BACR is a new hierarchical routing protocol based on LEACH designed for WSN. It introduced energy-involved voting and back-off announcement to control the number of cluster-heads to vary within a small range and evenly locate the cluster-heads thus to prolong the network lifetime. This work also employed the technology of cluster reappointment to minimize the energy consumed in cluster set-up phase so as to extend the lifetime further. Experiments on MATLAB have proved this more effective than LEACH.

Large open and closed source organizations like Google, Facebook and Mozilla are migrating their products towards rapid releases. While this allows faster time-to-market and user feedback, it also implies less time for testing and bug fixing. Since initial research results indeed show that rapid releases fix proportionally less reported bugs than traditional releases, this paper investigates the changes in software testing effort after moving to rapid releases. We analyze the results of 312,502 execution runs of the 1,547 mostly manual system level test cases of Mozilla Fire fox from 2006 to 2012 (5 major traditional and 9 major rapid releases), and triangulated our findings with a Mozilla QA engineer. In rapid releases, testing has a narrower scope that enables deeper investigation of the features and regressions with the highest risk, while traditional releases run the whole test suite. Furthermore, rapid releases make it more difficult to build a large testing community, forcing Mozilla to increase contractor resources in order to sustain testing for rapid releases.

The multilevel inverters (MLIs) are classified into three topologies such as Diode Clamped, Flying Capacitor and Cascade Multilevel Inverter (CMLI). CMLI topologies include two kind of structure that is named symmetric and asymmetric topologies. Asymmetric Cascade MLI (ACMLI) topologies consist of unequal DC sources. Many modulation techniques have been used in ACMLI topology such as Multi-Carrier PWM (MC-PWM), Space Vector PWM and Selective Harmonic PWM. The MC-PWM technique is achieved by four different types. In this study, MC-PWM techniques which are named Phase Disposition PWM, Phase Opposition Disposition PWM, Alternate Phase Opposition Disposition PWM and Phase Shifted PWM have been compared. It is uncovered that Phase Opposition Disposition PWM technique is more convenient in terms of Total Harmonic Distortion of output voltage and current signals and in terms of the quality of power factor in ACMLI which is performed in this study.

The approach for calculating the failure rate of a safety integrated circuit is used if the number of available test patterns is not sufficient. The safety integrated circuit can be structured in function blocks, that can be functionally compared to semiconductors with discrete structure. Failure models already known and applied for discrete semiconductors can be used to determine the failure rate of the individual function blocks. These models with their known failure rates serve as a reference for the safety integrated circuit function blocks. An advantage of this approach is that the internal safety integrated circuit structure can be taken into consideration when calculating the failure probability. The paper is based on the principles of the generic standard IEC 61508 Edition 2, 2010-04. Because new technologies lack field experience and a basis for evaluating certain risks, a conservative approach to determining failure rates has been emphasized as set forth in SN 29500.
