This study examines decision-making in software re-engineering within businesses, focusing on the challenges and considerations involved. Financial constraints, time, and staff efforts are critical factors in these decisions. The study identifies difficulties faced by top-level management with legacy systems, existing systems, underused systems, and packaged software due to user resistance and customer dissatisfaction. The primary goal of the study is to assess the importance of software quality factors, especially from the users' perspective, in making re-engineering decisions. It uses the ISO 9126 Model to analyze quality elements in the case study software, aiming to provide guidance for deciding whether to proceed with re-engineering. The study explores functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability as factors influencing re-engineering decisions, based on the ISO 9126 model. To understand user interactions and program performance, the study used unstructured participant observation in the case study software, highlighting the challenges faced by top management due to user resistance. These findings were further confirmed through face-to-face interviews with software users and dep.rtment employees, offering insights into their perspectives on software quality elements. The results reveal that, despite some flaws, the system has valuable features and capabilities. Most employees express a desire to undergo re-engineering to enhance service quality, align with ISO 9126 standards, and leverage the expertise of competent staff for re-engineering activities. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper introduces an innovative Energy Management System (EMS) designed to reduce the cost of energy flows in a Hybrid Renewable Energy System (HRES) connected to a grid with an Energy Storage System (ESS) based on lithium-ion electric batteries. This study considers power purchase and sale tariffs, as well as costs associated with the battery wear contingent upon its State of Charge (SoC). The proposed EMS combines three Fuzzy Logic Controllers (FLCs) arranged in a cascade to regulate battery intensity with a Hysteresis-Based Calculation algorithm (HBC) in a supervisory control hierarchy to establish charge and discharge setpoints. Its goal is to minimise the energy flow costs at the current instant while maintaining the power supply to the loads. Two generation and consumption scenarios were simulated, one of which was a test case for examining all possible power-balanced situations. The results were compared with the optimal costs obtained by the Bellman-Ford algorithm (BFA). This research concludes that the intelligent EMS proposed is reliable in reducing the operating costs of the HRES, and it posits itself as a more reliable and computationally cost-effective alternative to the optimisation techniques. © 2024, The Authors. This article proposes a novel methodology to analyze risks in digital currencies. It dep.nds on the perceptions of users in social media to recognize and estimate the potential risks. Besides, it includes utilizing high-level computational techniques such as big data analysis techniques and natural language processing. We illustrate the suggested system mathematically and some important expressions for risk analysis, risk recognition and risk estimation are driven in closed forms. Moreover, we present a use case study to extract insights about the potential risks related to digital currencies. Further, some indicators are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the suggested approach like the mean accuracy for processes of analyzing risks, identifying risks and assessing risks assessment that is 77 %. © 2023 IEEE.

The rapid rise of commercially available drones, driven by miniaturization and affordability, has introduced potential security risks alongside numerous societal benefits. While drones serve various industries, their unregulated use necessitates robust detection and classification methods. This paper proposes a novel, efficient model for classifying unwanted drone activity. We leverage statistical and time-domain features extracted from radio frequency (RF) signals and machine learning (ML) classifiers. This approach aims to not only detect drones but also distinguish their models and operational modes. Utilizing the DroneRF dataset, our feature selection strategy prioritizes informative signals in the low-band spectrum, achieving {100%} accuracy in both drone detection and drone model identification tasks. Furthermore, our hybrid model, combining time-domain and frequency-domain features, achieves an accuracy of {97.66%} in classifying different flight modes. This demonstrates the effectiveness of this comprehensive feature extraction approach for drone activity classification. © 2024 IEEE.

We propose a hybrid forecasting model that includes time series segmentation, which is based on the DBScan clustering algorithm, and a penalty spline. Each step of the hybrid model required modification for real-time use. The DBScan density-based algorithm was supplemented with technology for working with noise and transition between clusters. A recurrent penalty spline model has low computational complexity and, accordingly, high forecasting speed inside the hybrid model. The forecast efficiency was assessed by a number of indicators that reflect predictive efficiency and extrapolation accuracy of using synthetic, model and real TS. Accuracy indicators (MSPE, MAPE) are below 4%. In comparison with other widely-spread forecasting methods, the proposed hybrid algorithm ranks among the known algorithms. © 2024 IEEE.

The process of selecting a leader to avoid instability in distributed system network after leader failure is called Leader Election Algorithm (LEA). This process becomes more complicated when it faces intermittent or complete links disconnected. the network becomes a one-way behavior if both lines of communication between two points are disrupted and thus the network becomes very slow, especially in systems where time is a critical issue, and the process of communication between points becomes much slower if the network leader is next to the fault or close to it, so the criteria will be established to ensures that the system leader in the Bidirectional ring communication network is in a place that allows next leader to communicate with all points as quickly as possible, and this will be during the election *** research presents a solution for leader failure problem in bidirectional ring network. This research takes into account the existence of intermittent or disconnection links between nodes. It will produce three algorithms to determine a new leader in the network with maximum network performance. It uses the least probability of time steps and the number of messages needed to elect the new leader in bidirectional ring network with N communicated nodes. so that the system remains able to work and communicate with its best capacity during this problem with the number of message complexity O(N) in the worst case. The third scenario minimizes the value of proper leader ID IDCurrent/IDCurrent-idStepCount', and maximizes the value of proper leader place N - (N - nStepCount). © 2024 IEEE.

This paper aimed to suggest a new Secured Hash Algorithm 3 (SHA-3) with seed value implementation. Seed worth ensuring that there are fewer expectations collisions, despite an attacker selecting the data. Furthermore, attackers who combine seed values with hash functions are prevented from exploiting the properties of a hash function to construct many security attacks, such as denial of service attacks and dictionary attacks. A novel approach to enhanced SHA-3 diffusion was proposed here by XORing the seed value with θ step result after transforming the seed bits into a 5 × 5 × 64 matrix and discarding the rest. © 2023 IEEE.

Freezing of Gait (FoG) is a common and disabling symptom in Parkinson’s Disease (PD), characterized by a sudden and temporary inability to initiate or continue walking. FoG arises from various factors such as environmental triggers, or physiological status of people with Parkinson’s. Traditional methods for preventing or alleviating FoG have limitations, prompting exploration into new technologies, such as the combination of sensing technologies and Deep Learning (DL) and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms. However, recognizing FoG with sensors and ML/DL poses challenges, such as the generalizability of the FoG recognition models over different individuals. Moreover, current approaches often require extensive time and effort to personalize the FoG recognition models. To mitigate these challenges, we propose a system that reduces the workload for creating personalized models through a fine-tuning approach. Our methodology has undergone rigorous testing in a subject-indep.ndent setup on a self-collected dataset of 22 subjects. Through the fine-tuning phase, we observed a remarkable average increase of up to $20.9 \%$ in F1-score performance compared to the training and testing approach without fine-tuning.
