Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) is a standard that uses Ethernet switching and a dual counter-rotating ring topology to provide SONET-like network resiliency and optimised bandwidth usage, while it delivers multipoint Ethernet/IP services. An important optimisation problem arising in this context is the Weighted Ring Arc Loading Problem (WRALP). That is the design of a direct path for each request in a communication network, in such a way that high load on the arcs will be avoided, where an arc is an edge endowed with a direction. The load of an arc is defined as the total weight of those requests routed through the arc in its direction. WRALP ask for a routing scheme such that the maximum load on the arcs will be minimum. In this paper we study the loading problem without demand splitting and for solving it we propose a Hybrid Scatter Search (HSS) algorithm. Coupled with the Scatter Search algorithm we use a Tabu Search algorithm to locate the global minimum. We show that HSS is able to achieve feasible solutions to WRALP instances, improving the results obtained by previous approaches.

The purpose of this research is to help save electricity within organizations and workplaces that use computers. Due to the behavior of general users today, they do not give importance to saving electricity. This work has developed an automatic computer shutdown system. with image processing via a webcam by using image processing techniques (image processing) applied to a webcam by using a webcam to capture the user on the computer screen. Then the images are analyzed and examined with the principles of image processing with the face detection technique using the algorithm of Haar -like features to detect human faces and ROI. define a specific area of interest. The system will then check the amount of inactivity on the screen. or does not show the face image within 10 minutes, the system will automatically turn off the computer. with image processing. This work can make it easier to turn off computers when not in use. and helps to save electricity for the organization or agencies as well. © 2023 IEEE.

Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPMs) are a driving force to furnish traffic signal controllers with high-solution information logging abilities and use this data to produce performance measures. These measures enable traffic engineers to improve activities just as to keep up and work their frameworks in a protected and effective way. Despite the fact that these measures have changed the manner in which that administrators deal with their frameworks, a few weaknesses of the instrument are an absence of information quality control and the degree of assets required to appropriately utilize the apparatus for framework-wide administration. In this paper we will determine the level of In-Service Performance Evaluation (ISPE), which can be performed while using the existing database of roadside features, such as highway and traffic data files with maintenance records, roadside feature inventory data, and crash data with respect to existing roadside hardware categories. © 2019 IEEE.

This study presents an AI-driven strategy for enhancing decision-making in healthcare applications by assessing and managing potential risks through the analysis of customer interactions on social media platforms, specifically Twitter. We propose the use of machine learning models to outperform traditional lexical approaches, addressing the complexities inherent in risk detection. Natural language processing methods are employed to efficiently process and analyze textual data, enabling healthcare institutions to make informed decisions about risk management. By leveraging customer feedback from the X platform, our approach aids in the development of effective healthcare programs by identifying and classifying risks. We create three specialized datasets for risk analysis, risk assessment, and hazard classification to optimize the training and dep.oyment phases. In our case study, which focuses on tweets related to healthcare for US consumers, we find that over 50% of the sample identifies potential risks, with nearly 80% indicating medium levels of risk. Commonly identified risks include financial, operational, and strategic threats. The proposed methodology demonstrates an average accuracy of 82.66% in risk detection, identification, and assessment, confirming its effectiveness in supporting AI-driven decision-making in healthcare application development. ©2024 IEEE.

We study flip graphs of triangulations whose maximum vertex degree is bounded by a constant k. Specifically, we consider triangulations of sets of n points in convex position in the plane and prove that their flip graph is connected if and only if k > 6;the diameter of the flip graph is O (n ²). We also show that for general point sets, flip graphs of triangulations with degree ≤k can be disconnected for any k. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Recently, several domain based computational models for predicting protein-protein interactions (PPIs) have been proposed. However, the majority of these models often have limitations in providing detailed information on which do- main pair (single domain interaction) or DC pair (multi domain interaction) will actually interact for a predicted protein interaction. To solve this, we developed a computational model to predict PPIs using information of intra- protein domain cohesions and inter-protein domain or DC coupling interactions. A method to identify the primary interacting DC pair is also incorporated into the model for inferring actual participants in a predicted interaction. Our method made a significant improvement in PPI prediction accuracy, and the primary interacting DC pair identification turned out valid specifically in predicting multi domain protein interactions. This paper explores the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques in healthcare, specifically focusing on electrocardiogram (ECG) data analysis and biological age estimation. The study begins with an overview of ECG as a diagnostic tool and discusses the integration of Deep Learning (DL) models, particularly Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), in healthcare for various applications. Previous studies reviewed in this context consistently identify CNNs as the superior model for ECG analysis and prediction tasks. The primary research investigates the use of Machine Learning (ML) algorithms to estimate biological age from ECG data, employing metrics such as Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and variance to evaluate model performance. Subsequently, DL models are implemented and compared, demonstrating superior accuracy in estimating the biological age of new patients. While both ML and DL approaches were initially explored, this paper primarily focuses on deep learning methodologies due to their demonstrated superiority in healthcare applications. The findings highlight the efficacy of deep learning over traditional ML methods, underscoring its potential for enhancing diagnostic accuracy and personalized patient care. For instance, the most accurate deep learning model, the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), achieved a Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 1.49 and an R2 score of 0.53, whereas the best-performing traditional ML model, Random Forest, achieved an MAE of 1.54 and an R2 score of 0.55. These results clearly indicate the advantage of deep learning models in capturing complex patterns in ECG data, leading to more precise and reliable estimations of biological age. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper describes the use of ant colony models for photographic rendering, that is, for the dep.ction or interpretation of photographic images. A description of a previously proposed ant-based edge detection method called pherographia is given in order to contextualize this paper's proposal. Then, the application of the KANTS algorithm to photo-rendering is introduced. KANTS is ant-based clustering algorithm described by a set of equations that model the local behavior of simple units (ants). These units represent data samples. When moving on a heterogeneous 2-dimensional lattice of vectors, global behavior emerges from the local interaction between the ants, which self-organize into clusters. In this paper, a data set consists of the RGB values of a digital (or digitalized) photograph. Two different approaches for the initialization of the environment are tested, each one resulting in radically different output images: when the environment is initialized with the RGB values of the same image that is used to generate the data set, the final result is very similar to the original photo;a random initialization of the environment leads to an abstract interpretation of the photo. The results are contextualized within previous swarm artworks by the authors. © 2013 IEEE.
