SPARQL query rewriting is a fundamental mechanism for uniformly querying heterogeneous ontologies in the Linked Data Web. However, the complexity of ontology alignments, particularly rich correspondences (c: c), makes this process challenging. Existing approaches primarily focus on simple (s: s) and partially complex (s: c) alignments, thereby overlooking the challenges posed by more expressive alignments. Moreover, the intricate syntax of SPARQL presents a barrier for non-expert users seeking to fully exploit the knowledge encapsulated in ontologies. This article proposes an innovative approach for the automatic rewriting of SPARQL queries from a source ontology to a target ontology, based on a user's need expressed in natural language. It leverages the principles of equivalence transitivity as well as the advanced capabilities of large language models such as GPT-4. By integrating these elements, this approach stands out for its ability to efficiently handle complex alignments, particularly (c: c) correspondences, by fully exploiting their expressiveness. Additionally, it facilitates access to aligned ontologies for users unfamiliar with SPARQL, providing a flexible solution for querying heterogeneous data. © 2025, CC BY.

THE DUAL PC ALGORITHM AND THE ROLE OF GAUSSIANITY FOR STRUCTURE LEARNING OF BAYESIAN NETWORKS

Learning the graphical structure of Bayesian networks is key to describing data-generating mechanisms in many complex applications but poses considerable computational challenges. Observational data can only identify the equivalence class of the directed acyclic graph underlying a Bayesian network model, and a variety of methods exist to tackle the problem. Under certain assumptions, the popular PC algorithm can consistently recover the correct equivalence class by reverse-engineering the conditional indep.ndence (CI) relationships holding in the variable distribution. The dual PC algorithm is a novel scheme to carry out the CI tests within the PC algorithm by leveraging the inverse relationship between covariance and precision matrices. By exploiting block matrix inversions we can also perform tests on partial correlations of complementary (or dual) conditioning sets. The multiple CI tests of the dual PC algorithm proceed by first considering marginal and full-order CI relationships and progressively moving to central-order ones. Simulation studies show that the dual PC algorithm outperforms the classic PC algorithm both in terms of run time and in recovering the underlying network structure, even in the presence of deviations from Gaussianity. Additionally, we show that the dual PC algorithm applies for Gaussian copula models, and demonstrate its performance in that setting. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Context Agile software development (ASD) aims to deliver high-quality software. However, software quality often gets less attention due to focus on *** an evidence-based quality-aware ASD process that organizations can use to create a more quality-aware development process and improve software *** methodUsing design science research, we collaborated with four organizations applying ASD in different contexts. Involving a total of 35 practitioners, we designed company-specific evidence-based quality-aware ASD processes, which were validated through simulated scenarios, implemented, and evaluated by the practitioners. ResultsA general ASD process model, derived from the company-specific models, was created, which shows the specific activities, frequencies, roles, and development phases where evidence can be used to improve software quality. The new process model contributed towards improved bottleneck identification, release readiness, and quality issues prioritization. We also learned that companies must be mindful of the rules that determine the use of evidence. Conclusion Integrating the use of quality related evidence into the ASD process can make it quality-aware, supporting software quality management, and enabling timely reaction through fast feedback loops. The evidence-based quality-aware ASD process is applicable in any Scrum-like ASD process. Applicability in other forms of ASD, however, requires further research. © 2023, The Authors. Large scale penetration of wind power to the grid and unevenly spread power demand can result in the transmission system not being able to dispatch all the produced wind power, causing in wind power *** line rating (DLR) is a technology which uses thermal properties of overhead conductors and weather data to determine the real-time ampacity limits of transmission lines. In general, dynamic rating allows extending capacity limits of power lines and helps to remove congestion in the grid.(/p)(p This study looks into the possibility of using dynamic line rating for removing congestion in the power system to allow dispatching more wind power and minimize the need for curtailment. The results of case-studies have shown that DLR allows to significantly reduce the curtailment of generation, especially during winter, when wind production is highest and day time, when the power demand is the highest. © 2020 IEEE.

This paper reports on the effects of 30.5 GHz continuous wave exposure on cancer stem cells of glioblastoma organoids. The exposure setup was completely developed and the dosimetry carried on based on both numerical and experimental activities. Our results showed modification in cell death and proliferation, suggesting that presented exposure at a power level of 0.1 W (RMS) seems useful for targeting glioblastoma cells, and improving future treatment of this complex pathology.

In this paper, feedforward and feedback controllers are studied considering decoupled periodic event-triggering mechanisms for output and disturbance sensors. Stability and robustness conditions for linear systems are obtained considering transportation delays and actuator saturation following the Lyapunov-Krasovskii procedure. A numerical example shows that the proposed control strategy reduces the communication between sensors and controller significantly, while the system performance is not deteriorated.

The paper presents results obtained after review and analysis of three mathematical models (Van der Pol, Lienard and FitzHugh-Nagumo) for investigation of dynamics of microwave radio-frequency devices based on a resonant tunneling diodes. A simple circuit of a non-autonomous radio-frequency device based on a resonant tunneling diode was proposed. A simplified mathematical model of Van der Pol was used. Mathematical modeling of electrical oscillation dynamics for the non-autonomous radio-frequency device based on a resonant tunneling diode was performed. Phase portraits of the non-autonomous radio-frequency device, time diagrams and amplitude spectra of its input and output signals in modes of fractional multiplication and division of frequency were obtained. © 2020 IEEE.

Two years ago, Meta was born, accompanied by the announcement of the Metaverse. The Metaverse would be a collection of 3D immersive ecosystems for people’s socialization. This innovative idea should allow one to live in the Metaverse as in real life without physical barriers. Attending shows, concerts, virtual travel, and caring for one’s health or education should be possible. In sum, a new marketplace is born. Amid such newness, the question of how businesses may benefit from the Metaverse arises. Albeit tech businesses must be comfortable and adapted to the potentialities of the new marketplace, the entrance of the low-techs may be more problematic. The study brings together a panel of academic experts to reflect on these questions. They agree that there is a myriad of potentialities in the new marketplace, not only for B2C but also for B2B. Low-techs may be less adapted to benefit from the Metaverse. A following-the-wave strategy must be avoided. On the contrary, investing in understanding the new paradigm and careful planning is essential. The Metaverse has no physical barriers, which tend to limit low-techs’ actions. Their nonexistence creates new opportunities and must be where customers are, after all. The Metaverse, however, still needs development to gain critical mass. Hardware easy to use, its cost, speedy and cheap Internet, and mainly, trustable and recognized currencies are still required. The Clean Energy for all Europeans policy package has opened the way for a major transition of the European energy landscape towards customer empowerment and local energy markets development. The European Green Deal, the Fit for 55 % package and the European Directives revision are pushing forward Renewable Energy Communities, which will disrupt the energy sector and overcome limitations of existing rigid energy markets. The rise of distributed energy technologies is fostering the development of customer-centered services such as peer-to-peer energy trading. However, adequate tools and business models to interface and engage with energy markets are still lacking. The H2020 FleXunity project is addressing the emerging market needs by developing a technological platform, that combines advanced artificial intelligence algorithms, blockchain technology and demand response services, to exploit new business models that could value the aggregation of small-scale energy assets. Although the concept of these platforms is relatively well known, their real-world implementation and validation is still at an early stage. This paper presents the FleXunity project's main objectives, details of the Virtual Power Plant managing Platform under development and the characteristics of two distinct real world pilot Energy Communities already dep.oyed in the UK and Iberia. It also presents an analysis of the role that Demand Response activities and indep.ndent aggregation could play in Energy Communities, and specifically explores the role of Demand Response in the balancing markets of Finland, UK, Spain, and Portugal. Focusing on the pilot markets, the project also identifies the most promising balancing services to be provided by Energy Communities, by surveying and framing the existing regulatory qualification requirements. © 2022 European Council for an Energy Efficient Economy. With the population in metro cities rising, traffic congestion has become a significant issue, resulting in an alarming number of traffic collisions and road accidents. Given the advancements in automated vehicles, it is crucial to have a vehicle detection system that is equipped to handle the various challenges that arise on the road, particularly when it comes to traffic collisions. Although many datasets are available to support object detection for traffic monitoring and management, the suitability of these datasets for specific weather conditions across the globe needs to be analyzed. We present Canadian vehicle datasets (CVD) and analyze the YOLOv8-based deep learning model using CVD. Thales, Canada, captured street-level videos in Quebec City, Canada, with a vehicle equipped with a high-quality RGB camera. The videos are taken day and night in all four seasons: rain, snow, hazy, and bright sunlight. We created 27378 labels for 11 classes for 8000 images. The YOLOv8 model trained on the publicly available roboFlow dataset was compared to the model trained on the combined roboflow and our weather-specific CVD.
