Utilizing a stack cache in a real-time system can aid predictability by avoiding interference that heap memory traffic causes on the data cache. While loads and stores are guaranteed cache hits, explicit operations are responsible for managing the stack cache. The behavior of these operations can be analyzed statically. We present algorithms that derive worst-case bounds on the latency-inducing operations of the stack cache. Their results can be used by a static WCET tool. By breaking the analysis down into subproblems that solve intra-procedural data-flow analysis and path searches on the call-graph, the worst-case bounds can be efficiently yet precisely determined. Our evaluation using the MiBench benchmark suite shows that only 37% and 21% of potential stack cache operations actually store to and load from memory, respectively. Analysis times are modest, on average running between 0.46s and 1.30s per benchmark, dep.nding on the size of the stack cache. © 2013 ACM.

In this paper, we propose a kernel estimation algorithm using fast best kernel retrieval (FBKR) from spectral irregularities to achieve the deblurring. In daily life, when people take a photograph by any kinds of camera equipment, image motion blur caused by camera motion often happens. Camera motion during exposure will produce a blurred image, this kind of blur is often non-liner mode. Motion blur always causes the decline of image quality, as long as the users using the hand-held photography equipment often have a similar experience. Based on this reason, reconstructing a clear image from blurred image is the main objective in this paper. Reconstruction is an ill-pose problem. In current motion blur estimation algorithms, these algorithms usually use the recursive method to estimate motion blur kernel. However, recursive process is quite time-consuming. In order to enhance time-consuming, in this paper, based on iterative phase retrieval algorithm and normalized sparsity measure, we propose a fast and effective blur kernel retrieval algorithm, which can find the best kernel in a short time. Experiments verify that our method can effectively reduce the execution time and obtain the best motion blur kernel to deblur a deblurred image and keep the quality of image deblurring.

The paper analyzes three recently proposed algorithms, which differ not only in the method of finding solution to the Maximum Lifetime Coverage problem in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), but also approaches to a statement of the problem. In order to compare algorithms: (1) they were adapted to the common assumptions that correspond to real characteristics of sensor networks and (2) special sensor network simulator was used to study the algorithms. The paper presents the results of an experimental study and shows how the lifetime of WSN dep.nds on a different set of algorithms parameters and WSNs parameters. Based on the results of the experiments, conclusions about the validity of the assumptions of algorithms, quality of solutions and possible improvements are drawn. © 2013 IEEE.

We consider the problem of secure communications in a Gaussian two-way relay network where two nodes exchange confidential messages only via an untrusted relay. The relay is assumed to be honest but curious, i.e., an eavesdropper that conforms to the system rules and applies the intended relaying scheme. We analyze the achievable secrecy rates by applying network coding on the physical layer or the network layer and compare the results in terms of complexity, overhead, and efficiency. Further, we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the respective approaches.

IKEv2 offers authentication, authorization and key agreement services to establish a security association between two peers bound to IP addresses, but it is still vulnerable to some security problems such as denial of service (Dos) and man-in-the-middle attack. Host Identity Protocol (HIP) is also a security protocol that defines host identifiers for naming the endpoints and performs authentication and creation of IPsec security associations between them bound to identifiers. The purpose of HIP is to support trust systems, enhance mobility and greatly reduce the Denial of Service (Dos) attacks. We focus on an extension to IKEv2 in order to enhance authentication, eliminate man-in-the-middle attack and guarantee denial of service to provide better security between the two peers. In this paper, we describe our proposal that consists of combining the IKEv2 with the HIP to set up a security association based on two parameters which are location and Identity. This combination can provide better security properties than each protocol used alone. This scheme, named (HIP-IKEv2) couples location and identity to define a security association between two peers. We have used the Automated Validation of Internet Security Protocols and Applications (AVISPA) and its Security Protocol Animator (SPAN), and two powerful automated tools in order to formally specify and validate the HIP-IKEv2 protocol.

Biometric signatures for identity recognition have been practiced for centuries. Basically, the personal attributes used for a biometric identification system can be classified into two areas: one is based on physiological attributes, such as DNA, facial features, retinal vasculature, fingerprint, hand geometry, iris texture and so on;the other scenario is dep.ndent on the individual behavioral attributes, such as signature, keystroke, voice and gait style. Among these features, iris recognition is one of the most attractive approaches due to its nature of randomness, texture stability over a life time, high entropy density and non-invasive acquisition. While the performance of iris recognition on high quality image is well investigated, not too many studies addressed that how iris recognition performs subject to non-ideal image data, especially when the data is acquired in challenging conditions, such as long working distance, dynamical movement of subjects, uncontrolled illumination conditions and so on. There are three main contributions in this paper. Firstly, the optical system parameters, such as magnification and field of view, was optimally designed through the first-order optics. Secondly, the irradiance constraints was derived by optical conservation theorem. Through the relationship between the subject and the detector, we could estimate the limitation of working distance when the camera lens and CCD sensor were known. The working distance is set to 3m in our system with pupil diameter 86mm and CCD irradiance 0.3mW/cm2. Finally, We employed a hybrid scheme combining eye tracking with pan and tilt system, wavefront coding technology, filter optimization and post signal recognition to implement a robust iris recognition system in dynamic operation. The blurred image was restored to ensure recognition accuracy over 3m working distance with 400mm focal length and aperture F/6.3 optics. Crowded environments pose a challenge to the comfort and safety of those with impaired ability. To address this challenge we have developed an efficient algorithm that may be embedded in a portable device. The algorithm anticipates undesirable circumstances in real time, by verifying simulation traces of local crowd dynamics against temporal logical formulae. The model incorporates the objectives of the user, pre-existing knowledge of the environment and real time sensor data. The algorithm is thus able to suggest a course of action to achieve the user's changing goals, while minimising the probability of problems for the user and others in the environment. To demonstrate our algorithm we have implemented it in an autonomous computing device that we show is able to negotiate complex virtual environments. The performance of our implementation demonstrates that our technology can be successfully applied in a portable device or robot.

Very often the decline of the cognitive abilities related to age determines a gradual withdrawal of older adults within the domestic walls. Part of the problem is the difficulty in navigating in large and crowded environments that are perceived as intimidating by users with declining cognitive and sensitive ability. To alleviate this problem, we propose a walking assistant endowed with autonomous sensing and active brakes able to guide the user. In this paper, we address the problem of how to guide the user with a minimal impact on her/his freedom of motion. We propose a solution based on the use of an active braking system which can be easily accommodated on commercial walkers. The paper proposes a control strategy that strikes an interesting solution to guide the user through the optimal path without restricting her/his freedom of motion.

Classical search engines rely mainly on keyword matches. More advanced search engines and information retrieval systems use personalization techniques to enhance the relevancy of the results. Those approaches assume that the current search of a user is directly related to his/her profiles and/or past navigation/search experience. However, this assumption does not hold in all cases. In this paper, we are proposing an information retrieval approach that is not making any assumption about the user. It offers a straightforward way to choose and navigate the available interpretations. Our approach relies on a navigation model that is based on a new paradigm called multi-space interpretation index and projection operations. We have derived a mathematical model of a Web information retrieval system based on the new paradigm. This concept naturally distinguishes between the different interpretation layers (each layer is a separate space). Therefore, it offers to users the flexibility to navigate the interpretation spaces in such a way that suites better their information needs.

A novel digital musical interface based on sound source localization using a microphone array is presented. It allows a performer to plan and conduct the expressivity of a performance by controlling an audio processing module in real-time through the spatial movement of a sound source (i.e., voice, traditional musical instruments, and sounding mobile devices). The prototype interface consists of an adaptive parameterized Steered Response Power Phase Transform (SRP-PHAT) with a Zero-Crossing Rate (ZCR) threshold and a Kalman filter that provides a more accurate estimate and tracking of the source position if there is movement. A real-time software based on external Max object was developed to test the system in a real-world moderately reverberant and noisy environment, focusing on the performance of pseudo-periodic sounds in a multisource scenario.
