The complexity of current mixed software/hardware custom digital systems, has led to the requirement for automated high-level synthesis of the system from abstract, executable specifications, in order to drastically reduce the long development cycles. This paper introduces an approach to validate the hardware compilation process of a formal, high-level synthesizer, using provably-correct logic programming and XML schema techniques via an intelligent inference engine. The XML schema definition model is automatically generated from a formal intermediate format which forms the basis of connection and data exchange between the front-end and the back-end phases of the hardware compiler. The proposed methodology and the prototype tools are evaluated with results from real life applications such as graphics applications and an MPEG video compression engine.

This paper presents the fuzzy modeling approach to the description QV curve of power system for analysis of voltage stability. Voltage instability of power system comes from increasing load rapidly, and causes bus voltage to drop. When voltage is out of control and it can be voltage collapse. The QV curve can identify voltage stability limit, and it determine robustness of power system. The method of fuzzy modeling has been proven to be well-suited for modeling nonlinear industrial processes described by input-output data. In view of the nonlinear characteristic of the QV curve, the method of fuzzy modeling is employed for representing the curve. The fuzzy system model is basically a collection of fuzzy IF-THEN rules that are combined via fuzzy reasoning for describing the features of a system under study. Based on the Sugeno-type fuzzy model, various models with different numbers of modeling rules are used to describing the QV curve. It is found that such fuzzy model offers both quantitative and qualitative descriptions for the QV curve.

This paper presents the design of modal insensitivity for the synchronous generator in a power system using Eigenstructure Assignment. In the proposed design procedure, modal insensitivity of generator is achieved by assigning system eigenstructure and only algebraic computations are involved. Model insensitivity means that the concerned system mode shape is insensitive to small variations in the system. From the simulation results of the study in a single-machine-infinite-bus system are certified. It is found that the system damping has been greatly improved. The proposed design has improved on the sensitivity.

This paper used six formulas for power factor measurement, and they will be different according to the characteristics of load. The power quality is more and more serious, because a lot of information technology equipments and power electric converters were used in recent years. Harmonic and load unbalance can affect the measurement result of power factor of utility. The Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is used to analyze the six formula of power factor. The simulation system was modeled in Hardware Description Language (VHDL) and some novel IP (intellectual property) cores, such as CORDIC core and FFT core by the way of Bottom-Up. The technology of semiconductor was more and more maturely. Design of SOC (System On a Chip) is a trend to achieve the strong and small volume in the future. The measurement data were employed to calculate active, reactive and apparent power. The average error rate of our design is about 0.05%.
The dynamic reconfiguration of recent FPGAs offers an important step to adaptive behavior of Systems-on-Chip (SoCs). These dynamically reconfigurable systems add another degree of freedom to the design space. When a p...

In vibration-based structural health monitoring damage in structure is tried to detect from damage-sensitive features. Because neither prior information nor data about expected damage are normally available, damage detection problem must be solved by using a novelty detection approach. Features, which are sensitive to damage, are often sensitive to environmental and operational variations. Therefore elimination of these variations is essential for reliable damage detection. At present many of the damage detection methods are linear, though it has been shown that many of the vibration changes in structures are bilinear or nonlinear. This paper proposes to use nonlinear factor analysis to detect damage via elimination of external effects from damage features. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by analyzing the experimental Z24 Bridge data with a comparison to a linear method. It is shown that elimination of adverse effects and damage detection are feasible.

Deep learning has been successfully applied to perform non-linear embedding. In this par per, we present supervised embedding techniques that use a deep network to collapse classes. The network is pre-trained using a stack of RBMs, and finetuned using approaches that try to collapse classes. The finetuning is inspired by ideas from NCA, but it uses a Student t-distribution to model the similarities of data points belonging to the same class in the embedding. We investigate two types of objective functions: deep t-distributed MCML (dt-MCML) and deep t-distributed NCA (dt-NCA). Our experiments on two handwritten digit data sets reveal the strong performance of dt-MCML in supervised parametric data visualization, whereas dt-NCA outperforms alternative techniques when embeddings with more than two or three dimensions are constructed, e.g., to obtain good classification performances. Overall, our results demonstrate the advantage of using a deep architecture and a heavy-tailed t-distribution for measuring pairwise similarities in supervised embedding.
