Multiple criteria programming models for VIP E-Mail behavior analysis

Excessive lose of customer account is becoming a major headache for VIP E-Mail hosting companies. Analysis of what kind of customer is more prone to lose and finding the appropriate measures to sustain those customers has become urgent needs. Recently, classification models based on mathematical programming have been widely used in business intelligence. The purpose of this paper is to propose several multiple criteria programming methods for classification and apply these methods to VIP E-Mail behavior classification. We first introduce a model for a generalized multiple criteria programming based classification method, specifically four particular forms, and then we use a cross-validation method to test the stability and accuracy of multiple criteria programming methods on VIP E-Mail accounts. Finally, we compare our models with Support Vector Machine (SVM). The results show that the classification models based on mathematical programming are satisfactorily accurate and stable on a VIP E-Mail dataset. Therefore, it can be concluded that applying the proposed method on VIP E-Mail behavior analysis can provide stable and credible results. © 2010 - IOS Press and the authors. All rights reserved.

Each node equipped with multiple interfaces in multi-channel wireless mesh networks can increase the network throughput when applied to appropriate channel assignment and routing protocols. In this paper,we analyze the channel assignment and channel switching problems in WMN where the number of interfaces is smaller than the number of channels. Ripple effect caused by channel switching is presented. The method to restrict the distance of ripple effect and to balance the load among channels is given. We also advance the Weighted Expected Residual Transmission Rate (WERTR)-a load-aware routing metric-to select a best quality route which is suitable for use with our proposed channel assignment strategy.

In recent years, power electronic components introduce harmonic pollution on electric power systems. It makes the traditional electromechanical power meter can not act accurately when it feeds unbalanced and harmonic loads. Power quality analysis now tends to use digital signal technology. But it is hard to avoid measurement errors in estimating power quality by digital signal technology. In this paper, it is to improve the computation errors by using FPGA. The simulation circuits were created and measured by Matlab. Then it will discuss the case of single-phase full-wave bridge rectifier loads. And then in the three-phase circuit the effective power factor, arithmetic power factor, and fundamental power factor will be compared in several simulation cases. The computation errors have been greatly reduced. In the study, the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is used to analyze the formula of power factor. The simulation system was modeled in Hardware Description Language (VHDL) and some novel IP (intellectual property) cores, such as CORDIC core and FFT core by the way of Bottom-Up. Design of SOC (System on a Chip) is a trend to achieve the strong and small volume in the future.

This paper presents a generalized direct power control (DPC) scheme for grid connected multilevel converters. The proposed method extends the original DPC operating principle by considering only for selection the closest vectors to the present switching state. This approach requires the power derivatives for feedback, which can present numerical implementation problems in real time. Therefore a grid virtual flux based observer is proposed to overcome this issue. The proposed method is applicable to any multilevel converter topology of any number of levels. In this paper simulations results are presented for a 9 level cascaded H-bridge converter. The proposed solution enables DPC for multilevel converters used in medium voltage applications while improving overall power quality and efficiency of the system.

In this paper, we propose a method of face detection based on feature analysis and edge detection against skin color-like backgrounds. The proposed method consists of three phases including image preprocessing, skin color segmentation, and determination of face candidates. First, the objects in foreground are separated by image preprocessing. Second, the non-skin color objects are rejected by the method of skin color segmentation. Finally, both the elimination of skin color-like blobs in backgrounds and face detection are performed by the method of determination of face candidates. Experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively detect most of faces in skin color-like backgrounds. In addition, detection of face images with pose and expression variations or against dark backgrounds are also carried out.

Various approaches to control aeroelastic wing section with structural nonlinearity emerged in the last years. One of the approaches is based on the Tensor Product (TP) model transformation and the feasibility test of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) under the Parallel Distributed Compensation framework. The main contribution of this paper is that it extends the previously established qLPV model of the aeroelastic wing section with nonlinear friction. It is proven that the extended model can be exactly described after TP type polytopic decomposition. The qLPV model of the aeroelastic wing section with Coulomb friction was transformed to TP type polytopic model form for which LMI based controller was designed. The designed controller is compared to controllers of other authors dealing with the same problem.

This paper is to study the object coverage problem in visual sensor networks. When sensors equipped camera with rotating capability in the monitoring environment are dep.oyed randomly, the images of target object with circle shape may be captured by different camera nodes in different orientations at the same time. In order to achieve the full coverage of an object, there might be lots of redundant image data to consume the transmission energy in visual sensor networks. An approach is proposed to reduce the cover set of camera nodes by rotating cameras of sensors. Such a set can cover the entire object using as few sensors as possible. In addition, a mapping is proposed for find out the coverage problem for target objects with convex polygon shape. The simulation results show that our approach can reduce the number of sensors while preserving the maximum coverage range of object. © 2010 ACM.

Under the fast-developing carbon trading market, the construction industry needs to mitigate carbon emissions from construction processes. Among various construction processes, tunnel construction produces a significant amount of carbon emissions, since it utilizes various types of high energy-consuming equipment. In order to identify and mitigate such carbon emissions of a tunneling project, it is required to reliably estimate carbon footprints of a tunneling project in the pre-planning phase. This paper presents the methodology for estimating the carbon footprints generated during tunnel construction processes using the collaborative tunneling simulation. A case study using this methodology shows that carbon footprints from a utility tunnel construction are significant compared with those from a building construction. In addition, the assessment of carbon footprints of the case study identifies the opportunities to mitigate such impact by supporting decision-making on equipment and operation plans in the planning phase and providing a control target level of carbon footprints in the execution phase. Electric power utilities develop asset management (AM) strategies, based upon their reliability studies, which provide brighter images of the utility company's performance. Failure rate models are highly instrumental in transforming from simple reliability analyses into effective AM strategies. This paper proposes an adaptive network-based inference approach, to model momentary failure rate, in terms of the most influential factors. These factors are achieved through the vast field studies and historical outage fault statistics of the Greater Tehran Electricity Distribution Company (GTEDC) network. Performance of the presented failure rate model is tested, and discussions on capabilities of the model are then presented in detail.
