The field of research known as 'parallel processing' examines architectural and algorithmic methods for increasing the efficiency and other desirable qualities (such as cost-effectiveness and reliability) of computers by exploiting many forms of concurrency. The development of multi-core CPUs has opened the door to novel strategies for boosting system performance via parallelism. Increasing the number of concurrent threads greatly affects the time cost. While increased parallelism might reduce calculation time, the associated synchronization costs would likely be prohibitive for most applications. In this article, we'll go through the first half of the process, which involves gathering requirements and designing a prototype;the second half, which involves monitoring and managing a program that can run on a wide range of multicore system architectures, including those with (2, 4, and 8 CPUs). A shared-memory parallel processing method was proposed and built to show off the system's full potential. The implications of multi-core systems on overall program execution time and parallel processing in shared-memory systems provide the backbone of this investigation. © 2022 IEEE.

A data sender in an IP based network is only capable to efficiently use a network path if it knows the packet size limit of the path, i.e., the Path Maximum Transmission Unit (PMTU). The IETF recently specified a PMTU discovery framework for transport protocols like QUIC. This paper complements this specification by presenting a search algorithm. In addition, it defines several metrics and shows results of analyses for the algorithm with various PMTU candidate sequences using these metrics. We integrated the PMTU discovery with our algorithm into a QUIC simulation model. This paper describes the integration and presents measurements obtained by simulations. © 2021 ACM.

Image encryption is a reliable method for securely transmitting images over a network. The time required to encrypt and decrypt an image in online applications is also very important. Although cellular automata cryptography is an appropriate technique for parallelizing and accelerating cryptographic methods, its capacity cannot be demonstrated only in multi-core platforms. Thus, it is needed to parallelize cellular automata cryptography on Graphic Processor Units (GPUs) in order to significantly decrease the encryption/decryption time. In this paper, we propose a new parallel algorithm for two-dimensional cellular automata cryptography that is implemented on GPU. The proposed algorithm uses multiple threads at once to accelerate the bit-level permutation and substitution operations by taking into account the capacity of cellular automata in parallel processing. According to the study experimental findings, the proposed algorithm performs faster on GPU compared to a multicore platform while maintaining the same level of security in comparison to the serial algorithm.

Blockchain Hybrid-model Scheme for Scalable Cross-domain Authorisation

We introduce a novel blockchain-based inter-ledger authorization scheme, a unique solution designed to support delegated authorization management in cross-domain cloud environments. This innovative approach enables client applications, acting on behalf of a user, to request access to specific resources owned by a different organization. It benefits cross-domain multi-cloud applications, such as large-scale collaboration projects involving multiple cloud service providers. Multi-cloud presents authorization challenges because of complex access control operations in multiple distinct domains. OAuth2 is the state-of-the-art choice for delegated authorization. However, it falls short in handling such complex interactions with multiple authorization servers and resource servers, and this is our motivation. Compared to OAuth2, our approach overcomes the limitations of a centralized model and achieves coordinated distinct delegations among multiple entities without a third-party trusted component. Authorization servers are blockchain participants and designated access token issuers, ensuring minimum client data collection and promoting client privacy. Multiple smart contracts are dep.oyed in our multi-ledger blockchain environment to guarantee the provenance of the authorization operations and facilitate scalable cross-domain authorization. Our ‘hybrid inter-ledger model’, combines security techniques such as blockchain-based device authentication, hashed-time locks (HTCLs), and service discovery. The blockchain-based device authentication ensures secure and trusted interactions, HTCLs enable time-bound transactions, and service discovery simplifies finding and connecting to the required cloud services. Our experimental evaluation provides insights into the scalability of our approach, which achieves decentralized authorization in a multi-cloud environment with acceptable latencies compared to related works and shows stable throughput against concurrent authorization reque

Personal computers and the Internet are used in different areas and are easier to use. Most data is easy to transmit and duplicate in digital format, and being tampered with and stolen easily leads to issues for content owners and service providers. The Paper describes a secure (tampering-resistant) method for watermarking images for protection and authentication and digital media like audio, video, and multimedia data, and a combination of singular value decomposition (SVD) and Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) for insertion watermark by MATLAB to increase accuracy, simplicity, and flexibility Readability, secure robustness, and imperceptibility the visibility of the image. The proposed algorithm consists of three main steps: Firstly, we decomposed the original image into four sub-bands and the original watermark. Secondly, embed the watermark in the LL sub-band by replacing the singular value for the watermark. Finally, embed a watermark in the other three sub-bands by adding LL values for a watermark in each sub-band in the original image. © 2024 IEEE.

Using machine learning in clinical practice poses hard requirements on explainability, reliability, replicability and robustness of these systems. Therefore, developing reliable software for monitoring critically ill patients requires close collaboration between physicians and software engineers. However, these two different disciplines need to find own research perspectives in order to contribute to both the medical and the software engineering domain. In this paper, we address the problem of how to establish a collaboration where software engineering and medicine meets to design robust machine learning systems to be used in patient care. We describe how we designed software systems for monitoring patients under carotid endarterectomy, in particular focusing on the process of knowledge building in the research team. Our results show what to consider when setting up such a collaboration, how it develops over time and what kind of systems can be constructed based on it. We conclude that the main challenge is to find a good research team, where different competences are committed to a common goal. © 2021 IEEE.

Quantum cryptanalysis methods are used to crack the majority of symmetric key ciphers. With this knowledge, cryptologists should be able to create post-quantum symmetric ciphers by incorporating these new quantum cryptanalysis techniques into their toolkit. Secure communication is crucial for applications related to the Internet of Things (IoT) to avoid cyberattacks. Cryptographic hash functions can be used to protect data integrity. The development of large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computers is the most significant challenge. Recent techniques to attack symmetric key schemes can be achieved by using the Pre-image attack method, Simon’s algorithm, or by combining Simon’s and Grover’s algorithms. In this study, we explored some of the most recent methods for quantum cryptanalysis of symmetric key ciphers. Firstly, we discussed the design of quantum cryptanalysis methods, along with the advantages over classical procedures. In this paper, we illustrate the implementation of the NIST-standard lightweight hash function PHOTON-Beetle on a Quantum computer (using IBM Qiskit), which is mostly used in IoT devices. Efficient quantum implementation of PHOTON-Beetle is proposed in this paper. This paper calculates the quantum cost of PHOTON-Beetle for every layer and compares it with [1].

The interrogation of optic fiber sensors usually relies in complex and costly equipment with low portability due to their size such as Optical Spectrum Analyzers (OSA) or high-resolution spectrometers. Because of this, micro spectrometer devices, such as Micro-Electromechanical systems (MEMS) with Fabry-Pérot tunable filters, are emerging as simpler and compact alternatives capable of being used to acquire spectral information in a wide wavelength band. In this work it is described the development of an interrogation system capable of infrared spectroscopy using a MEMS Fabry-Pérot Interferometer (MEMS-FPI) with a spectral response in the 1350nm to 1650nm range. Its performance is tested with the interrogation of long period fiber gratings both as a refractive index sensor and as a temperature sensor. Deconvolution techniques such as Wiener filtering are used to reduce the impact of the tunable filter's impulse response in the measured signal. Results are comparable to those obtained using a typical OSA which shows the system's potential as a cheaper and more transportable alternative. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This work is focused on the controller chip design/implementation of serial-parallel-switched-capacitor coupled-inductor (SPSCCI) inverter applied to high-gain boost DC-AC conversion. The controlled plant is its power part made up of SPSCCI booster and DC-link inverter to perform a practical DC-AC conversion from 12V to 110VRMS, 60Hz. Here, for achieving this goal, the controller is its control part constructed by sinusoidal pulse-width-modulation (SPWM) compensator plus phase generator, and then is implemented under Cadence full-custom design through pre-layout simulation (PRE-SIM) and post-layout simulation (POST-SIM) on a fabricated chip of integrated circuit: no. D35-105B-E0008, TSMC $0.35\mu \mathrm{m}$ 2P4M, $1500\times 1500\mu \mathrm{m}^{2}$, 5.0V, 2.68mW, max frequency 200kHz. Finally, with the help of this controller chip, a closed-loop prototype circuit of this SPSCCI can be realized and verified experimentally for some test cases of DC-AC to validate the feasibility of this inverter. © 2020 IEEE.

The exploitation of renewable energy sources is nowadays a fundamental factor for the sustainable development and the transition to low a carbon energy production system. However, the fluctuating and unpredictable behavior of energy sources like wind complicates their integration into energy systems and they need to be coupled with storage systems to fully exploit their potential. The main objective of this paper is thus to develop a novel Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) algorithm capable of providing the optimal sizing and management of a hydrogen storage unit within a Hybrid Renewable Energy System (HRES) in which the produced energy is sold to the power grid. The algorithm has been validated with data from a case study located in Italy. The Hybrid Renewable Energy System under investigation is constituted by a hydropower plant, a wind turbine and a hydrogen storage system. The latter is composed of a Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (PEM) electrolyzer, four pressurized hydrogen tanks, and a PEM fuel cell. The optimal management has been obtained by responding to a unit commitment analysis.
