assume each knowledge concept will certainly be tested and covered by multiple exercises. However, whether online or offline courses, it’s hardly feasible to completely cover all knowledge concepts in several exercises. Restricted tests lead to undiscovered knowledge deficits, especially untested knowledge concepts(UKCs). In this paper, we propose a novel framework for Cognitive Diagnosis called Disentangling Heterogeneous Knowledge Cognitive Diagnosis(DisKCD) on untested knowledge. Specifically, we leverage course grades, exercise questions, and learning resources to learn the potential representations of students, exercises, and knowledge concepts. In particular, knowledge concepts are disentangled into tested and untested based on the limiting actual exercises. We construct a heterogeneous relation graph network via students, exercises, tested knowledge concepts(TKCs), and UKCs. Then, through a hierarchical heterogeneous message-passing mechanism, the fine-grained relations are incorporated into the embeddings of the entities. Finally, the embeddings will be applied to multiple existing cognitive diagnosis models to infer students’ proficiency on UKCs. Experimental results on real-world datasets show that the proposed model can effectively improve the performance of the task of diagnosing students’ proficiency on UKCs. This article presents a novel efficient method for gridless line spectrum estimation problems with single snapshot and sparse signals, namely the gradient descent least-squares (GDLS) method. Conventional single-snapshot (a.k.a. single-measure vector or SMV) line spectrum estimation methods either rely on smoothing techniques that sacrifice the range and/or azimuth resolution or adopt the sparsity constraint and utilize the compressed sensing (CS) method by defining prior grids and resulting in the off-grid problem. Recently emerged atomic norm minimization (ANM) methods achieved gridless SMV line spectrum estimation, but its computational complexity is extremely high;thus, it is practically infeasible in real applications with large problem scales. Our proposed GDLS method reformulates the line spectrum estimations problem into a least-squares (LSs) estimation problem and solves the corresponding objective function via a gradient descent algorithm in an iterative fashion with efficiency. The convergence guarantee, computational complexity, and performance analysis for evenly distributed antenna array cases are discussed in this article. Numerical simulations show that the proposed GDLS algorithm outperforms the state-of-the-art methods, for example, CS and ANM, in terms of estimation performances. It can completely avoid the off-grid problem, and its computational complexity is significantly lower than ANM. Our method has been tested in tomographic SAR (TomoSAR) imaging applications via simulated and real experimental data. Results show the great potential of the proposed method in terms of better cloud point performance and eliminating the gridding effect. © 1980-2012 IEEE.

To improve the insufficient generalization and poor cross-domain capability of the existing direct cross-dataset person re-identification methods,a cross-domain person re-identification method combining feature concatenation and attention(FCANet) is *** deep features of the network are concatenated to complement the feature information and obtain discriminatively feature,and the position attention module is introduced to enhance the data feature representation capability of the cross-domain task,using the joint training network of label smooth cross-entropy loss and triplet loss,model training in the source domain,and directly deploy to the target domain for *** verify the performance of the proposed method,it was experimented on three public datasets of Market1501,DukeMTMC-reID and MSMT17,which mAP and Rank1can reach 51.4%and 62.7% on *** results show that the proposed method has good performance in improving the generalization of cross-domain tasks,and the recognition accuracy outperforms the domain generalization algorithms of comparison.

When matching similarity among pedestrians in images, pedestrian re-identification algorithms are often disturbed by occlusions. A typical tactic is to improve the robustness of occlusion features in the model. However, this approach neglects the noise introduced by other pedestrians in the image, leading to limited learning of relevant information between images. To address these issues, this paper introduces a pedestrian re-identification model that leverages perception-enhanced and attention mechanisms. By enhancing the perception of non-pedestrian noise and erasing non-pedestrian features, we then employ a cross-attention mechanism to subtly embed global and local features for finer feature recognition. Finally, through context attention, we learn the interaction between pedestrian images to improve re-identification accuracy. Results from studies performed on the Market-1501, CUHK03-D, and Duke-ReID datasets indicate that the suggested model surpasses leading contemporary models regarding Rank-1 scores and mean Average Precision (mAP), while maintaining good robustness. © 2024 IEEE.

There are some defects on the surface of steel that are difficult to detect, so we propose an improved algorithm based on YOLOv8 for detecting defects that are difficult to be detected. This improvement includes the introduction of an SPD module to minimize the problem of information loss due to downsampling;the addition of a small object detection head combined with EMA attention to further enhance the detection capabilities for small targets;the use of BiFPN to replace the original PANet, applying different weights to different features to strengthen feature fusion. Experiments were conducted on the NEU-DET dataset, and the algorithm improved mAP to 80.2%, an improvement of 3.9% over the baseline model. © 2024 IEEE.

In addressing issues like an excessive number of network parameters and the loss of fine texture details in image super-resolution reconstruction approaches based on diffusion models, this passage introduces a novel image super-resolution model (FELSDiff). This model relies on the fusion of diffusion models, feature extraction, and latent space. FELSDiff utilizes a Pre-trained CNN for initial super-resolution to extract the primary low-band features and part high-band features of the image. The preliminary super-resolved image is then concatenated as a condition to this model. We introduce a cross-attention mechanism guided by the high-band features of the preliminary super-resolved image to enhance the network's feature extraction capability and obtain more effective features. In the U-Net structure, we incorporate a latent space strategy, enabling the model's training and inference processes to be conducted in the latent space, thereby reducing the number of network parameters. Experimental results on multiple standard datasets indicate that this method outperforms other advanced methods overall. © 2024 IEEE.

Face recognition (FR) technology has numerous applications in artificial intelligence including biometrics, security,authentication, law enforcement, and surveillance. Deep learning (DL) models, notably convolutional neuralnetworks (CNNs), have shown promising results in the field of FR. However CNNs are easily fooled since theydo not encode position and orientation correlations between features. Hinton et al. envisioned Capsule Networksas a more robust design capable of retaining pose information and spatial correlations to recognize objects morelike the brain does. Lower-level capsules hold 8-dimensional vectors of attributes like position, hue, texture, andso on, which are routed to higher-level capsules via a new routing by agreement algorithm. This provides capsulenetworks with viewpoint invariance, which has previously evaded CNNs. This research presents a FR model basedon capsule networks that was tested using the LFW dataset, COMSATS face dataset, and own acquired photos usingcameras measuring 128 × 128 pixels, 40 × 40 pixels, and 30 × 30 pixels. The trained model outperforms state-ofthe-art algorithms, achieving 95.82% test accuracy and performing well on unseen faces that have been blurred orrotated. Additionally, the suggested model outperformed the recently released approaches on the COMSATS facedataset, achieving a high accuracy of 92.47%. Based on the results of this research as well as previous results, capsulenetworks perform better than deeper CNNs on unobserved altered data because of their special equivarianceproperties.
