Inductive wireless power transfer is a more mature technology than capacitive wireless transfer. The aim of this work is to illustrate the duality principle as tool to transfer results from the inductive into the capacitive wireless power research. The efficiency maximization by varying the loads for a Single-Input Multiple-Output system is considered to exemplify this principle, and to highlight some limitations. © 2021 URSI.

In the rapidly expanding landscape of Internet of Things (IoT), sensors have emerged as pivotal components, playing a critical role in sensing and data collection. However, this crucial function also renders them susceptible to potential threats such as unauthorized access and security breaches. This paper investigates the vulnerabilities that lead to these threats and offers a comprehensive set of best practices aimed at fortifying the security of IoT devices. We highlight key measures such as secure device design, robust authentication mechanisms, encrypted communication protocols, regular updates, and emphasize the importance of collaborative efforts among stakeholders using an ontological approach. An Ontology provides a structured framework for organizing knowledge, facilitating clearer communication, efficient data management, and enhanced decision-making. Thus, this paper contributes to the development of a more secure and resilient IoT ecosystem.

In response to the growing need for compliance with diverse safety and security regulations, crucial for safeguarding both humans and machines in the era of Industry 4.0 (I4.0), it has also become increasingly crucial for industries to ensure adherence to safety and security standards. However, navigating the complexities of regulations and standards can be daunting, often leading to inefficiencies in compliance processes. Our goal is to foster a comprehensive understanding of an effective approach to meeting compliance requirements in these related fields. Therefore, this paper introduces a semi-automated method for ensuring compliance with unified safety and security standards within the context of I4.0. This approach empowers management teams to thoroughly analyze the specific requirements necessary to maintain a protected environment. Compliance can be achieved at both the asset component and system levels, aligning with the relevant standards. Additionally, we present a detailed analysis of a use case and its output, demonstrating the practical application and efficacy of our approach.

Nowadays, the Internet of Things (IoT) system is vulnerable to spoofing attacks that can easily where attackers can easily pose as a legal entity of the network. A “spoofing attack” refers to a type of cyber-attack when an attacker purposefully impersonates or masquerades as someone or something else to deceive the target or obtain unauthorized access to systems, information, or resources. In such attacks, the attacker alters their name, IP address, or other attributes to fool the victim into thinking they are engaging with a legitimate entity. Spoofing attacks can take place via a variety of channels, including, ARP and DNS spoofing. Therefore. Spoofing attacks can have serious consequences. We proposed a new approach based on three machine learning models LightGBM, Gradient Boost, and XGBoost to classify attacks on spoofing, we used Chi-square to select the best features to get the highest performance, and we demonstrated that the results using Chi-square achieved higher results than without Chi-square and improved the result with a rate three percent of accuracy. In terms of results, LightGBM outperformed other models by achieving 89%, 91 %, 87 %, and 89 % for accuracy, precision, recall, and f1-score, respectively. This shows the potential and efficiency of Chi-square to achieve the best performance by selecting the best features, thus providing a secure system and identifying cyber-attacks on systems.

In the contemporary landscape of convergence between information technology (IT) and Operational technology (OT), maintaining asset visibility within the Industrial Control Systems (ICS) infrastructure is paramount. Yet, the escalating targeting of legacy systems and air-gapped networks by cyber threats underscores the need for robust security measures and solutions to counter unauthorized access and malicious activities. This paper presents an analysis aimed at identifying gaps and opportunities in integrating IT Security Solutions with OT environments. These solutions offer comprehensive features such as real-time threat detection, asset identification, network monitoring, and incident response capabilities tailored specifically for the unique challenges posed by industrial control networks. Leveraging the Festo MPS 403–1 system as a case study, we delve into the intricacies of IT/ OT integration and highlight areas necessitating improvement to achieve seamless convergence and harness the advantages of unified systems across industries.

Home appliances are designed and manufactured for the market. Most users find that APPs are installed on smartphones or tablets to control home appliances with individual APP. Even light-bulbs with different brands or models need exclusive control software to corresponding light-bulbs. Thus, the smart and intelligent technology for smart-home is difficult to use due to different brands home-appliances from different manufactures. It lacks a standard to coordinate the control way like traditional light-bulbs-based E27 specs. For the light-bulbs of home appliances as an example, the traditional light-bulbs-based E27 lamp-holder have different fixtures and power-supply. Thus, new light-bulbs of home appliances for smart-home need a complex control-way besides electronic power to achieve smart functions and remote-control based on APPs on users' smart-phone. In this research, we try to integrate the internet of thing and message queue telemetry transport (MQTT) to design a mechanism and to implement a prototype web system to achieve an instant and visualized digital light switch of smart-home to solve the problems. For the validation of this research, we used a NodeMCU-32 microcontroller unit as a micro-controller to integrate with WS2812B LED strips to design light tube and light-bulb as the proof of concept (PoC) to demonstrate it in smart-home. © 2021 IEEE.

This study presents an AI-driven strategy for enhancing decision-making in healthcare applications by assessing and managing potential risks through the analysis of customer interactions on social media platforms, specifically Twitter. We propose the use of machine learning models to outperform traditional lexical approaches, addressing the complexities inherent in risk detection. Natural language processing methods are employed to efficiently process and analyze textual data, enabling healthcare institutions to make informed decisions about risk management. By leveraging customer feedback from the X platform, our approach aids in the development of effective healthcare programs by identifying and classifying risks. We create three specialized datasets for risk analysis, risk assessment, and hazard classification to optimize the training and dep.oyment phases. In our case study, which focuses on tweets related to healthcare for US consumers, we find that over 50% of the sample identifies potential risks, with nearly 80% indicating medium levels of risk. Commonly identified risks include financial, operational, and strategic threats. The proposed methodology demonstrates an average accuracy of 82.66% in risk detection, identification, and assessment, confirming its effectiveness in supporting AI-driven decision-making in healthcare application development.

In recent years, deceptive content such as fake news and fake reviews, also known as opinion spams, have increasingly become a dangerous prospect for online users. Fake reviews have affected consumers and stores alike. Furthermore, the problem of fake news has gained attention in 2016, especially in the aftermath of the last U.S. presidential elections. Fake reviews and fake news are a closely related phenomenon as both consist of writing and spreading false information or beliefs. The opinion spam problem was formulated for the first time a few years ago, but it has quickly become a growing research area due to the abundance of user‐generated content. It is now easy for anyone to either write fake reviews or write fake news on the web. The biggest challenge is the lack of an efficient way to tell the difference between a real review and a fake one; even humans are often unable to tell the difference. In this paper, we introduce a new n‐gram model to detect automatically fake contents with a particular focus on fake reviews and fake news.

New wireless devices allow EEG acquisition during walking and support the investigation on the relationship between cognition and movement. In particular, P300 is a positive deflection in the EEG signal occurring approximately 300 ms after a stimulus recognition. P300 is demonstrated to be useful in the detection of cognitive state and in the diagnosis of several neurodegenerative disorders. P300 is a very low amplitude signal and it is detectable by averaging over several EEG trials (assuming zero mean noise). Wireless data transmission may suffer latencies due to the wireless protocol, introducing synchronisation uncertainty between stimulus occurrence and marker apposition on EEG signal. This uncertainty propagates through the averaging operation in P300 computation. Consequently, the amplitude measurement of the P300 is affected. The aim of this study is to implement an uncertainty propagation analysis by means of Monte Carlo simulation in order to test wireless EEG metrological performances in P300 measurement. 56 ms of uncertainly synchronization (98 % confidence interval) resulted in negligible uncertainly on P300 amplitude measurement for clinical applications.

The combination of Composite Base Stations (CBSs) and Dynamic Spectrum Scheduling (DSS) can enable high-speed connectivity in urban environments, providing seamless connectivity to users and supporting a wide range of high-bandwidth applications. This paper investigates the performance of CBSs combining Fifth Generation (5G) cellular network and Fourth Generation (4G) Long-Term Evolution (LTE) modes in an urban environment such as a university campus. The comparison considers sub-6GHz and mmWave frequencies (28GHz) and a DSS to improve network performance and increase overall system capacity. The results show that the CBS approach improves network performance, increasing system capacity and provides high-speed connectivity to users. Additionally, this research highlights the potential of mmWave frequencies for use in heterogeneous networks to improve coverage over a large area. The findings of this study offer valuable insights for network planners and operators, demonstrating the benefits and challenges of CBS dep.oyment
