With the wide acceptance and development of the Internet, it is trend to integrate all of services and devices into Internet. At the same time, the fast development of communication technology that is evolved from narrowband dial-up networks to current broadband networks, from fixed PSTN phone to mobile phone and from wired network to wireless network. In the foreseeable future, the communication will be converged to IP centric networks to come up pervasive/ubiquitous network environments. In this paper, the functions of SIP protocol, video/audio codec, and video/audio streaming are integrated to realize a video/audio phone system in embedded platform. Based on the multi-thread environment, the modules of motion JPEG, SIP signaling protocol, and video/audio streaming are designed to come out a SIP-based video/audio streaming system. The system can be applied to the applications of remote surveillance, digital door phone, interphone, and Internet phone.

The Internet has emerged to be an effective platform for world universities to share their academic outcomes and to show their influence and contribution via constructing rich and easy-to-access web sites. At the same time, Webometrics Ranking of World Universities (WR), proposed by Centre for Scientific Information and Documentation (CSIC), ranks the world universities by the quantity of digital documents available on their web sites and the quality of the web pages measured by the incoming hyperlinks. Therefore, WR is currently recognized as an important index and opportunity for universities willing to promote themselves by the Internet technology. In this paper, we propose a novel cloud-based information providing system for Webometrics Rankings which employs web mining techniques to gather the WR indices from the Internet automatically, and provides useful information in real time for the managers of university web sites. The proposed system is dep.oyed on Microsoft Azure cloud platform in order to give up-to-data and deeper insights of the WR ranking indicators for its users. It utilizes the scalable computation and storage capability of the cloud platform to continually gather the WR index data from the Internet. The proposed system is designed with architecture suitable for cloud-based application such that the period to thoroughly update the WR ranking data is shortened from six months to be within one week. The proposed service model provides a paradigm for constructing cloud-based service of information providing applications.

A broadband microstrip comb-line antenna using a corporate feeding system was developed. The antenna was composed of four colinearly-arranged comb-line antennas with traveling-wave excitation fed by a parallel-feeding circuit of tournament configuration. The total phase deviation due to frequency change became one fourth of the ordinary series feeding from the end of the antenna. Furthermore, the terminations of the inner two comb-lines were connected at the overall center of the developed antenna. Therefore, the narrowband matching elements are not necessary and the amplitude deviation of the aperture distribution for input from one side due to frequency change is compensated by deviation for input from the other side. Broad bandwidth can be expected by using the proposed configuration. The proposed antenna was designed at 76.5 GHz. The effect of the proposed feeding-circuit for broadband operation was confirmed by comparing the measured performances of the antennas fed by other feeding circuits;the end feeding, the center feeding and the ordinary corporate feeding. The bandwidth of the proposed corporate feeding antenna with the center connecting was approximately 14% and 7% wider than the antennas of the center feeding and of the ordinary corporate feeding, respectively. With the development of Cloud computing, more and more Cloud systems are designed and dep.oyed to solve large-scale problem in the area of business and science engineering. However, few efforts are taken to address the issue of performance evaluation in Cloud environments. In this paper, we present an integrated performance evaluation middleware, which is aiming to provide users and researchers an easy-to-use toolkit to evaluate their Cloud system's runtime performance, or compare the performance when different resource management policy and task scheduling algorithms are taken into account. Massive experiments are conducted to investigate the effectiveness of the proposed system, and the results indicate that its configurable feature is very useful when users are conducting performance comparing under different conditions. © 2012 Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l. -All rights reserved.

The presented work aims to contribute towards the standardization and the interoperability off the Future Internet through an open and scalable architecture design. We present S3OiA as a syntactic/semantic Service-Oriented Architecture that allows the integration of any type of object or device, not mattering their nature, on the Internet of Things. Moreover, the architecture makes possible the use of underlying heterogeneous resources as a substrate for the automatic composition of complex applications through a semantic Triple Space paradigm. Created applications are dynamic and adaptive since they are able to evolve dep.nding on the context where they are executed. The validation scenario of this architecture encompasses areas which are prone to involve human beings in order to promote personal autonomy, such as home-care automation environments and Ambient Assisted Living. © 2012 IEEE.

In this paper, a new method for non-blind image watermarking presented that is robust against affine transformation and ordinary image manipulation. The proposed method presents a watermarking scheme based on redundant discrete wavelet transform (RDWT) and Singular Value Decomposition (SVD). After applying RDWT to cover image, we apply SVD to each subband. Then we modify singular values of the cover image using singular values of the visual watermark. The advantage of the proposed technique is its robustness against most common attacks. Analysis and experimental results show higher performance of the proposed method in comparison to the DWT-SVD method. © 2011 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a method of eye detection based on skin color analysis under varying illumination. The proposed method consists of several phases, including color conversion, skin color segmentation and face mask calculation, facial feature extraction and eye candidate determination, and detection of human eyes. To eliminate the effect of lighting change on the performance of eye detection, color conversion is first performed. Face mask calculation based on skin color segmentation is then carried out to reduce the possible searching region of human eyes. Eye candidates detected using facial features are used to define the possible human eyes. Human eyes are thus detected by the geometric features of gravity and spatial centers for these eye candidates. Results show that the proposed method works well for faces with different poses and multiple faces under varying illumination. The eye detection time of 21.8 ms is achieved for an image of size 213×320 pixels, indicating computational efficiency of the proposed system. © 2011 IEEE.

In this paper, we integrate the SIP protocol, ZigBee networks, video/audio streaming, and remote control to realize a video door phone system and remote home appliance control, to enhance the home secure environment. At the same time, a low-complexity XOR-based FEC packet loss recovery scheme is developed to reduce the packet loss impact and to improve the video playback quality in client side. © 2011 IEEE.

In this paper, a relay selection policy is proposed that fully exploits the flexibility offered by the buffering ability of the relay nodes in order to maximize the achieved diversity gain. The suggested scheme incorporates the instantaneous strength of the wireless links as well as the status of the finite relay buffers and the relay selection decision is based on the strongest available link. Hence the switching occurs dynamically between relay reception and transmission. We show that the proposed relay selection scheme significantly outperforms conventional relay selection policies for all cases and ensures a diversity gain equal to two times the number of relays for large buffer sizes.
