In recent years some papers have addressed the problem of the validity in Intuitionistic Propositional Logic and in some intermediate propositional logics using the approach proposed by Claessen and Rosén of reduction to Satisfiability Modulo Theories (SMT). This approach dep.nds on an initial pre-processing phase that reduces the input formula in the intuitionistic language to an equivalent sequent in the language of clauses. In this work we present an extension of the clauses used by Claessen and Rosén that allows us to define a natural relationship between the semantics of the extended clauses and Kripke semantics. As an application, we show how Answer Set Programming can be used to check the intuitionistic validity of a formula and to generate Kripke countermodels for countersatisfiable formulas. © 2023 Copyright for this paper by its authors. In recent years, a set of Process Mining (PM) techniques and approaches has been developed to extract knowledge's from business processes (BP) execution data. Although, these conventional PM techniques are pretty efficient to extract handcrafted features from the event log data, they still lack of the automatic features extraction that Capsule-Neural-Nets (Capsnet) models processes from the graph. These caps-net models express the node features of the constructed graph in form of capsules, and, the relevant insights at the graph level are captured by dep.oying the routing *** paper, proposes a novel Squash Behavior Graph Routing (SGBR) mechanism that constitute the backbone foundation of an Hierarchical Caps-Graph Neural-Net (H-Caps-GNN) architecture. The routing based features propagation mechanism in H-Caps-GNN structure is able to learn unified events feature's of BP and their relationships. Those discovered properties represents the valuable insights for automatically learning the semantic of BP features which can be used in various BP applications' (Process discovery, conformance checking, event prediction,...etc) © 2023 IEEE.

Humans excel at lifelong learning, as the brain has evolved to be robust to distribution shifts and noise in our ever-changing environment. Deep neural networks (DNNs), however, exhibit catastrophic forgetting and the learned representations drift drastically as they encounter a new task. This alludes to a different error-based learning mechanism in the brain. Unlike DNNs, where learning scales linearly with the magnitude of the error, the sensitivity to errors in the brain decreases as a function of their magnitude. To this end, we propose ESMER which employs a principled mechanism to modulate error sensitivity in a dual-memory rehearsal-based system. Concretely, it maintains a memory of past errors and uses it to modify the learning dynamics so that the model learns more from small consistent errors compared to large sudden errors. We also propose Error-Sensitive Reservoir Sampling to maintain episodic memory, which leverages the error history to pre-select low-loss samples as candidates for the buffer, which are better suited for retaining information. Empirical results show that ESMER effectively reduces forgetting and abrupt drift in representations at the task boundary by gradually adapting to the new task while consolidating knowledge. Remarkably, it also enables the model to learn under high levels of label noise, which is ubiquitous in real-world data streams. Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) is widely-used for the monitoring of agriculture crops. Its interpretation is based on thresholds and the colormaps used for the visualization of NDVI maps are discrete. We propose a fuzzy logic approach for both the visualization and the interpretation of the NDVI maps. The rationale is that the NDVI values of agricultural crops exhibit a certain spread, while the interpretation based on thresholds is prone to a certain degree of incertitude. We define several membership functions for modeling three sub intervals of the NDVI values in the [0, 1] range, useful for the interpretation of the vegetation status for agricultural crops. The three sub intervals are corresponding to three categories of vegetation status: dried-out vegetation, moderately healthy and strongly developed. For a Sentinel-2 time series, we compare the visualization using the crisp logic, the Sentinel-2 color palette, and the color palettes resulting from the proposed membership functions implementing the fuzzy logic. We show that our colormap has a smoother color gradient, which can facilitate a more visually-appealing and interpretable transition of colors. We also show an example of inference for the interpretation of the NDVI values for an operational usage of the proposed fuzzy logic approach. © 2024 IEEE.

This study examines decision-making in software re-engineering within businesses, focusing on the challenges and considerations involved. Financial constraints, time, and staff efforts are critical factors in these decisions. The study identifies difficulties faced by top-level management with legacy systems, existing systems, underused systems, and packaged software due to user resistance and customer dissatisfaction. The primary goal of the study is to assess the importance of software quality factors, especially from the users' perspective, in making re-engineering decisions. It uses the ISO 9126 Model to analyze quality elements in the case study software, aiming to provide guidance for deciding whether to proceed with re-engineering. The study explores functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability as factors influencing re-engineering decisions, based on the ISO 9126 model. To understand user interactions and program performance, the study used unstructured participant observation in the case study software, highlighting the challenges faced by top management due to user resistance. These findings were further confirmed through face-to-face interviews with software users and dep.rtment employees, offering insights into their perspectives on software quality elements. The results reveal that, despite some flaws, the system has valuable features and capabilities. Most employees express a desire to undergo re-engineering to enhance service quality, align with ISO 9126 standards, and leverage the expertise of competent staff for re-engineering activities. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, deceptive content such as fake news and fake reviews, also known as opinion spams, have increasingly become a dangerous prospect for online users. Fake reviews have affected consumers and stores alike. Furthermore, the problem of fake news has gained attention in 2016, especially in the aftermath of the last U.S. presidential elections. Fake reviews and fake news are a closely related phenomenon as both consist of writing and spreading false information or beliefs. The opinion spam problem was formulated for the first time a few years ago, but it has quickly become a growing research area due to the abundance of user-generated content. It is now easy for anyone to either write fake reviews or write fake news on the web. The biggest challenge is the lack of an efficient way to tell the difference between a real review and a fake one;even humans are often unable to tell the difference. In this paper, we introduce a new n-gram model to detect automatically fake contents with a particular focus on fake reviews and fake news. © 2024 IEEE.

A major weakness of Mobile CrowdSensing Platforms (MCS) is the willingness of users to participate, as this implies disclosing their private data (for example, concerning mobility) to the MCS platform. In the effort to enforce data privacy in the creation of mobility coverage maps using an MCS platform, recent work proposes the use of a spatially distributed approach that, however, is vulnerable to data injection attacks. In this contribution, we define and implement a progressive attacker model following a statistical approach. We propose a novel mitigation strategy based on unsupervised anomaly detection. Accessing the coverage performance with real-world mobility data indicates that the mean value of the attacker's profile determines the probability of being revealed. In particular, we are able to identify the attacker and filter out the data injected by the attackers with high precision. © 2024 IEEE.

The use of RNA molecules for developing new drugs and new vaccines is attracting more and more scientific centers all over the world that produce biological banks with different kinds of relationships existing among the different coding and non-coding molecules. Collecting and identifying relationships among the data included in these collections is of paramount importance for knowledge discovery and analysis. In this paper, we describe the initial steps in the construction of RNA-KG, an RNA-centered Knowledge Graph that will contain the different types of entities that can be extracted from different public databases and the relationships that can be inferred. A meta-graph reporting the main kinds of relationships that can be included by the integration of the identified data sources is finally presented. These activities are conducted in the context of the "National Center for Gene Therapy and Drugs based on RNA technology" funded by the Italian PNRR and the NextGenerationEU program. © 2023 CEUR-WS. Air pollution is one of the most common problems that the world is facing today. In fact, there are numerous causes of air pollution, including the large number of industries and automobiles that emit carbon dioxide (CO2) and carbon monoxide. Pollution is increasing on a daily basis, making air quality monitoring and management a major challenge for governments in both developed and developing countries. Air pollution affects human health as well as the atmosphere, causing climate change. One of the techniques used for monitoring air pollution is the Internet of Things (IoT). In this paper, we demonstrate various techniques for monitoring air quality using IoT and make a comparison based on various factors elicited from the previous work. © 2023 IEEE.
