In this paper we study a particle under the influence of a Lennard-Jones potential moving in a simple quantum wire modelled by the positive half-line. Despite its physical significance, this potential is only rarely studied in the literature and due to its singularity at the origin it cannot be considered as a standard perturbation of the one-dimensional Laplacian. It is therefore our aim to provide a thorough description of the full Hamiltonian in one dimension via the construction of a suitable quadratic form. Our results include a discussion of spectral and scattering properties which finally allows us to generalise some results from [Rob74] as well as [RS78].MSC Codes 81Q10, 81Q37, 81Q80, 81Q35, 47E05, 47D08 Copyright © 2018, The Authors. Volume computations are important for the characterization of three-dimensional (3D) objects. In the case of irregularly-shaped objects, volumetric analysis remains challenging due to the missing symmetry in the geometry. 3D scanners provide a solution for digitizing the shape of objects for 3D visualization; however, typical scanners do not provide detailed quantitative information which offers significant advantage in both research and development applications. In this work, tools and operations that utilize digital 3D data captured via a 3D structured-light scanner are investigated to develop algorithms that accurately model and compute the volume of non-uniform objects. Specifically, limpet seashells are utilized to develop the models for volumetric analysis and characterization using MATLAB programming toolboxes after the 3D scans are completed.

Torque ripple reduction of Brushless DC Motors (BLDCs) with concentrated winding is an attractive subject in variable speed AC drives. In ideal BLDC with trapezoidal back-EMF torque ripple elimination can be achieved using rectangular stator current, while in motors with non-ideal back-EMF, feeding the rectangular current leads to more torque ripple. In this paper at first, a mathematical expression for torque ripple harmonics is done. Then for a non-ideal BLDC motor with known harmonic contents of back-EMF, calculation of desired reference current amplitudes, which are required to eliminate some selected harmonics of torque ripple, is reviewed. In order to inject the reference currents to the motor windings, an adaptive input-output feedback linearization control is proposed, which generates the reference voltages for three phases Voltage Source Inverter (VSI). Also, this method is robust against the motor parameter variations like as stator's resistance and leakage inductance. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated with simulation in the two harmonic selection methods. © 2017 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a secure mutual trust scheme based on the concept of chameleon hash function, for wireless sensor networks (WSNs). In the proposed scheme, the base station (BS), holding two common secrets, issues an identity to every dep.oyed sensor node. An identity contains a public data and a private key. The public data is used to present a node, and the private key is used to make mutual trust keys with other node's public data. A public data can be used in verifying the legitimacy of the node. The mutual trust key is the evidence that a node owns the related public data. At any time, or after finding malicious nodes or dep.oying new nodes, BS will broadcast new group key to all sensor nodes by multiple hopping. Following the group key broadcasting and rebroadcasting, the still-legal nodes can set new information in their public data, private key, hop counters, public parameters, and neighbor nodes set, which contains the public data and hop counter of its neighboring nodes. Based on the new information, a sensor node can make the mutual trust keys with its neighboring nodes to do message authentication and secure communicating, or to set up a secure path to forward the sensed information to BS by multiple relaying. The security analysis shows that the proposed scheme can revoke the right of malicious sensor nodes, dep.oy new sensor nodes, and work well under malicious attacking. As the result of performance comparison, the proposed secure scheme is superior to the related works.

The upcoming migration of satellite services to higher bands, namely, the Ka- and Q/V-bands, offers many advantages in terms of bandwidth and system capacity. However, it poses challenges as propagation effects introduced by the various atmospheric phenomena are particularly pronounced in these bands and can become a serious constraint in terms of system reliability and performance. This paper presents the goals, organisation, and preliminary results of an ongoing large-scale European coordinated propagation campaign using the Alphasat Aldo Paraboni Ka/Q band signal payload on satellite, performed by a wide scientific consortium in the framework of a European Space Agency (ESA) project. The main objective of this activity is the experimental characterisation of the spatial and temporal correlation over Europe of the radio channel at Ka and Q band for future modelling activities and to collect data for development and testing of fading mitigation techniques. © 2019 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

High-Performance Computing (HPC) has been created to improve the quality of Pengantar Komputasi Parallel lectures. HPC consists of two PCs with AMD Ryzen 7 processor connected by high-speed LAN. HPC is used to solve problems that students can't practice Parallel Computing because the computer used is not adequate. So it takes a machine that can used together that has many processors, so the problems encountered are resolved. The results obtained, participants can use more than four processors to solve tree problems directly.

To assist home care for the elderly, we've finished a smart walker in previous study, with the features including destination track navigation, obstacle detection, self-positioning, follow-up, and wireless inductive charging. In this study, we further finish the user's intention detection function on the smart walker to control the smart walker. We install 3 pressure sensors on both sides of smart walker handles respectively to extract the user's force application, which are taken as input signal. Through AdaBoost classifier, it finishes input signal recognition and controls of the smart walker moving forward/backward directly. The user doesn't need to press the switch or click on the panel, but apply force on the handle directly, which makes the operation easier. The experiment validates that the accuracy can achieve higher than 98%, which can simplify the operation effectively and achieve the practical purpose.

The emergence of artificial neural networks (ANNs) caused a great revolution in the knowledge area of pattern-classification and contributed to the fast development of intelligent systems. For an ANN to be effective, its topology parameters must be set up, such as learning rate, number of layers, and number of neurons. Therefore, optimization algorithms can be used to produce more efficient ANNs. In this paper, we propose a genetic algorithm (GA) to better estimate parameters of an ANN applied to the classification of the type, strength, and orientation of different hand movements from electromyography signals. Acquired data signals were first processed with the Wavelet Transform (WT) to extract the most important features. These features were presented to the optimized hybrid intelligent system (HIS) composed of ANNs and the optimization GA. Classification results are promising, presenting accuracy rates above 90% and reliability rate of 98%. These results support the use of HIS in practical applications such as smart prostheses and automatic medical evaluations.

In our previous work, we presented new reconfigurable underwater sensor network architectures that minimize both the end-to-end delay and the power consumption of the network [1]. The idea was to have dynamic architectures configured on the basis of the network parameters (such as data rate, central processing node capabilities, gathering node capabilities, and water dep.h). These architectures ignore real-time constraints, but they achieve the best performance in terms of the end-to-end delay and the power consumption. In this paper, we extended our research results and designed new underwater embedded system architectures that satisfy real-time constraints.

The demand on distribution network reconfiguration abilities is increasing. This paper proposes a Finite State Automaton model of a distribution network that deals with topologically safe reconfiguration. Autonomous operation of distribution networks can be designed, analysed and implemented in day-to-day operation with the aid of these automata: through supervisory control. Two approaches to supervisor design are proposed. One for the normal operating mode and the other for the contingency mode. Simple and comprehensive examples illustrate the approaches.
