Modeling business process allows an organization to think about its way of conducting business while helping discover weakness in its processes. Although it is common for participants to collaborate within an organization, it is essential to define how different participants from different organizations collaborate as a community, to reach a common business goal. In this context, the realization of business processes by means of services becomes more important, providing support for separating their definition from the technologies implementing them, allowing a better response to changes. A model-driven approach for the direct generation of services from business processes provides several advantages such as reuse of the knowledge imbibed in the correspondences defined between the involved metamodels and traceability between elements in both metamodels, allowing for a better Business-IT alignment. In this article we present an approach for the automatic generation of SoaML service-oriented models from collaborative business process models in BPMN2. © 2012 Authors.

Correct annotation and identification of salient regions in Kidney biopsy images can provide an estimation of pathogenesis in obstructive nephropathy. This paper presents a tool for the automatic or manual segmentation of such regions along with methodology for their characterization in terms of the exhibited pathology. The proposed implementation is based on custom code written in Java and the utilization of open source tools (i.e. RapidMiner, ImageJ). The corresponding implementation details along with the initial evaluation of the proposed integrated system are also presented in the paper.

Efficient utilization of the computational resources is an urgent demand especially if real time constraints should be guaranteed. Moreover, an acceptable level of reliability should be provided due to the critical nature of some real time applications. This paper proposes a new approach for processing power reservations that efficiently utilizes all the available processing power to improve reliability and schedulability of independent real time tasks on a uniprocessor. The basic idea of the proposed approach is to use all of the available processing power in the time interval between the arrivals of two successive tasks or when an existing task departs. The advantages of this mechanism are: 1) it reduces the execution time required for each task and hence increases its reliability. 2) At the arrival of a new task;the processing power requirements for the executing tasks to meet their deadlines are smaller, which gives the new arriving tasks higher chances to be accommodated with the existing ones. 3) Efficient processing power utilization may reduce the power consumption in processors with dynamic voltage scaling. An illustration example and simulation experiments showed that our approach provides a more reliable scheduling scheme with higher acceptance rate compared to the traditional approach based on Rialto operating system. © 2012 International Journal of computer science Issues.

Carrying out business processes by means of software services helps to close the business-systems gap, by introducing an intermediate layer between business process definition and software systems, thus permitting not only better independence, but also more traceability between them. Despite the fact that technologies have matured to support this new reality, there is a lack of methodologies and notations, although some have been proposed to guide service development with different visions of service design and implementation. Service modeling is the basis for, among other things, the automation of several development steps by means of the model-driven development paradigm. The SoaML standard is a major step towards service modeling in UML. In this paper we extend our Business Process Service Oriented Methodology (BPSOM) for service development from business processes by integrating two main aspects: service modeling using SoaML and QVT transformations to obtain SoaML service models from BPMN BP models. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

The analysis and characterization of biomedical image data is a complex procedure involving several processing phases, like data acquisition, preprocessing, segmentation, feature extraction and classification. The proper combination and parameterization of the utilized methods are heavily relying on the given image data set and experiment type and may thus require advanced image processing and classification knowledge from the side of the biomedical expert. In this work, an application, exploiting web services and applying ontological modeling, is presented, to enable the intelligent creation of image mining workflows. The described tool can be directly integrated to the Rapid-Miner or similar workflow management platforms. A case study dealing with the creation of a sample workflow for kidney biopsy microscopy images analysis is presented to demonstrate the functionality of the proposed framework. © 2010 IEEE.

Verlhust logistic map f(x) = r x (1 - x) is a widely studied and applicable model in discrete dynamical system. Its behavior has been, extensively, studied in Picard orbit and recently studied in superior orbit. Rani et. al. [22] and [25] has shown that in superior orbit, logistic map is stable for larger values of r than that of Picard orbit. In this paper, we have attempted to make the map stable for further larger values of r via I-superior iterates. © 2010 IEEE.

Acquisition of pervasive sensor data can be often unsuccessful due to power outage at nodes, time synchronization issues, interference, network transmission failures or sensor hardware issues. Such failures can lead to inadequate data delivery to the monitoring applications resulting in erroneous conclusions. This paper presents a missing values substitution framework that addresses the aforementioned issue. The presented framework has been evaluated within a pervasive sensor monitoring environment that collects and transmits patient health related data and results have been presented. The integration of Business Process Management (BPM), Service Oriented Computing (SOC) and Model Driven Development (MDD) paradigms to improve the development of services oriented solutions from business models is nowadays in the spotlight. Organizations wanting to remain competitive despite the constant changes in their business are paying more attention to their business processes and its base lifecycle. Business process modeling is also at the centre of software development efforts, as making those models explicitly constitutes the basis for services definition. Transformations between business process and services models allow the automatic generation of services from business processes in a repeatable and systematic way, easing the development process. In this paper we present MINERVA's tool support for service oriented development from business processes, including QVT transformations from BPMN to SoaML models to automatically generate service models from business process models.
