The United States Army is designing and implementing a revolutionary advance in the combat power of individual infantrymen on the battlefield: Land Warrior. In Land Warrior, each soldier becomes a node in a wireless local area network (WLAN). In order to account for likely losses of line of site between soldiers, the On Demand Multicast Routing Protocol (ODMRP) is used. The purpose of this research was to construct a simulation study to determine whether the communications architecture of Land Warrior was sufficiently scalable to use in large Army units. This paper describes the input analysis conducted to determine probability distributions used to generate message traffic. This paper also describes the development of the simulation model used to determine the scalability of the Land Warrior communications architecture.

In this paper, a neuro-fuzzy model is introduced. The model describes a fuzzy relational "IF-THEN" reasoning scheme using an adaptive structure based on fuzzy relations. Two training schemes for the learning of the parameters based respectively on the backpropagation algorithm and pseudo-inverse matrix technique are illustrated. The model qualities are investigated by a series of simulation examples: function approximation, classification and rule extraction. These preliminary and promising results show that the model has a good performance and that it could be used for complex systems in real world applications.

The practical implementation of the third-order tetrahedral version of Nedelec's first family of curl-conforming elements is presented. Following the definition of the element given by Nedelec, the third-order vectorial basis functions of the element are deduced. The element thus obtained exhibits some important differences with respect to other higher-order curl-conforming elements which have appeared in the literature. Specifically, the third-order curl-conforming finite element proposed leads to better conditioned finite element method (FEM) matrices.
Due to visibility change and surface enlargement in producing a novel view from a new viewpoint, 3D re-projection from one reference image in IBMR inevitably produces holes in the destination image. Even worse, exposu...

We present an intuitive and simple O(log2 n log φ) time, O(n2M(n)) processer parallel algorithm for finding a perfect matching in a planar graph, where n is the order, π is the number of the distinct perfect matchings of the graph and M(n) is the best sequential complexity of matrix multiplication of size n. The algorithm runs on a CRCW PRAM. Clearly, our algorithm belongs to the class NC if the number of perfect matchings is polynomially bounded in the size of the input graph.
Hand gesture is one of the most natural and expressive ways for the hearing impaired. However, because of the complexity of dynamic gestures, most researches are focused either on static gestures, postures, or a small...
