Since the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 outbreak, intensive research has been conducted to find suitable tools for diagnosis and identifying infected people in order to take appropriate action. Chest imaging plays a significant role in this phase where CT and Xrays scans have proven to be effective in detecting COVID-19 within the lungs. In this research, we propose deep learning models using Transfer learning to detect COVID-19. Both X-ray and CT scans were considered to evaluate the proposed methods. © 2021 IEEE.

Active Learning (AL) has the potential to solve a major problem of digital pathology: the efficient acquisition of labeled data for machine learning algorithms. However, existing AL methods often struggle in realistic settings with artifacts, ambiguities, and class imbalances, as commonly seen in the medical field. The lack of precise uncertainty estimations leads to the acquisition of images with a low informative value. To address these challenges, we propose Focused Active Learning (FocAL), which combines a Bayesian Neural Network with Out-of-Distribution detection to estimate different uncertainties for the acquisition function. Specifically, the weighted epistemic uncertainty accounts for the class imbalance, aleatoric uncertainty for ambiguous images, and an OoD score for artifacts. We perform extensive experiments to validate our method on MNIST and the real-world Panda dataset for the classification of prostate cancer. The results confirm that other AL methods are’distracted’ by ambiguities and artifacts which harm the performance. FocAL effectively focuses on the most informative images, avoiding ambiguities and artifacts during acquisition. For both experiments, FocAL outperforms existing AL approaches, reaching a Cohen’s kappa of 0.764 with only 0.69% of the labeled Panda data. © 2024, CC BY.

Project Risk management is the process of identifying, evaluating, avoiding, or reducing risks. Where there is no software project without risks existence are natural in the context of project planning and management. This study focuses on proposing an enhanced risk management approach where testing phases were added to make the risk management process more effective by proposing solutions to many mistakes and challenges that occur through dealing with risks. The proposed approach focuses on dealing with risks that cannot be easily defined, more accurate risk evaluation, planning, and managing risk coordinated with a contingency plan.

This study presents a dipper-throated-based ant colony optimization (DTACO) with the Seasonal Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average with eXogenous factor (SARIMAX) model (DTACO+SARIMAX) to forecast monkeypox cases. The work optimizes the SARIMAX model using grid search cross-validation and fine-tunes its hyperparameters using DTACO to improve prediction accuracy. The suggested model's consistency and accuracy are considerable compared to previous studies. Comparisons with state-of-the-art models validate the proposed model's predictions. DTACO+SARIMAX can be used to control disease and monitor monkeypox. Healthcare organizations and governments can better manage and track the pandemic's course by offering accurate predictions, reducing public panic, and enabling effective pandemic planning. The Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests are conducted on the proposed DTACO-SARIMAX model and compared models. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper introduces AbotalebNet, a novel deep learning architecture optimized for time series forecasting, with a particular focus on the complexities of COVID-19 data. A data sender in an IP-based network is only capable of efficiently using a network path if it knows the packet size limit of the path, i.e., the Path Maximum Transmission Unit (PMTU). An IP router that cannot forward and must drop an oversized packet should notify the sender with a Packet Too Big (PTB) message, which contains the maximum packet size it can forward. A transport protocol supporting a discovery to determine the PMTU may use PTB messages. However, for the transport protocol QUIC (e.g., used by HTTP/3), we identified only a few implementations that determine the PMTU and none of them process PTB messages. In this paper, we present results from simulations that show how much a QUIC sender using PMTU discovery benefits from processing PTB messages, which includes a result that outlines the benefit of determining the PMTU in general. Further, we analyze the risk of using PTB messages and describe a way to protect against potential attacks with forged PTB messages.

Low altitude airspace economy applications will be of highly effective in a wide range of civil activities and will be a critical element in the smart cities of the future. In view of the main features of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), such as automatic piloting system, access to uninhabited areas, low cost compared to road and manned aircraft, shorter delivery time, and the ability to carry heavy payloads, it is important to recognize that UAVs can be used for a wide range of civil activities. With the development of these applications in full swing around the world, in addition to advanced communications technology and other related infrastructure, business demand and a favorable investment climate, clarity, definiteness and feasible regulations in the Taiwanese environment are also essential. Supply chain is the universal link network to deliver the product from one place to another. Capability to trace and track the Agri-goods products is very important throughout various stages of the supplychain including manufacturing, processing, distribution, importation, and retail. Ensuring the safety, quality, and validation of agricultural products is very crucial. In traditional supply chain management, which often involves untrusted entities and data is centrally monitored and stored with all the transactions being processed through a centralized organization. However, this centralized system is vulnerable to hacking by third parties, which can result in data security issues and the potential for a single point failure. And the primary challenges include monitoring, the origin of agri-goods, tracing the logistics, and low level of security, trust, and transparency between the stakeholders which leads to implicit delays downstream of Agri goods, and decisions taken among different dep.rtments. In this study, we propose a consortium blockchain solution for tracing and tracking of agri-goods products. Blockchain has a rapidly evolving disruptive Technology and immutable chain structure that is linked sequentially according to chronological order. Which is achieved through the creation of smart contract algorithms between different entities and fostering communication among stakeholders in the agri-goods supply chain. The traceability of the agri-goods products, including their origin, safety, quality, and validation, is implemented through the integration of RFID (Radio frequency identifications) tags and readers. Additionally, the solution incorporates a blockchain-enabled ultra-light weight mutual authentication RFID protocol for provide the security and resist the possible vulnerabilities.

While more home appliances are designed and manufactured, Sonoff serial home assistant alliances are designed and manufactured by eWeLink for many cheap and convenient devices controlled with exclusive APPs. Sonoff home assistant alliances are popular and well-known to attract many developers who can develop unofficial software to enhance the closed APPs designed by eWeLink and make flexible applications based on original hardware such as Tasmota and parameterized open-source APPs. We follow the above-mentioned developers to design a firmware that controls and is controlled based on message queue telemetry transport (MQTT) protocol from a cloud platform and the internet of thing (IoT) based architecture. The Sonoff home assistant alliances installed by the designed firmware can be controlled with one or more groups through a clouding platform by existing physical power-sockets from one-to-one controlling by eWeLink APPs. Under the proposed architecture, those Sonoff serial home assistant alliances are easily used like traditional power sockets for old-age users, who only use physical switches with touch-panel with MCU-based controllers to control power sockets. We designed digital switches on the website by browsers and physical touch panels as traditional switches work indep.ndently and coexist to meet most users with software-based APPs. The proposed architecture can be implemented and dep.oyed as a proof of concept (PoC) for the usability and validity. © 2022 IEEE.

More home appliances were designed and manufactured in the market, but fewer commercial products related to water-flow monitoring are sold in the current market. Water-related costs and expenses are cheaper than others, but water is one of the critical survival necessities for human beings. Thus, the home appliances or the smart home needs to pay attention to ubiquitous water resources as one of the limited natural earth resources. We follow the above-mentioned issues to achieve an internet of things (IoT) based architecture to design a flow-monitoring information collecting device (FMICD). Hall sensors were used to collect the water-flow consumption and to upload the information of the environment monitor system which was implemented in the previous research. In the proposed architecture, the FMICDs are designed and developed with the MCU-based controller binding to a water-flow meter (Model: YF-S201) equipped to monitor water consumption. We implemented FMICDs in the Xinhe Elementary School in the Xindian District of New Taipei City in Taiwan to validate the usability and feasibility of the study with a website (http://***:9999/***) to offer related users and staff to validate the usability in the study. © 2022 IEEE.
