This paper contains an analysis of the LockerGoga ransomware that was used in the range of targeted cyberattacks in the first half of 2019 against Norsk Hydra-A world top 5 aluminum manufacturer, as well as the US chemical enterprises Hexion, and Momentive-Those companies are only the tip of the iceberg that reported the attack to the public. The ransomware was executed by attackers from inside a corporate network to encrypt the data on enterprise servers and, thus, taking down the information control systems. The intruders asked for a ransom to release a master key and decryption tool that can be used to decrypt the affected files. The purpose of the analysis is to find out tactics and techniques used by the LockerGoga ransomware during the cryptolocker attack as well as an encryption model to answer the question if the encrypted files can be decrypted with or without paying a ransom. The scientific novelty of the paper lies in an analysis methodology that is based on various reverse engineering techniques such as multi-process debugging and using open source code of a cryptographic library to find out a ransomware encryption model. © 2019 IEEE.

This paper presents a generalized direct power control (DPC) scheme for grid connected multilevel converters. The proposed method extends the original DPC operating principle by considering only for selection the closest vectors to the present switching state. This approach requires the power derivatives for feedback, which can present numerical implementation problems in real time. Therefore a grid virtual flux based observer is proposed to overcome this issue. The proposed method is applicable to any multilevel converter topology of any number of levels. In this paper simulations results are presented for a 9 level cascaded H-bridge converter. The proposed solution enables DPC for multilevel converters used in medium voltage applications while improving overall power quality and efficiency of the system.

This paper treats the problem of 3D outdoor environment mapping using images acquired by Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The main focus is on the generation of 3D model for large scale environments. In order to perform 3D model reconstruction and mapping from 2D aerial images we employed a Structure from Motion (SfM) based approach. The obtained results using this approach for different scenarios, the rubble field and village, are presented. The generated UAV 3D point cloud data are compared with the ground truth using the least square method, where the ground truth represents a reference model with high accuracy geodetic precision. The comparison of the 3D environment models with the rubble field and village scenarios and the ground truth data is also given.

Organizations today represent dynamic complex systems and their behaviour cannot be examined effectively through the reductionist view of it. Competitive advantage is the ability to exploit opportunities that occur inside and outside the organisation, and adapt to meet these opportunities. It is the alignment of external and internal environments of an organization, which create and sustain competitive advantage. The use of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) as a performance measure and a strategic control tool, contributes to organization's survival and success. The adoption of the BSC contributes to certain type of behaviour, which is elicited through the use of positive feedback. Acceptable actions are reinforced through the appropriate culture (norms and values) and rewards linked to performance. As the pace of change is increasing, there is a constant demand for creativity and innovation. Agile and flexible BSC serves as strange attractors in the system's agents behaviour, operating in a turbulent dynamic environment. Feedbacks and information distributed throughout the system, upgrading knowledge and ultimately improving performance through learning. Organizations that are able to learn from their environment and change their internal structure survive and prosper through transformation, which is substantially influenced by strange attractors. Chaos theory can help us to understand and improve the transformation process and through the use of the BSC. © 2011 Kavala Institute of Technology.

In this paper a novel type reducer for interval type-2 fuzzy systems is proposed. Type reduction of interval type-2 fuzzy systems requires the solution of two nonlinear constrained optimization problems. Existing exact solutions to these problems (Karnik-Mendel algorithms and their variants) require sorting which is known to be computationally very expensive. In this research, these optimization problems are reformulated and novel improved solutions to these problem are proposed which do not require sorting any more. Simulation results show that the results obtained using the proposed methods are exactly the same as that of enhanced Karnik-Mendel algorithms with at least 9% less computational time when the number of rules of fuzzy system is bigger than ten. For more number of rules, it is even possible that the proposed methods converge 37% faster than enhanced Karnik-Mendel algorithms. In addition, it is shown that the computational time required by the proposed methods grow linearly as the number of the rules increases.

Autonomous guided agricultural self-propelled machines are becoming more common in modern agriculture as well as the increased use of electronic solutions. In order to guarantee the effectiveness of Functional Safety functions software validation is also becoming more complex and critical during the product development. Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) systems not only improve software validation coverage, but also guarantee that neither operator nor machine will be put in a risky situation during the field validation phase. This article presents the case of HIL validation used in the development of a South American hybrid combine harvester.

This study presents a dipper-throated-based ant colony optimization (DTACO) with the Seasonal Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average with eXogenous factor (SARIMAX) model (DTACO+SARIMAX) to forecast monkeypox cases. The work optimizes the SARIMAX model using grid search cross-validation and fine-tunes its hyperparameters using DTACO to improve prediction accuracy. The suggested model's consistency and accuracy are considerable compared to previous studies. Comparisons with state-of-the-art models validate the proposed model's predictions. DTACO+SARIMAX can be used to control disease and monitor monkeypox. Healthcare organizations and governments can better manage and track the pandemic's course by offering accurate predictions, reducing public panic, and enabling effective pandemic planning. The Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests are conducted on the proposed DTACO-SARIMAX model and compared models. © 2023 IEEE.

This work presents the first fully-automated computer-aided analysis approach to the quantification of the expression of receptors for the non-small cell lung carcinoma. This immunohistochemical analysis is usually performed by pathologists via visual inspection of tissue samples images. Our techniques streamlines this error-prone and time-consuming process, thereby facilitating analysis and diagnosis. Experimental results on several real-life datasets demonstrate the high quantitative precision of our approach

We address a new robust optimization problem in a multiuser multiple-input single-output broadcasting system with simultaneous wireless information and power transmission. Assuming that perfect channel-state information (CSI) for all channels is not available at the BS, the uncertainty of the CSI is modeled by an norm-bounded uncertainty set. To optimally design transmit beamforming weights and receive power splitting, an average total transmit power minimization problem is investigated subject to the individual harvested power constraint and the received signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio constraint at each user. The original design problem is reformulated to a relaxed semidefinite program, and then two different approaches based on convex programming are proposed, which can be solved efficiently by the interior point algorithm. Interestingly, we show that the semidefinite relaxation (SDR) is tight. Numerical results are provided to validate the robustness of the proposed algorithms.

This paper sets out to apply concepts of non linear dynamics theory nai neural networks to the prediction of CDS index using Greek, Turkey, Russia, Brazil and China data. The research employs the method of false near neighbors in the time series analysis in order to estimate the minimum membedding dimensions of the corresponding strange attractor. To achieve out of the sample multistep ahead prediction, a neural net is constructed which architectures based on strange attractors topological properties. © 2011 Kavala Institute of Technology.
