The field of research known as 'parallel processing' examines architectural and algorithmic methods for increasing the efficiency and other desirable qualities (such as cost-effectiveness and reliability) of computers by exploiting many forms of concurrency. The development of multi-core CPUs has opened the door to novel strategies for boosting system performance via parallelism. Increasing the number of concurrent threads greatly affects the time cost. While increased parallelism might reduce calculation time, the associated synchronization costs would likely be prohibitive for most applications. In this article, we'll go through the first half of the process, which involves gathering requirements and designing a prototype;the second half, which involves monitoring and managing a program that can run on a wide range of multicore system architectures, including those with (2, 4, and 8 CPUs). A shared-memory parallel processing method was proposed and built to show off the system's full potential. The implications of multi-core systems on overall program execution time and parallel processing in shared-memory systems provide the backbone of this investigation. © 2022 IEEE.

This study presents a dipper-throated-based ant colony optimization (DTACO) with the Seasonal Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average with eXogenous factor (SARIMAX) model (DTACO+SARIMAX) to forecast monkeypox cases. The work optimizes the SARIMAX model using grid search cross-validation and fine-tunes its hyperparameters using DTACO to improve prediction accuracy. The suggested model's consistency and accuracy are considerable compared to previous studies. Comparisons with state-of-the-art models validate the proposed model's predictions. DTACO+SARIMAX can be used to control disease and monitor monkeypox. Healthcare organizations and governments can better manage and track the pandemic's course by offering accurate predictions, reducing public panic, and enabling effective pandemic planning. The Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests are conducted on the proposed DTACO-SARIMAX model and compared models.

The purpose of this research was to design, produce and evaluate a stray child warning system. The device has been designed by using 2 ESP8266 boards to receive signals as specified. The system will notify the information via Line Notify to let users know how far the board that acts as a Client is from the board that acts as an Access Point. Expressed in meters (m) in the notification line notify process. The test results of the system in terms of signal transmission between the Access Point and the Client can work well. Buzzer speaker and LED notification light according to the specified distance every time. Notifications to LINE Notify to mobile phones can be done every time.

The Raman gain coefficient, the attenuations at signal and pump wavelengths and the refractive indices of both core and cladding of silica doped Germania optical fiber are functions of the Germania ratio, temperature and wavelengths. The Raman amplifier gain increases with Germania ratio but it decreases with temperature. Also, Raman gain either increases or decreases with signal wavelength. As the fiber core radius increases, the Raman gain decreases. The gain distribution through the amplifier length of dual pumps with power divided ratio (S=0.5) is better than that for the forward pump amplifier and the backward pump amplifier. The forward pump has a maximized gain but the backward pump has a minimized gain, while the dual pumps have both the maximum and minimized gains. The final amplifier gain for the three kinds of pumps with the same pump power (Pp) is equally. The pump wavelength (λp=1.4553μm) gives the biggest Raman gain at the center of wideband signal wavelength (λs=1.50 to 1.60μm). With λp =1.48μm, the gain increases with λs until λs=1.57μm and after that the gain decreases with λs and so with the above three kinds of pumps, gain fluctuations over the band wavelength of signal. Data centers consume a large amount of energy to meet the increasing demand for IT infrastructure and software due to the IT equipment and cooling infrastructure involved. Therefore, it is necessary to have energy consumption control strategies for DC computer equipment that will allow infrastructure upgrades to reduce energy consumption and to meet the requirement of Green IT. In this way, energy consumption is reduced and the use of technological resources can be optimized. In this paper, we propose to evaluate several traditional Machine Learning algorithms as prediction models using three different temporal windows (i.e. minute, hour and day) taking into account several features such as voltage, energy, frequency, current, power, power factor, and temperature. A comparison of the root square mean error (RMSE) during the validation stage is carried out in order to select the most appropriate algorithm for each time window. In addition, running times are calculated to determine the feasibility of the selected algorithms. Moreover, the suitable predictive model can be the key to the ensure a fair distribution of the workload among the different servers in a Datacenter.

The current industry has to adapt to rapidly changing customers' needs. Reconfigurable manufacturing, therefore, provides capacity and functionality on demand which is essential for competitiveness in fast-changing markets. Furthermore, Industry 4.0 or even more so, Industry 5.0 emphasizes human-centred production with collaborative robots, Cobots, to create human-robot interactions. In such scenarios, safety and security are difficult to address due to the intrinsic features of reconfigurable manufacturing, like exposure to numerous requirements changes in a short period. As safety and security can conflict in different phases of the system life-cycle, one of the earliest activities to avoid conflicts is requirements engineering which can significantly diminish the cost and time of fixing issues compared to later phases like operation. This paper proposes a methodology for safety and security requirements interaction management, including conflict detection and resolution, and shows its applicability through a reconfigurable collaborative human-robot use case. Based on the proposed methodology, we detected and resolved two safety and security requirement conflicts.

In the era of cloud computing, virtualization based fault tolerance that utilizes the continuous virtual machine (VM) migration to synchronize a VM and its remote replica is a common technique to achieve high availability. However, traditional live VM migration, whose goal is to minimize the system downtime, has a long duration owing to the expense of the pre-copy for machine status and memory content, which increases the period of failover when failures occur. In this paper, we proposed a new VM migration method, called Fast VM Migration (FVMM), which utilizes the templating technique to accelerate the VM migration by reducing the cost of pre-copy. The templating technique that creates VMs from a master copy, called a template, is a usually used to dep.oy many similar VMs in a large virtual environment. FVMM employs VM templating to mitigate the cost of pre-copy. Its implementation is optimized with six new techniques: SFVMM and LFVMM, COW templating, continuous templating, asynchronous transmission buffering, VM recovery from continuous templating, and templating regularly. We also applied FVMM for virtualization based fault tolerance to accelerate the failover process. Experimental results show that FVMM is more than 56 times faster than pre-copy live migration for a VM with 16GB, and can reduce upto 32% of the system downtime and the fault tolerance resynchronization time comparing to the methods using pre-copy live migration.

The Internet of Things (loT) facilitates the interconnection of a vast array of devices, services, and individuals for data exchange in multi-domain loT ecosystems, the social, physical, and cyber domains. That emerges various security, privacy, and trust issues, such as vulnerabilities, threats, and attacks. Addressing these challenges requires innovative solutions. New controls (solutions) are needed. Trust by design can be one of these controls, supporting security and privacy (among other system components). This paper proposes a Trusted loT (TloT), a trust-by-design model, and highlights the author's principal contributions. First, it advocates for implementing Tlo T through trust services. Second, it outlines an architecture for using trust by design in loT, including the design of its top-level structure and activities. Minor contributions include overviews of loT and trust, as well as looking at security and privacy in terms of security services and privacy services, respectively.

Distinguishing causal connections from correlations is important in many scenarios. However, the presence of unobserved variables, such as the latent confounder, can introduce bias in conditional indep.ndence testing commonly employed in constraint-based causal discovery for identifying causal relations. To address this issue, existing methods introduced proxy variables to adjust for the bias caused by unobserveness. However, these methods were either limited to categorical variables or relied on strong parametric assumptions for identification. In this paper, we propose a novel hypothesis-testing procedure that can effectively examine the existence of the causal relationship over continuous variables, without any parametric constraint. Our procedure is based on discretization, which under completeness conditions, is able to asymptotically establish a linear equation whose coefficient vector is identifiable under the causal null hypothesis. Based on this, we introduce our test statistic and demonstrate its asymptotic level and power. We validate the effectiveness of our procedure using both synthetic and real-world data. This paper addresses the influence of nanoparticles (NPs) on the dielectric properties of polyurethane. In this research, we only investigated the effect of Al2O3, MgO and ZnO NPs for concentrations up to 2% wt and in the temperature range from 25 to 120 °C. During the preparation of nanocomposites, polymer chains bind to NPs, which then limits their mobility. This effect results in a decrease in real permittivity and the course of polarization mechanisms. We observed an increase in permittivity over the entire temperature range only for a 2% MgO concentration. The decrease in the mobility of polymer chains was confirmed by dynamic-mechanical analysis. This method also results in an increase in the glass transition temperature dep.nding on the type and concentration of NPs. The presence of NPs and the limited mobility of the polymer chains results in a shift of the low-frequency local maximum to lower frequencies © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
