Classification techniques based on Artificial Intelligence are computational tools that have been applied to detection of intrusions (IDS) with encouraging results. They are able to solve problems related to information security in an efficient way. The intrusion detection implies the use of huge amount of information. For this reason heuristic methodologies have been proposed. In this paper, decision trees, Naive Bayes, and supervised classifying systems UCS, are combined to improve the performance of a classifier. In order to validate the system, a scenario based on real data of the NSL-KDD99 dataset is used.

n this study, we investigate the feasibility of using power spectral density (PSD) analysis to assess the healthy subjects and diabetics with mild, moderate and severe autonomic neuropathy. Continuous cerebral blood flow velocity (CBFV) was measured using transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD), and continuous arterial blood pressure (ABP) was measured using Finapres device under supine and hyperventilation conditions. Four groups of subjects were recruited in this study including 11 healthy adults (56.4±8.1 years), 15 diabetics with mild autonomic neuropathy (50.8±15.7 years), 21 diabetics with moderate autonomic neuropathy (61.8±9.0 years), and 25 diabetics with severe autonomic neuropathy (61.4±10.0 years). According to the results of PSD, it can be speculated that while the diabetic autonomic neuropathy of a patient becomes more serious, the function of cerebral auto regulation (CA) tends to be more imbalance. In conclusion, sympathetic activity was different on diabetics with autonomic neuropathy from supine to hyperventilation by the analysis of power spectrum. Sympathetic activity was increased to reduce CBFV from supine to hyperventilation. Due to hyperventilation make oxygen increase in the brain, cerebral auto regulation can make sympathetic activity increased. Therefore, power spectral analysis can be a useful tool to investigate autonomic neuropathy in diabetics. © 2012 IEEE.

Mobile learning is impacting education using different technologies and methodologies. This article introduces two relevant learning experiences at UNED where new mobile technologies and pedagogical methodologies were applied. The first experience was based on a ubiquitous annotation system, while the second one used augmented reality to create an engaging mobile collaborative and open environment where students were learners and teachers at the same time, publishing content and learning from the content published by other peers.

The cost of hyperpaths in directed hypergraphs can be measuread in various different ways, which have been used in a wide set of applications. Not surprisingly, dep.nding on the considered measure function the cost to find optimum hyperpaths may range from NP-hard to linear time. A first solution for finding optimum hyperpaths in case of a superior functions (SUP) can be found in a seminal work by Knuth [5], which generalizes Dijkstra's Algorithm [3] to deal with a grammar problem. In this paper we define a hierarchy of classes of optimization problems based on the properties of the cost measures. After showing that measures can be classified on the basis of the structure of the optimum hyperpath they determine, we present an alternative taxonomy of measure functions, based on their analytic properties, and prove structure theorems that relate the two hierarchies. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

This paper deals with the design process and the dynamic control simulation of a new type of 4-DOFs parallel mechanism that can be used as an endoscopie surgical manipulator. The proposed mechanism, 2-PUU 2PUS, is designed based on the screw theory and the parallel virtual chain type synthesis method. Based on the structure analysis of the 4-DOF parallel mechanism, the inverse position equation is studied using the inverse analysis theory of kinematics. The design and the stress analysis of the mechanism are investigated using SolidWorks software. The virtual prototype of the parallel mechanism is constructed, and the dynamic simulation is performed using ADAMS™ software. The system model utilizing PID and PI controllers has been built using MATLAB software. A more realistic simulation in accordance with a given bending angle and point to point control is implemented by the use of both ADAMS/MATLAB software. The simulation results showed that this control method has solved the coordinate control for the 4-DOF parallel manipulator so that each output is feedback to the four driving rods. From the results, the tracking performance is achieved. Other control techniques, such as intelligent ones, are recommended to improve the tracking performance and reduce the numerical truncation error. © 2012 IEEE.

In this paper, an algorithm for the reconstruction of an outdoor environment using a mobile robot is presented. The focus of this algorithm is making the mapping process efficient by capturing the greatest amount of information on every scan, ensuring at the same time that the overall quality of the resulting 3D model of the environment complies with the specified standards. With respect to existing approaches, the proposed approach is an innovation since there are very few information based methods for outdoor reconstruction that use resulting model quality and trajectory cost estimation as criteria for view planning. © 2011 IEEE.

Two new textural descriptor, named N Concentric Squares Resized (NCSR) and N Concentric Squares Histogram (NCSH), have been proposed. These descriptors were used to classify 472 images of alive spermatozoa heads and 376 images of dead spermatozoa heads. The results obtained with these two novel descriptors have been compared with a number of classical descriptors such as Haralick, Pattern Spectrum, WSF, Zernike, Flusser and Hu. The feature vectors computed have been classified using kNN and a backpropagation Neural Network. The error rate obtained for NCSR with N = 11 was of 23.20% outperforms the rest of descriptors. Also, the area under the ROC curve (AUC) and the values observed in the ROC curve indicates the performance of the proposed descriptor is better than the others texture description methods. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2011.

The increasing pace of biotechnological advances produced an unprecedented amount of both experimental data and biological information mostly diffused on the web. However, the heterogeneity of the data organization and the different knowledge representations open the ways to new challenges in the integration and the extraction of biological information fundamental for correctly interpreter experimental results. In the present work we introduce a new methodology for quantitatively scoring the degree of biological correlation among biological terms occurring in biomedical abstracts. The proposed flow is based on the latent semantic analysis of biomedical literature coupled with the UMLS Metathesarurs and PubMed literature information. The results demonstrate that the structured and consolidated knowledge in the UMLS and pathway database efficiently improves the accuracy of the latent semantic analysis of biomedical literature. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2013.

In this paper, we develop a micro-gripper that actuated by piezoelectric cantilever for the need of micro parts assembly. The displacement-voltage relationship model is given. For hysteresis of piezoelectric ceramic, we present a mix control algorithm, which employs the hysteresis offset control model based on Dahl and PID control model. The results of micro-assembly prove that the model is efficiency. © 2011 IEEE.
