In this paper, we study how to secure the platooning of autonomous vehicles when an unknown vehicle is under attack and bounded system uncertainties exist. For the attacked vehicle, its position and speed measurements from GPS can be manipulated arbitrarily by a malicious attacker. First, to find out which vehicle is under attack, two detectors are proposed by using the relative measurements (by camera or radar) and the local innovation obtained through measurements from neighboring vehicles. Then, based on the results of the detectors, we design a local state observer for each vehicle by applying a saturation method to the measurement innovation. Moreover, based on the neighbor state estimates provided by the observer, a distributed controller is proposed to achieve the consensus in vehicle speed and keep fixed desired distance between two neighboring vehicles. The estimation error by the observer and the platooning error by the controller are shown to be asymptotically upper bounded under certain *** effectiveness of the proposed methods is also evaluated in numerical simulations. Target-enclosing affine formation control of two-layer networked spacecraft with collision avoidance

This paper addresses a target-enclosing problem for multiple spacecraft systems by proposing a two-layer affine formation control strategy. Compared with the existing methods,the adopted two-layer network structure in this paper is generally directed, which is suitable for practical space missions. Firstly, distributed finite-time sliding-mode estimators and formation controllers in both layers are designed separately to improve the flexibility of the formation control system. By introducing the properties of affine transformation into formation control protocol design,the controllers can be used to track different time-varying target formation patterns. Besides, multilayer time-varying encirclements can be achieved with particular shapes to surround the moving target. In the sequel, by integrating adaptive neural networks and specialized artificial potential functions into backstepping controllers, the problems of uncertain Euler-Lagrange models, collision avoidance as well as formation reconfiguration are solved simultaneously. The stability of the proposed controllers is verified by the Lyapunov direct method. Finally, two simulation examples of triangle formation and more complex hexagon formation are presented to illustrate the feasibility of the theoretical results.

This paper aims to present the development of an operational, monitoring, as well as high-resolution local-scale meteorological and air quality forecasting information system for West Macedonia region, Hellas, in a dynamic, easily accessible and user-friendly way. The system, having been operated by the laboratory of Atmospheric Pollution and Environmental Physics since 2002, has been in a continuous process of improvement. It consists of a structured system fully accessible and manipulable by users, as well as a system for accessing and managing measurement results in a direct and dynamic way. Thus, updates of the weather and air pollution forecast for the West Macedonia region are provided for the next seven days based on current day information. The forecasts are displayed through dynamic-interactive web charts, whereas there is also a visual illustration of the atmospheric pollution of the region in a map, using images and animation images. The application has been developed using state of the art web technologies (Ajax, Google Maps, etc.) and under an open-source software philosophy, allowing users to update the code according to their needs. Improved Synthesis of Nondeterministic Publicly-Known Edit Functions for Opacity Enforcement

In this paper, we investigate the synthesis problem of edit functions for opacity enforcement in systems modelled as partially-observed finite-state automata. For better plausible deniability for the edit functions, in cases where the intruder may learn/know their existence, a synthesis problem for nondeterministic edit functions under a publicly-known setting was introduced in the literature, but not yet fully solved. In light of this, we revisit the publicly-known edit mechanism by proposing a sound and complete approach for solving the synthesis problem of nondeterministic publicly-known edit functions. For practical applications, the edit function is assumed to have limited erasure and insertion ability. Our approach is based on a new labelled finite-state structure, and results in wider applicability than previously-proposed in the literature. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Multimodal information-based broad and deep learning model（MIBDL） for emotion understanding is proposed, in which facial expression and body gesture are used to achieve emotional states recognition for emotion understanding. It aims to understand coexistence multimodal information in human-robot interaction by using different processing methods of deep network and broad network, which obtains the features of depth and width dimensions. Moreover, random mapping in the initial broad learning network could cause information loss and its shallow layer network is difficult to cope with complex tasks. To address this problem, we use principal component analysis to generate the nodes of the broad learning, and the stacked broad learning network is adapted to make it easier for the existing broad learning networks to cope with complex tasks by creating deep variations of the existing network. To verify the effectiveness of the proposal, experiments completed on benchmark database of spontaneous emotion expressions are developed, and experimental results show that the proposal outperforms the state-of-theart methods. According to the simulation experiments on the FABO database, by using the proposed method, the multimodal recognition rate is 17,54%, 1.24%, and 0.23% higher than those of the temporal normalized motion and appearance features（TN）,the multi-channel CNN（MCCNN）, and the hierarchical classification fusion strategy（HCFS）, respectively.

Holistic privacy for electricity, water, and natural gas metering in next generation smart homes

In smart electricity grids, High Time-Granularity (HTG) electricity usage data can be de-composed into individual appliance load signatures via Non-Intrusive Appliance Load Monitoring (NIALM) tech-niques, which can be exploited to expose appliance usage profiles. Various methods ranging from load shaping to noise addition and data aggregation have been proposed to mitigate this problem. However, with the growing scarcity of natural resources, utilities other than electricity, such as water and natural gas, have also begun to be subject to HTG metering, which creates privacy issues similar to that of electricity. Therefore, employing privacy protection counter measures for electricity usage only is ineffective for appliances that utilize additional/other metered resources. As such, existing privacy counter measures and metrics need to be reevaluated to address not only electricity, but also any other resource that is metered. Furthermore, a holistic privacy protection approach for all metered resources must be adopted as the information leak from any of the resources has a potential to render the privacy preserving counter measures for all the other resources futile. This paper introduces the privacy preservation problem for multiple HTG metered resources and explores potential solutions for its mitigation. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper deals with the development of an adaptive robust controller for an Unmanned Aircraft System with variable mass. The goal is to improve trajectory tracking and energy performance while the aircraft mass is gradually reducing due to payload release. To improve the trajectory tracking performance, we propose an algorithm that merges the concepts of least squares method and sliding mode observer for the estimation of the vehicle mass. The nonlinear observer estimates the linear velocities and accelerations, which are further used to obtain the vehicle mass. A robust adaptive pole placement controller based on the Attractive Ellipsoid Method uses this estimation to update the controllers gains due to the mass variation. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm for performing aerial transportation and deployment of payloads, we present a numerical example comparing the performance of the proposed method with respect to using Proportional Derivative controllers as well as Robust controllers. © 2021 Chinese Automatic control Society and John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd

Passive acoustic monitoring is emerging as a promising solution to the urgent, global need for new biodiversity assessment methods. The ecological relevance of the soundscape is increasingly recognised, and the affordability of robust hardware for remote audio recording is stimulating international interest in the potential for acoustic methods for biodiversity *** scale of the data involved requires automated methods,however, the development of acoustic sensor networks capable of sampling the soundscape across time and space and relaying the data to an accessible storage location remains a significant technical challenge, with power management at its core. Recording and transmitting large quantities of audio data is power intensive,hampering long-term deployment in remote, off-grid locations of key ecological interest. Rather than transmitting heavy audio data, in this paper, we propose a low-cost and energy efficient wireless acoustic sensor network integrated with edge computing structure for remote acoustic monitoring and in situ *** and computation of acoustic indices are carried out directly on edge devices built from low noise primo condenser microphones and Teensy microcontrollers, using internal FFT hardware support. Resultant indices are transmitted over a ZigBee-based wireless mesh network to a destination *** tests of audio quality, indices computation and power consumption demonstrate acoustic equivalence and significant power savings over current solutions.

This paper incorporates a continuous-type network flexibility into chance constrained economic dispatch (CCED). In the proposed model, both power generations and line susceptances are continuous variables to minimize the expected generation cost and guarantee a low probability of constraint violation in terms of generations and line flows under renewable uncertainties. From the analytical form of CCED, we figure out the mechanism of network flexibility against uncertainties-while renewable uncertainties shrink the usable line capacities and aggravate transmission congestion, network flexibility mitigates congestion by re-routing the base-case line flows and reducing the line capacity shrinkage caused by uncertainties. Further, we propose an alternate iteration solver for this problem. By duality theory, we set up a master problem in the form of second-order cone programming to optimize generation dispatch scheme and a subproblem in the form of linear programming to optimize line susceptances. A satisfactory solution can be obtained efficiently by alternately solving these two problems. The proposed method applies to both Gaussian uncertainty and non-Gaussian uncertainty by means of Gaussian mixture model. The case studies on the IEEE 14-bus system and IEEE 118-bus system suggest that network flexibility can significantly improve operational economy while ensuring security under uncertainties. © 2021, CC BY.

The prediction and forecasting of faults occurring in photovoltaic (PV) system is one of the important aspect to escalate the reliability, output power generation, proficiency, lifetime and effectiveness of overall system. In this article, the behavior of PV array is studied under various faulty circumstances and new approach has offered for the better performance assessment of PV array. This approach is established on the analysis of peculiarities displayed by voltage power (V-P) and voltage-current (V-I) characteristics curves of PV array under different faulty conditions. The proposed technique can be used to identify and classify the five common faults in PV system. These progressive faults (includes open circuit, line-to-line, partial shading, degradation and bridging faults) have been occurred at the basic components of PV cell and at the connection point between PV modules. The characteristic curves under normal and faulty conditions have been compared by utilizing Matlab/Simulink environment. Hence, the suggested method can be utilized to determine the important fact about the health PV array. © 2020 IEEE.
