This paper proposes a Key Management Protocol for mobile and industrial Internet of Things systems, targeting, at the same time, robust key negotiation, lightweight node authentication, fast re-keying, and efficient protection against replay attacks. The proposed approach pragmatically leverages widely accepted Elliptic Curve Cryptography constructions, specifically the (Elliptic Curve)"Fixed"Diffie Hellman key exchange and the (Elliptic Curve) Qu-Vanstone implicit certificates. Our value added is their suitable integration into a security protocol exchange, designed at layer 2, in the 802.15.4 protocol stack, which permits to i) avoid Elliptic Point multiplications upon rekeying of previously paired devices, and ii) support mutual authentication while securing the protocol exchange. To prove its viability, the proposed Key Management Protocol has been implemented and assessed on severely constrained devices. As expected, but made explicit and quantified by our experimental performance evaluation, the usage of implicit certificates in conjunction with an optimized message exchange yields impressive gains in terms of airtime consumption with respect to state of the art schemes. © 2015 ACM.

In this paper, we tackle the problem of resource management in macro-femtocell networks. Dense dep.oyment of femtocells imposes several challenges for a cluster-based resource allocation. Some of those challenges are the trade-off between the level of offloaded traffic from macrocell and bandwidth allocated to femto-tier, the fair distribution of resources, and the mitigation of inter-cluster interference. To overcome these limitations, we propose a coalitional game to form clusters of femtocells that can reduce the resource allocation complexity. Stable clusters are formed based on the core model. Our proposal mainly consists of three components. Namely, a femtocell selection for public users, a coalitional game where cooperative femtocells are rewarded, and a Weighted Water Filling algorithm to allocate resources. Our solution is performed under a rewarding model, which is based on an ideal spectral efficiency and on an effective spectral efficiency. We compare the results of our rewarding model with a non-cooperative model, where femtocells work in closed access mode. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposal improves the femto-tier throughput and the satisfaction of femtocells subscribers.

This study implemented DFT method into the C++ programming language with object-oriented programming rules (expressive software). The use of expressive software results in getting a simple programming structure, which is similar to mathematical formula. This will facilitate the scientific community to develop the software. We validate our software by calculating the energy band structure of Silica, Carbon, and Germanium with FCC structure using the Projector Augmented Wave (PAW) method then compare the results to Quantum Espresso calculation's results. This study shows that the accuracy of the software is 85% compared to Quantum Espresso.

Developers' communication, as contained in emails, issue trackers, and forums, is a precious source of information to support the development process. For example, it can be used to capture knowledge about development practice or about a software project itself. Thus, extracting the content of developers' communication can be useful to support several software engineering tasks, such as program comprehension, source code analysis, and software analytics. However, automating the extraction process is challenging, due to the unstructured nature of free text, which mixes different coding languages (e.g., source code, stack dumps, and log traces) with natural language parts. We conduct an extensive evaluation of Irish (InfoRmation ISlands Hmm), an approach we proposed to extract islands of coded information from free text at token granularity, with respect to the state of art approaches based on island parsing or island parsing combined with machine learners. The evaluation considers a wide set of natural language documents (e.g., textbooks, forum discussions, and development emails) taken from different contexts and encompassing different coding languages. Results indicate an F-measure of Irish between 74% and 99%;this is in line with existing approaches which, differently from Irish, require specific expertise for the definition of regular expressions or grammars. © 2015 Elsevier B.V. The increase in Internet-connected physical devices offers new possibilities and opportunities. This Internet of Things (IoT) fosters the development of new platforms, services and applications that connect the physical world (represented by physical objects) to the virtual world (represented by the Internet). The work presented here proposes a study of role and attribute-based access control models that tackle the security concerns of our already developed data sharing framework. The framework introduced a formal theoretical model, the IOTCollab domain specific language, and an integrated development environment that implements this model. We have extended this framework by completing the formal theoretical model with access control capabilities.

The design of distributed embedded systems is a challenging task that requires raising the level of abstraction to handle the different involved concerns. In particular, standard modeling languages and precise semantics specification are necessary to address the networking-related aspects at a high level of abstraction. The Unified Modeling Language (UML) and its MARTE profile are valid formalisms to model real-time embedded systems but they lack precise modeling elements when addressing applications and platforms forming distributed embedded systems. In this work, we formalize a coherent set of modeling elements for the design and dep.oyment of distributed embedded systems. A novel UML profile for networking is proposed as a semantic and syntactic extension to the UML Profile for MARTE: The Network Profile.

High-dimensional data such as hyperspectral images contain abundant information of surface radiation. But the massive redundant information makes it complex to be utilized conveniently. To solve this problem, a manifold learning dimensionality reduction framework for hyperspectral image is proposed. Firstly, statistical sampling methods were used to sample a subset of data points as landmarks. A skeleton of the manifold was then identified basing on the landmarks. The remaining data points were then inserted into the skeleton by Locally Linear Embedding algorithm. At last, original data sets and data sets reduced with different manifold learning approaches were classified by KNN classifier to evaluate the performance of the proposed framework. The framework was tested on AVIRIS Salinas-A dataset. The experimental results showed that the tradeoff of accuracy with different landmarks is of great significant. Insufficient landmarks lead to low accuracy and excess landmarks may spend a considerable amount of time.

Hyperspectral remote sensing image (HSI) consists of hundreds of bands that contain rich space, radiation and spectral information. The high-dimensional data can also lead to the curse of dimensionality problem making it difficult to be used effectively. In this paper, we proposed a manifold learning algorithm to reduce the dimensionality for HSI data. For high dimensional datasets with continuous variables, it is often the case that the data points are arranged along with low dimensional structures, named manifolds, in the high dimensional space. Manifold learning aims to identifying those special low dimensional structures for subsequent usage such as classification or regression. However, many manifold learning algorithms perform an eigenvector analysis on a data similarity matrix whose size is N×N, where N is the number of data points. The memory complexity of the analysis is at least O(N 2 ) that is not feasible for a regular computer to compute or storage for very large datasets. To solve this problem, we used statistical sampling methods to sample a subset of data points as landmarks. A skeleton of the manifold was then identified based on the landmarks. The remaining data points were then inserted into the skeleton by Locally Linear Embedding (LLE). We tested our algorithm on AVIRIS Salinas-A data set. The experimental results showed that the HSI dataset could be reduced to a lower-dimensional space for land use classification with good performance, and the main structure was preserved well.

Web applications take an important role in remote access over the Internet. These applications have many capabilities such as database access, file read/write, calculations as well as desktop applications but run in web browsers environments. As desktop applications, web applications can be exploited but with different techniques. One of the major known vulnerabilities of the web applications is Local File Inclusion. Inclusion in web applications is similar to library imports in desktop applications where a developer can include former developed codes. If an attacker includes his/her libraries, he/she can run his/her malicious code. Current research makes a brief survey of static and dynamic code analysis and suggests a framework for dynamically preventing malicious file inclusions by attackers. It is discussed that this framework prevents local file inclusions even if the developer has exploitable source code. The language PHP is used for describing the vulnerability and prevention framework.

Requirements engineering was initially regarded as a front-end activity to form a basis for the coming activities of software development, which can be achieved by gathering and producing unambiguous and consistent requirements. However, in recent years, requirements engineering has been recognized as a creative process. A systematic literature review followed by an online questionnaire with practitioners were employed to identify a comprehensive overview of existing empirical evidence using creativity techniques in the requirements engineering process. The results show a limited range of applied creativity techniques with insufficient empirical evidence to adequately evaluate if the techniques create more creative requirements. The contribution of this study is threefold: First, it compares which creativity techniques have been empirically evaluated in literature. Second, it compares the identified creativity techniques. Third, it includes an examination of which creativity techniques are used in industry.
