Human Activity Recognition (HAR) is a research area that involves wearable devices integrating inertial and/or physiological sensors to classify human actions and status across various application domains, such as healthcare, sports, industry, and entertainment. However, executing HAR algorithms on remote devices or the cloud can lead to issues such as latency, bandwidth requirements, and energy consumption. Transitioning towards Edge HAR can be a more effective and versatile solution, overcoming the challenges of traditional HAR techniques. We present a novel HAR model for computation on edge devices: we design a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) Deep Learning approach and compare its performance with cloud-computing HAR models. The paper is accompanied by a self-collected dataset. The experiments on this dataset demonstrate that the proposed edge computing model achieves promising results (\geq 92 %) in terms of Precision, Recall, and Fl-score. Furthermore, the model exhibits significantly reduced latency, with only 117 ms, and utilizes minimal memory, with a peak of 18.8 Kb RAM and 956 Kb Flash memory. © 2023 IEEE.

Nowadays, the Internet of Things (IoT) system is vulnerable to spoofing attacks that can easily where attackers can easily pose as a legal entity of the network. A 'spoofing attack' refers to a type of cyber-attack when an attacker purposefully impersonates or masquerades as someone or something else to deceive the target or obtain unauthorized access to systems, information, or resources. In such attacks, the attacker alters their name, IP address, or other attributes to fool the victim into thinking they are engaging with a legitimate entity. Spoofing attacks can take place via a variety of channels, including, ARP and DNS spoofing. Therefore. Spoofing attacks can have serious consequences. We proposed a new approach based on three machine learning models LightGBM, Gradient Boost, and XGBoost to classify attacks on spoofing, we used Chi-square to select the best features to get the highest performance, and we demonstrated that the results using Chi-square achieved higher results than without Chi-square and improved the result with a rate three percent of accuracy. In terms of results, LightGBM outperformed other models by achieving 89%, 91 %, 87 %, and 89 % for accuracy, precision, recall, and f1-score, respectively. This shows the potential and efficiency of Chi-square to achieve the best performance by selecting the best features, thus providing a secure system and identifying cyber-attacks on systems. © 2023 IEEE.

The kidneys have the important function of filtering waste products and toxins from the blood in the human body. Any problems affecting the kidneys can potentially impact their efficiency and overall function. Kidney Tumor (KT) is a disease that specifically affects kidney cells and causes the abnormal growth of tissue in one or both kidneys. Assessing the risk of developing a kidney tumor and identifying the key factors that contribute to this risk are crucial for ensuring patient well-being. Additionally, this information assists doctors and specialists in making faster and more accurate diagnoses, determining appropriate treatment methods, and potentially influencing the course of the disease to minimize its severity and impact. Machine learning algorithms have recently been introduced to evaluate disease risks, and in this study, we specifically focus on examining the risk of kidney tumor development and investigating the influencing factors. We employed a logistic regression model to predict if a patient is at risk of developing a kidney tumor or not, and further categorized the samples into high-risk and low-risk groups. Our model was trained and tested using a unique dataset obtained from the (KAUH) hospital in Jordan, consisting of well-balanced metadata from 120 patients with kidney issues. Our work demonstrated accuracy results ranging from 90% to 98%. Ultimately, specialists can utilize our model as an additional tool to enhance the speed and accuracy of patient diagnoses © 2023 IEEE.

This paper searches into the convergence of such ad-vanced techniques with architectures like DenseNet201, VGG16, InceptionResNetV2, and NasNetMobile. Our focus centers on harnessing deep learning capabilities for the precise detection of eye ailments. Preliminary findings spotlight a notable uplift in diagnostic precision. Among the tested algorithms, the Nas-NetMobile architecture emerged superior, boasting an impressive accuracy rate of 92% on the chosen dataset. Through this work, we extend a significant advancement in the realm of automated eye disease diagnosis, potentially equipping medical professionals with sharper, swifter diagnostic tools. The outcomes presented herein could play a seminal role in sculpting more sophisticated and precise diagnostic approaches within ophthalmology. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper introduces an innovative Energy Management System (EMS) designed to reduce the cost of energy flows in a Hybrid Renewable Energy System (HRES) connected to a grid with an Energy Storage System (ESS) based on lithium-ion electric batteries. This study considers power purchase and sale tariffs, as well as costs associated with the battery wear contingent upon its State of Charge (SoC). The proposed EMS combines three Fuzzy Logic Controllers (FLCs) arranged in a cascade to regulate battery intensity with a Hysteresis-Based Calculation algorithm (HBC) in a supervisory control hierarchy to establish charge and discharge setpoints. Its goal is to minimise the energy flow costs at the current instant while maintaining the power supply to the loads. Two generation and consumption scenarios were simulated, one of which was a test case for examining all possible power-balanced situations. The results were compared with the optimal costs obtained by the Bellman-Ford algorithm (BFA). This research concludes that the intelligent EMS proposed is reliable in reducing the operating costs of the HRES, and it posits itself as a more reliable and computationally cost-effective alternative to the optimisation techniques. © 2024, The Authors. Immunotherapy utilizes the potential of the patient's immune system to fight disease. T-lymphocytes have become the central focus of the immune system in the fight against cancer. One of the fundamental studies in immunotherapy is how to accurately identify various types of immune cells. Therefore, the study of immune-related cells will be an important reference for the treatment of COVID19 or other related diseases. In this paper, a series of experiments were conducted with COVID-19 patients as the starting point to design a strategy to identify the important subtypes of CD$4^{+}$T cells. In this paper, an intelligent machine learning algorithm is proposed according to the results of different experiments of linear and nonlinear dimension reduction algorithms, integrating the important characteristics of these two algorithms and improving the performance. Our experimental results show that the algorithm designed based on the front-end experiments can effectively distinguish the important lymphocytes. The proposed algorithm not only improves the performance, but also the dimension reduction procedure keeps the important features of both global and regional data. The experimental results of this paper will be beneficial for the subsequent analysis of the clustering in identifying important subtypes of CD$4^{+}$T cells. Most importantly, this wm significantly improve the procedure of manually integrating and labeling the recorded data after several tedious and monotonous analyses with external software. © 2023 IEEE.

This study presents a dipper-throated-based ant colony optimization (DTACO) with the Seasonal Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average with eXogenous factor (SARIMAX) model (DTACO+SARIMAX) to forecast monkeypox cases. The work optimizes the SARIMAX model using grid search cross-validation and fine-tunes its hyperparameters using DTACO to improve prediction accuracy. The suggested model's consistency and accuracy are considerable compared to previous studies. Comparisons with state-of-the-art models validate the proposed model's predictions. DTACO+SARIMAX can be used to control disease and monitor monkeypox. Healthcare organizations and governments can better manage and track the pandemic's course by offering accurate predictions, reducing public panic, and enabling effective pandemic planning. The Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests are conducted on the proposed DTACO-SARIMAX model and compared models. © 2023 IEEE.

Bayesian networks have recently been used for discovering an optimal learning structure in machine learning. Bayes networks can describe possible dependencies of explanatory variables. As a novel approach to studying the structure of a Bayesian network, the authors present the Antlion Optimization Algorithm (ALO). In the algorithm;deletion, rewind, insertion, and change are utilized to produce ALO to reach the best hull solution. Essentially, the technique used in the ALO algorithm imitates the antlions’ behaviors while hunting. The suggested approach is contrasted with simulated Annealing, Simulated Annealing Hybrid Bee, Greedy Search Hybrid Bee, optimization inspired by Pigeon, and greedy search using the BDe Score function. The researchers also studied the representation of the confusion matrix of these techniques using different reference data sets. The findings of the assessments reveal that the proposed algorithm works better than the other algorithms and has better consistency and score values. As shown by the experimental evaluations, the proposed method has a more reliable performance than other algorithms (including the production of excellent scores and accuracy values). © 2022. In recent years, the wood product industry has been facing a skilled labor shortage. The result is more frequent sudden failures, resulting in additional costs for these companies already operating in a very competitive market. Moreover, sawmills are challenging environments for machinery and sensors. Given that experienced machine operators may be able to diagnose defects or malfunctions, one possible way of assisting novice operators is through acoustic monitoring. As a step towards the automation of wood-processing equipment and decision support systems for machine operators, in this paper, we explore using a deep convolutional autoencoder for acoustic anomaly detection of wood planers on a new real-life dataset. Specifically, our convolutional autoencoder with skip connections (Skip-CAE) and our Skip-CAE transformer outperform the DCASE autoencoder baseline, one-class SVM, isolation forest and a published convolutional autoencoder architecture, respectively obtaining an area under the ROC curve of 0.846 and 0.875 on a dataset of real-factory planer sounds. Moreover, we show that adding skip connections and attention mechanism under the form of a transformer encoder-decoder helps to further improve the anomaly detection capabilities. © 2025 IEEE.
