A data sender in an IP-based network is only capable of efficiently using a network path if it knows the packet size limit of the path, i.e., the Path Maximum Transmission Unit (PMTU). An IP router that cannot forward and must drop an oversized packet should notify the sender with a Packet Too Big (PTB) message, which contains the maximum packet size it can forward. A transport protocol supporting a discovery to determine the PMTU may use PTB messages. However, for the transport protocol QUIC (e.g., used by HTTP/3), we identified only a few implementations that determine the PMTU and none of them process PTB messages. In this paper, we present results from simulations that show how much a QUIC sender using PMTU discovery benefits from processing PTB messages, which includes a result that outlines the benefit of determining the PMTU in general. Further, we analyze the risk of using PTB messages and describe a way to protect against potential attacks with forged PTB messages.

In recent years, the wood product industry has been facing a skilled labor shortage. The result is more frequent sudden failures, resulting in additional costs for these companies already operating in a very competitive market. Moreover, sawmills are challenging environments for machinery and sensors. Given that experienced machine operators may be able to diagnose defects or malfunctions, one possible way of assisting novice operators is through acoustic monitoring. As a step towards the automation of wood-processing equipment and decision support systems for machine operators, in this paper, we explore using a deep convolutional autoencoder for acoustic anomaly detection of wood planers on a new real-life dataset. Specifically, our convolutional autoencoder with skip connections (Skip-CAE) and our Skip-CAE transformer outperform the DCASE autoencoder baseline, one-class SVM, isolation forest and a published convolutional autoencoder architecture, respectively obtaining an area under the ROC curve of 0.846 and 0.875 on a dataset of real-factory planer sounds. Moreover, we show that adding skip connections and attention mechanism under the form of a transformer encoder-decoder helps to further improve the anomaly detection capabilities. © 2025, CC BY.

In the given paper it is approached a method of the application of the Membrane Computing models in the design of IoT systems with Collective Intelligence properties. The topology of the IoT system is presented as a Mesh network that ensures a total interconnection of its devices. The Collective Intelligence definition model presents a Hopfield Neural Network based on the set of knowledge consisting of data and their processing models. The following were elaborated: cell structure, cell interaction diagram and the manner of formation of hierarchical structures and of Collective Intelligence. The synthesis process of an IoT system on the basis of Membrane Computing models with Collective Intelligence properties is presented by the sequence of operations that begins with the definition of the mathematical model and ends with the development of the structure of the IoT system on the basis of the programmable devices ESP8266. © 2021 IEEE.

the design decisions made in the architecture of a software system are essential to its maintainability, and thus its quality is of great importance. Architecture smells (ASs) can be used to identify any quality issues within the system. To further explore the relationships between ASs, stability, and reusability, Spearman correlation coefficients will be calculated. This paper seeks to examine the connection between architecture smells, software stability, and reusability. To do this, we utilized a dataset created by other researchers and conducted an empirical study of the associations between five types of architecture smells and software stability and reusability. This research is necessary as there is a lack of in-dep.h research on architecture smells and their relationship to software stability and reusability. We found a relationship between the presence of Feature Concentration in package and the stability and reusability of the package. Also, package's stability is affected by both Cyclic dep.ndency and Unstable dep.ndency. A slight positive correlation has been found between God Class and stability, as well as a very weak negative correlation between Unstable dep.ndency and reusability. Finally, we found a slight negative correlation between package stability and reusability. © 2024 IEEE.

Low altitude airspace economy applications will be of highly effective in a wide range of civil activities and will be a critical element in the smart cities of the future. In view of the main features of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), such as automatic piloting system, access to uninhabited areas, low cost compared to road and manned aircraft, shorter delivery time, and the ability to carry heavy payloads, it is important to recognize that UAVs can be used for a wide range of civil activities. With the development of these applications in full swing around the world, in addition to advanced communications technology and other related infrastructure, business demand and a favorable investment climate, clarity, definiteness and feasible regulations in the Taiwanese environment are also essential. Based on the premise of local economic strength, the technical level of the telecommunication industry, and commercial demands, Taiwan should establish a rational standard for the UAV regulatory system as soon as possible, so as to facilitate the development of UAM and to ensure the international competitiveness of the related technologies for market development © 2024 IEEE.

Image encryption is a reliable method for securely transmitting images over a network. The time required to encrypt and decrypt an image in online applications is also very important. Although cellular automata cryptography is an appropriate technique for parallelizing and accelerating cryptographic methods, its capacity cannot be demonstrated only in multi-core platforms. Thus, it is needed to parallelize cellular automata cryptography on Graphic Processor Units (GPUs) in order to significantly decrease the encryption/decryption time. In this paper, we propose a new parallel algorithm for two-dimensional cellular automata cryptography that is implemented on GPU. The proposed algorithm uses multiple threads at once to accelerate the bit-level permutation and substitution operations by taking into account the capacity of cellular automata in parallel processing. According to the study experimental findings, the proposed algorithm performs faster on GPU compared to a multicore platform while maintaining the same level of security in comparison to the serial algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

Supply chain is the universal link network to deliver the product from one place to another. Capability to trace and track the Agri-goods products is very important throughout various stages of the supplychain including manufacturing, processing, distribution, importation, and retail. Ensuring the safety, quality, and validation of agricultural products is very crucial. In traditional supply chain management, which often involves untrusted entities and data is centrally monitored and stored with all the transactions being processed through a centralized organization. However, this centralized system is vulnerable to hacking by third parties, which can result in data security issues and the potential for a single point failure. And the primary challenges include monitoring, the origin of agri-goods, tracing the logistics, and low level of security, trust, and transparency between the stakeholders which leads to implicit delays downstream of Agri goods, and decisions taken among different dep.rtments. In this study, we propose a consortium blockchain solution for tracing and tracking of agri-goods products. Blockchain has a rapidly evolving disruptive Technology and immutable chain structure that is linked sequentially according to chronological order. Which is achieved through the creation of smart contract algorithms between different entities and fostering communication among stakeholders in the agri-goods supply chain. The traceability of the agri-goods products, including their origin, safety, quality, and validation, is implemented through the integration of RFID (Radio frequency identifications) tags and readers. Additionally, the solution incorporates a blockchain-enabled ultra-light weight mutual authentication RFID protocol for provide the security and resist the possible vulnerabilities.

While more home appliances are designed and manufactured, Sonoff serial home assistant alliances are designed and manufactured by eWeLink for many cheap and convenient devices controlled with exclusive APPs. Sonoff home assistant alliances are popular and well-known to attract many developers who can develop unofficial software to enhance the closed APPs designed by eWeLink and make flexible applications based on original hardware such as Tasmota and parameterized open-source APPs. We follow the above-mentioned developers to design a firmware that controls and is controlled based on message queue telemetry transport (MQTT) protocol from a cloud platform and the internet of thing (IoT) based architecture. The Sonoff home assistant alliances installed by the designed firmware can be controlled with one or more groups through a clouding platform by existing physical power-sockets from one-to-one controlling by eWeLink APPs. Under the proposed architecture, those Sonoff serial home assistant alliances are easily used like traditional power sockets for old-age users, who only use physical switches with touch-panel with MCU-based controllers to control power sockets. We designed digital switches on the website by browsers and physical touch panels as traditional switches work indep.ndently and coexist to meet most users with software-based APPs. The proposed architecture can be implemented and dep.oyed as a proof of concept (PoC) for the usability and validity. © 2022 IEEE.

Recent studies in Legal NLP showed the lack of structured data to train Deep Learning models in several tasks. With the increased importance of privacy policies in the current digital world, the research community released multiple datasets related to privacy policies in the last few years. However, other empirical studies have shown the lack of transferability between domain-specific language models in a legal subdomain to other more separate subdomains. With the focus on privacy policies, models are not tested on other policies. In this work, we release the CSIAC-DoDIN V1.0 dataset, focused on cybersecurity policies, responsibilities, and procedures of the organizations involved. This first version offers classic Legal NLP tasks such as several Multiclass Classification tasks and text co-occurrence. Furthermore, we also provide a baseline for this dataset and tasks with experiments using classic transformer-based language models such as BERT, RoBERTa, Legal-BERT, and PrivBERT.

This paper searches into the convergence of such ad-vanced techniques with architectures like DenseNet201, VGG16, InceptionResNetV2, and NasNetMobile. Our focus centers on harnessing deep learning capabilities for the precise detection of eye ailments. Preliminary findings spotlight a notable uplift in diagnostic precision. Among the tested algorithms, the Nas-NetMobile architecture emerged superior, boasting an impressive accuracy rate of 92% on the chosen dataset. Through this work, we extend a significant advancement in the realm of automated eye disease diagnosis, potentially equipping medical professionals with sharper, swifter diagnostic tools. The outcomes presented herein could play a seminal role in sculpting more sophisticated and precise diagnostic approaches within ophthalmology.
