In this work, we propose an energy-efficient HTTP adaptive streaming for high-quality video over heterogeneous networks (HetNets). To support high-quality video and overcome the limitations of a single network, the proposed system downloads the video segments by concurrently using the HetNets. In the proposed system, the segment bitrate, number of requested segments, network sleep time, and size of requested data through each wireless network are determined adaptively to provide seamless high-quality video streaming in an energy and cost efficient way. The proposed system is fully implemented in an Android-based mobile device and tested in an actual wireless network environments.

In this paper we present the Yale-CMU-Berkeley (YCB) Object and Model set, intended to be used for benchmarking in robotic grasping and manipulation research. The objects in the set are designed to cover various aspects of the manipulation problem; it includes objects of daily life with different shapes, sizes, textures, weight and rigidity, as well as some widely used manipulation tests. The associated database provides high-resolution RGBD scans, physical properties and geometric models of the objects for easy incorporation into manipulation and planning software platforms. A comprehensive literature survey on existing benchmarks and object datasets is also presented and their scope and limitations are discussed. The set will be freely distributed to research groups worldwide at a series of tutorials at robotics conferences, and will be otherwise available at a reasonable purchase cost.

GZO thin films were prepared on a glass substrate by dc magnetron sputtering with hydrogen at various dep.sition temperatures (T_d). As a result of the incorporation of hydrogen atoms that acted as shallow donors, the carrier concentration of each film initially increased when T_d increased from 25℃ to 175℃ but then decreased as T_d further increased. Film mobility and carrier concentration exhibited the similar trend with dep.sition temperature. The lowest resistivity, 8.1 × 10~(-4) Ω·cm, was obtained for the film grown at 175℃, which has a carrier concentration of 1.1 × 10~(21) cm~(-3).

Thank to the widespread diffusion of RGBD sensing devices based on active technologies, in recent years, many research and industrial applications have taken advantage of reliable cues computed from dense dep.h data. However, although these sensors can be very effective in many circumstances, they are not always well suited for outdoor environments and can also interfere with each other when sensing the same area. On the other hand, traditional systems based on passive stereo vision technology, due to their computational/energy requirements, reliability, size, cost etc, have been, so far, mostly confined to research projects. Nevertheless, recent advances in computation architectures and algorithms enable to overcome most of these issues and, in this paper, we describe the architecture and the processing pipeline of an effective RGBD sensor based on stereo vision suited for real time applications. This sensor allows us to infer, in indoor and outdoor environments, dense and accurate dep.h maps computed according to state-of-art algorithms and with minimal energy requirements that fit with typical constraints of smart camera systems.

This paper addresses the problem of finite-time convergence in a social network for a political party or an association, modeled as a distributed iterative system with a graph dynamics chosen to mimic how people interact. It is firstly shown that, in this setting, finite-time convergence is achieved only when nodes form a complete network, and that contacting with agents with distinct opinions reduces to a half the required interconnections. Two novel strategies are presented that enable finite-time convergence, even for the case where each node only contacts the two closest neighbors. These strategies are of prime importance, for instance, in a company environment where agents can be motivated to reach faster conclusions. The performance of the proposed policies is assessed through simulation, illustrating, in particular the finite-time convergence property.
