It is important for students getting suitable feedback information when either they are doing or completing a learning activity. This research tries to know what kind of feedback message is really useful to students. For this purpose, this paper develops a workable e-learning environment with feedback mechanism to gather the learning effects of students with different kinds of feedbacks. The experiment involves five fifth-grade classes and divides five classes into three different groups. The students in the control group have no feedback and students in the other two groups have different kinds of feedback messages. The analysis of experiment data contains two parts: the first one evaluates the feedback efficiencies for all groups;and, then all students will be separated into three clusters based on their academic achievement in order to do further analysis.

Advances in wireless communications and networking technologies as well as computer and medical technologies, enable the development of small size, power efficient and more reliable medical multi-parameter recording systems, which can be used for continuous monitoring of patients. Through this paper we present the basic architecture and initial development steps of an m-Health monitoring system that will be used in order to monitor children with suspected cardiac arrhythmias. The proposed system will be based on sensor networks, in order to monitor a subject while being in a predefined area like his/her house; while a module based on PDAs and wearable ECG recorders will be used in order to extent the coverage outside the patient's house. The system will be based on a variable sampling rate to conserve power for the possible arrhythmia episode. The system design has been completed, the hardware specifications have been decided and currently the system is going through the development phase.

Many models have been proposed to analyze the performance of the IEEE 802.11 distributed coordination function (DCF) and the IEEE 802.11e enhanced distributed coordination function (EDCA) under saturation condition. To analyze DCF under statistical traffic, Foh and Zukerman introduce a model that uses Markovian Framework to compute the throughput and delay performance. In this paper, we analyze the protocol service time of EDCA mechanism and introduce a model to analyze EDCA under statistical traffic using Markovian Framework. Using this model, we analyze the throughput and delay performance of EDCA mechanism under statistical traffic. © 2006 IEEE.

It has become a trend to integrate automatic industries via Internet and wireless applications over network. Along with the advancement of technology development, research on wireless applications and remote control has become significant and popular today. Thus, we have designed and implemented a teaching platform with wireless applications and remote control using GSM system in the Mobile-PLC (M-PLC) control lab. The integration of the mobile control and measurement using the GSM Short Message Service (SMS) provides a teaching platform where students can learn anytime and anywhere. We can monitor machine operations using GSM system. The usability and economy of teaching media is apt, since cell phones are cheap, easy to operate and portable. © 2006 IEEE.

Sharing Intellectual Property (IP) blocks in today's competitive market poses significant high security risks. In this paper, we present a tutorial for a watermarking approach based on the embedding of the ownership proof as part of the IP design's finite state machine (FSM). It utilizes coinciding as well as unused transitions in the state transition graph of the design. Based on this approach, we have developed a robust watermarking framework, used for copyright protection. The developed technique increases the robustness of the watermark and allows a secure implementation, hence enabling the development of the first public-key IP watermarking scheme at the FSM level. In order to integrate these algorithms in the design cycle of industrial projects, we extend the above techniques to enable the watermarking of hierarchical finite state machines (HFSMs).

In reconfigurable systems, reconfiguration latency is a very important factor impact the system performance. In this paper, a framework is proposed that integrates the temporal partitioning and physical design phases to perform a static compilation process for reconfigurable computing systems. A temporal partitioning algorithm is proposed which attempts to decrease the time of reconfiguration on a partially reconfigurable hardware, This algorithm attempts to find similar single or pair of operations between subsequent partitions. Considering similar pairs instead of single nodes brings about less complexity for routing process. By using this technique, smaller reconfiguration bit-stream is obtained, which directly decreases the reconfiguration overhead time at the run-time. A complementary algorithm attempts to increase the similarity of subsequent partitions by searching for similar pairs and using a technique called dummy node insertion, An incremental physical design process based on similar configurations produced in the partitioning stage improves the metrics over iterations. © 2006 IEEE.

computer Supported Collaborative Learning activities involve combination of complex software tools that often need to interoperate in a wider context of learning. In this paper a new method for determining the search area for motion estimation algorithm based on block matching is suggested. In the proposed method the search area is adaptively found for each block of a frame. The designated search area is similar to that of the full search algorithm but smaller for most blocks of a frame. Therefore, the proposed algorithm is like FS in terms of regularity but requires less computational complexity. To find the search area the temporal and spatial correlation among the motion vectors of blocks are exploited. Based on this, the matched block is chosen from a rectangular area that the prediction vectors set out. Simulation results indicate speedup ratio of proposed algorithm more than 85.8% as compared to FS algorithm. © 2005 IEEE.
