In this paper, we propose a method of face detection based on feature analysis and edge detection against skin colorlike backgrounds. The proposed method consists of three phases including image preprocessing, skin color segmentation, and determination of face candidates. First, the objects in foreground are separated by image preprocessing. Second, the non-skin color objects are rejected by the method of skin color segmentation. Finally, both the elimination of skin color-like blobs in backgrounds and face detection are performed by the method of determination of face candidates. Experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively detect most of faces in skin color-like backgrounds. In addition, detection of face images with pose and expression variations or against dark backgrounds are also carried out. © 2010 IEEE.

Verlhust logistic map f(x) = r x (1 - x) is a widely studied and applicable model in discrete dynamical system. Its behavior has been, extensively, studied in Picard orbit and recently studied in superior orbit. Rani et. al. [22] and [25] has shown that in superior orbit, logistic map is stable for larger values of r than that of Picard orbit. In this paper, we have attempted to make the map stable for further larger values of r via I-superior iterates. © 2010 IEEE.

Process management systems play an important role for today's information systems. They coordinate the work items among employees and ensure the correct execution of processes. In this paper we focus on the organizational perspective of process management systems. This perspective is responsible for assigning people together with their roles within business organizations to process execution. A key issue in integrating the organizational perspective into processes is the strategy for selecting people to execute work steps. This assignment is the basis for collaboration among the people of an organization within a process-based application. We implemented our approach in ESProNa, a Logtalk application running in SWI-Prolog extended with the Thea library providing direct and complete support for OWL2 ontologies. The use of these languages allows the definition of comprehensive organizational constraints. We will cover both, the definition of these constraints in the process model, and their interpretation by the process execution engine. Further we will show how the organizational perspective impacts the order of process execution, i. e. the way of collaboration between the assigned people decisively. © 2010 ICST.

Acquisition of pervasive sensor data can be often unsuccessful due to power outage at nodes, time synchronization issues, interference, network transmission failures or sensor hardware issues. Such failures can lead to inadequate data delivery to the monitoring applications resulting in erroneous conclusions. This paper presents a missing values substitution framework that addresses the aforementioned issue. The presented framework has been evaluated within a pervasive sensor monitoring environment that collects and transmits patient health related data and results have been presented. In this paper, we present an approach for designing security warnings in vehicles for software based security incidents. With this we pursue the goal of reducing safety relevant component failures, which can be caused by manipulated or malicious software. The basis of our work is a theoretical analysis of the correlation of manipulated software (including malware) in automotive systems with the safety relevant failures of system components. We describe the potential of a security warning, which can be presented in time ahead of a traditional safety warning: The latter would only indicate safety-relevant implications that potentially arise later as an implication of the preceding security incident. In this paper we suggest three exemplary icons for a combined security-safety warning. Combined warning means a warning not at the time of a safety-relevant failure but already in the detection of the security-violation (e.g. manipulated software in the vehicle). An essential precondition is a recognition algorithm for such malicious software, which has been examined in previous research like [3]. Based on theoretical analyses, we introduce an exemplary design for the testing of these warnings in a virtual environment, precisely, in a driving simulator. A couple of factors play a central role in such evaluations, such as: perception, reaction of the driver, interpretation of warnings and security awareness. The results can be interpreted in the context of the fundamental aim: the reduction of accidents by security alerts. They thus serve as a recommended course of action for implementation in future vehicles. © 2010 ACM.

A system that uses adaptive beamforming techniques for mobile Digital Video Broadcasting Satellite (DVB-S) reception is proposed in this paper. The purpose is to enable DVB-S reception in moving vehicles. Phased arrays are able to electronically track the desired signal during dynamic behaviour of the vehicle the array is mounted on. The proposed system uses blind beamforming to adapt the array steering vector to changing signal (conditions and) directions. Movement of the vehicle, the phased array is mounted on, leads to modulus and phase deviations at the beamformer output. An extended version of the Constant Modulus Algorithm (CMA) algorithm is used to adapt the steering vector weights to compensate for those deviations. For simulation of the proposed system a model of vehicle dynamics is used to generate realistic antenna data. Simulation of the proposed system based on this antenna data shows appropriate corrections for modulus and phase deviations. ©2010 IEEE.

Excessive lose of customer account is becoming a major headache for VIP E-Mail hosting companies. Analysis of what kind of customer is more prone to lose and finding the appropriate measures to sustain those customers has become urgent needs. Recently, classification models based on mathematical programming have been widely used in business intelligence. The purpose of this paper is to propose several multiple criteria programming methods for classification and apply these methods to VIP E-Mail behavior classification. We first introduce a model for a generalized multiple criteria programming based classification method, specifically four particular forms, and then we use a cross-validation method to test the stability and accuracy of multiple criteria programming methods on VIP E-Mail accounts. Finally, we compare our models with Support Vector Machine (SVM). The results show that the classification models based on mathematical programming are satisfactorily accurate and stable on a VIP E-Mail dataset. Therefore, it can be concluded that applying the proposed method on VIP E-Mail behavior analysis can provide stable and credible results. © 2010 - IOS Press and the authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we develop a rescue robot that searches for the victim in the disaster scene. To go into a narrow space in such a scene, size of the robot should be small. But the ability to pass over the trench and the rubble is important. We propose the crawler type robot which has the expandable side crawler. This mechanism can enlarge the mobility of the robot by expanding the side crawler when it is necessary. And this rescue robot pass the rubble by using the side crawler as the arm. So that the swing mechanism for the side crawler is also installed. Details of the developed robot and several experiments are denoted in this paper.

The type of the leaf vein can be a useful parameter in automatic identification of plant species. Leaf vein extraction is the precondition of discriminating the leaf vein type. In this paper a new method is presented for leaf vein extraction based on mathematical morphology. Firstly, the color image of the plant leaf is transformed to gray image according to the hue and intensity information. Secondly, a combined operation of mathematical morphology is applied to the image to eliminate the color overlap between the whole leaf vein and the whole background. Thirdly, image segmentation is performed with OSTU method. Finally, the leaf vein can be got after some processing on details. Experiments have been conducted with several images and the results show the effectiveness of the method. The basic idea of the method is also applicable to other linear objects extraction. ©2010 IEEE.

In this paper we present a glancing review of how to define the time schedule of Simulated Annealing (SA) algorithm in different articles that applied them to solve the traveling salesman problem (TSP). In the following subjects we introduce a new definition of this concept in relation to other parameters. In other word, we claim a novel description of initial temperature, Markov chain and final temperature to the basic algorithm of SA that gives an introduction to New Time Schedule Simulated Annealing (NTSSA). In this method, the dynamic coincidence of time schedule parameters and temperature conditions is a possible happening among the searching process. In continuation we present the obtaining results of proposed algorithm in solving TSP in comparison with basic methods of SA and other intelligent optimization methods. The surprising improvement in results obtained by this approach shows the efficiency of NTSSA in contrast with other basic optimization methods.
