The aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of different burnishing strategy on a C45 steel machining. Burnishing is a well-known, cold working surface improving technology, it is usually applied for cylindrical workpiece. In the reported research a novel developed magnetic assisted ball burnishing (MABB) tool was applied which was designed for MABB machining of flat and harmonic surfaces. To increase its efficiency, different types of machining strategies were applied. After the burnishing process the machined surfaces were measured by surface roughness tester to determine the most important Rsk and Rku tribological parameters. According to the results it can be stated that all different burnishing strategies have special application areas where they can be used efficiently (e.g. sliding surface, moulding tool and after- or pre-machining for ultra-precision machining).

In Web applications, atomicity violations caused by AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) generate non-determinism and inconsistency. This paper introduces a dynamical detecting approach for atomicity violations in AJAX. Implemented based on Jalangi, an existing instrumentation framework, our technique monitors the execution of a Web application and tracks the Function Callback Flow to find atomic regions by taint analysis. Next, we build a dynamic event model, so as to precisely record the related DOM elements in call and callback steps with low overhead. Then we develop an event-based algorithm to acquire the results, which are classified into different severity levels (benign or harmful). Finally, we conduct an empirical experiment on a subset of Alexa top-ranked websites. Our tool detects 175 DOM related atomicity violations in which 48.6% of violations are identified as harmful after manual inspection.

Data transfer rates for aggregated video data stream and within data centers nowadays require an electrical bandwidth up to 100 GHz. This poses big challenges for the design of proper test and measurement solutions, notably related to the acquisition of signals with such a wide bandwidth. To grant sufficient bandwidth and related sample rate, modern oscilloscopes have been using techniques based on frequency-interleaving and time-interleaving, respectively. Earlier this year, an alternative technique has been presented in a white paper [1],[2] based on which an oscilloscope that can offer an electrical bandwidth that is two times that of the adopted ADC has been launched. This result is obtained by combining the operations of a couple of time interleaved channels, each one made up of a mixer followed by an ADC. The paper presents a synchronous time interleaving technique, which can be regarded as an extension of the aforementioned technique. In fact, the proposed technique can be implemented through an architecture that includes four channels, each one including a mixer and an ADC, the latter having an input bandwidth equal to just one fourth the electrical bandwidth achieved by the system.

Recent trends in mobile cellular networks turn towards dep.oyment of Small Cell Networks (SCNs), where the cell size gets smaller and thus the number of subscribers served in a cell will be relatively smaller and should be considered finite. However, almost works on cellular mobile networks consider an infinite population cell, resulting commonly in infinite queueing models, for which no analytical solution is available for performance measures and only numerical approximations can be obtained. In this paper, a Call Admission Control (CAC) in a finite population micro-cell operating in a SCN, with retrials of blocked new calls, impatience of subscribers and multiple guard channels dedicated to handoff calls, is proposed. For the numerical computation of the steady-state probabilities of the corresponding continuous time Markov chain (CTMC), an efficient algorithm giving automatically the infinitesimal generator is developed, and various performance measures are established in network parameters and stationary probabilities. The guard channels number and retrials effect on the network performance in terms of blocking probability (for new calls and retrials) and dropping probability (of handoffs) is also carried out via experimental results.

This work develops a CMOS active delay line for microwave CW signals. The novel active delay line is mainly based on an injection-locking (IL) technique. The delay of the input signal is linear adjusted with various injection conditions. Comparing with conventional passive or active delay lines, the proposed active delay line has a wider delay tuning range and a higher gain. The implemented CMOS delay line achieves a wide operating range of 2 ~ 2.6 GHz with very wide delay tuning range from 45~220 ns. The power consumption is lower than 7.2 mW.

With continuous dep.oyment of software functionality, a constant flow of new features to products is enabled. Although new functionality has potential to deliver improvements and possibilities that were previously not available, it does not necessary generate business value. On the contrary, with fast and increasing system complexity that is associated with high operational costs, more waste than value risks to be created. Validating how much value a feature actually delivers, project how this value will change over time, and know when to remove the feature from the product are the challenges large software companies increasingly experience today. We propose and study the concept of a software feature lifecycle from a value point of view, i.e. how companies track feature value throughout the feature lifecycle. The contribution of this paper is a model that illustrates how to determine (1) when to add the feature to a product, (2) how to track and (3) project the value of the feature during the lifecycle, and how to (4) identify when a feature is obsolete and should be removed from the product.
