Gaussian process regression is used to develop a model for predicting the superlattice (SL) structures grown on a 6.3 Å lattice. This model is used to search for optimized hole transport properties. Nonequilibrium Green’s functions calculations are used to determine the vertical hole mobility of the structure which is compared with both the calculated and experimental results for an experimental SL grown on a GaSb substrate. Ultimately, a simple analytical model is used to approximate and compare the quantum efficiency of a photodiode containing each structure demonstrating an improvement in device performance using the optimized SL structure.

The recent COVID-19 pandemic highlighted that there is a lot of work to do regarding the integration of digital technologies in healthcare. Actual trending offers the possibility to patients to have permanent knowledge about their health status and not to go to have a general check when some symptoms appear. Internet of Things (IoT) has also reached the medical area and can offer high quality solutions. After this step is taken the data collected and stored locally or remote in the cloud cand be easily reached, analyzed and health monitoring for each patient is much improved. © 2021 IEEE.

Free space optical (FSO) communication offers an excellent opportunity to develop energy-efficient, secure, and ultrafast data links for 5G and beyond applications, including heterogeneous networks with massive connectivity and wireless backhauls for cellular systems. However, the effect of an optical beam's pointing inaccuracy combined with the impact of climate factors must be considered in the FSO communication system. In this paper, we first evaluate the performance reliability and availability of NRZ-based mode division multiplexing (MDM)-FSO backhaul. In particular, a single wavelength laser is used to transmit four different optical beams, using four different wavelengths. It also explores and classifies four beams used for capacity enhancement in mode division multiplexed MDM-FSO backhaul links. Several Machine Learning (ML) models are used to classify the four optical modes. Results indicate successful transmission of 80 Gbps. Furthermore, the primary findings indicate that the ML model exhibits an impressive accuracy rate of approximately 97% in classifying four distinct beams.

This research introduces a high step-up DC-DC converter for renewable energy sources (RESs) that has lower voltage stress on its single switch. With one linked coupled inductor (CI), a quadratic boost converter plus a couple of multiplier units are utilized as circuits for primary and secondary, respectively. The energy from the leakage inductance can be recycled, increasing efficiency and reducing voltage stress. The proposed converter has a higher voltage gain and lower switch stress when compared to similar existing quadratic converter topologies. The operation principles and mathematical analysis of the proposed converter are thoroughly studied. Following that, a comparison of several structures is presented. Finally, simulation results of PSCAD software are shown to further verify the theoretical study.

This article presents a novel system designed for human resources (HR) companies, aiming to predict an individual's personality based on resume analysis through the integration of advanced information technology tools. At the core of this system is Airable, serving as the central database, which is seamlessly I integrated with various other tools such as *** for document handling, GitHub for code repository management, and OpenAI for advanced AI algorithms. The integration and automation of these diverse tools are skillfully orchestrated using Make, a no-code solution that streamlines the workflow and enhances efficiency. This innovative approach allows HR companies to leverage technology for more accurate personality predictions, thereby improving their recruitment processes and decision-making strategies.

PUSH: a primal heuristic based on Feasibility PUmp and SHifting

This work describes PUSH, a primal heuristic combining Feasibility Pump and Shifting. The main idea is to replace the rounding phase of the Feasibility Pump with a suitable adaptation of the Shifting and other rounding heuristics. The algorithm presents different strategies, dep.nding on the nature of the partial rounding obtained. In particular, we distinguish when the partial solution is feasible, infeasible with potential candidates and infeasible without candidates. We used a threshold to indicate the percentage of variables to round with our algorithm and which other to round to the nearest integer. Most importantly, our algorithm tackles directly equality constraints without duplicating rows. We select the parameters of our algorithm on the 19 instances provided for the Mip Competition 2022. Finally, we compared our approach to other start heuristics, like Simple Rounding, Rounding, Shifting and Feasibility Pump on the first 800 MIPLIB2017 instances ordered by the number of non *** Codes 90-08 Copyright © 2022, The Authors. The FC Portugal 3D team is developed upon the structure of our previous Simulation league 2D/3D teams and our standard platform league team. Our research concerning the robot low-level skills is focused on developing behaviors that may be applied on real robots with minimal adaptation using model-based approaches. Our research on high-level soccer coordination methodologies and team playing is mainly focused on the adaptation of previously developed methodologies from our 2D soccer teams to the 3D humanoid environment and on creating new coordination methodologies based on the previously developed ones. The research-oriented development of our team has been pushing it to be one of the most competitive over the years (World champion in 2000 and Coach Champion in 2002, European champion in 2000 and 2001, Coach 2nd place in 2003 and 2004, European champion in Rescue Simulation and Simulation 3D in 2006, World Champion in Simulation 3D in Bremen 2006 and European champion in 2007, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015). This paper describes some of the main innovations of our 3D simulation league team during the last years. A new generic framework for reinforcement learning tasks has also been developed. This paper also includes general information related to the design of our agent architecture. The current research is focused on improving the above-mentioned framework by developing new learning algorithms to optimize low-level skills, such as running and sprinting. We are also trying to increase student contact by providing reinforcement learning assignments to be completed using our new framework, which exposes a simple interface without sharing low-level implementation details. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

Cognitive radio (CR) is considered a primary technology for spectrum usage efficiency and dynamic spectrum management. Spectrum sensing is an essential cognitive radio cycle function. Recently, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) technology has emerged as a promising new enabler of 6G wireless communication, with the ability to control signal propagation and increase signal coverage and spectrum management. This paper investigates how integrating RISs with CR can improve spectral efficiency. First, we optimize the RIS parameters by identifying the optimal transmit powers and number of RIS antennas. Then, we compare the novel RIS technology with the traditional decode-and-forward (DF) relaying technology. Next, we investigate how adopting RIS can enhance spectral efficiency. Finally, we demonstrate how integrating the novel technology of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces with CR can significantly increase spectrum detection, the most crucial step in the cognitive radio process. Simulation studies indicate that RIS is more energy-efficient than SISO and DF-relay communications in various setups. Moreover, by boosting spectrum sensing capability in CR situations, RISs can significantly enhance the efficiency of frequency spectrum usage. © 2023 IEEE.

Congestion control has been considered as a principal technology for efficient end-to-end traffic transmission. Previous studies on congestion control are mainly focused on the control of the transmission rate or window size at the host. However, such host-based congestion controls have difficulties on short time-scale variable network conditions and increased host complexity. To address this problem, network-based congestion controls that utilize network information have been considered which determine and control the congestion using the network information. In this paper, we review the network-based congestion control methods.

This paper presents the results of a series of machine learning experiments that focus on the domain adaption between different training datasets for autonomous driving. The experiments use a neural network model obtained through transfer learning from the Waymo Open Dataset and then tested with our custom dataset, which was recorded at the TalTech campus in different weather conditions. In this work, we developed a set of tools to extract and process the sensory data from the iseAuto shuttle. The camera and LiDAR sensors of the iseAuto shuttle were calibrated, and the point clouds data of the LiDAR sensor was projected onto the camera plane. We present, here, our publicly available iseAuto dataset which was used for a classification task under adverse weather and low illumination conditions. The iseAuto dataset contains 8000 frames of camera and LiDAR data for traffic object detection and segmentation. We provide ground truth annotations of 2400 frames, in which the object contours were manually labeled out. In addition, we provided the manual-labeled ground-truth segmentations of cars and humans in images, which can be used by the community to test the accuracy of the segmentation of their models. An additional focus of this paper is to demonstrate that with a few custom annotated data, using transfer learning and semi-supervised learning, it is possible to obtain reasonable accuracy on noisy real-world data. The current performance in vehicle segmentation ranges from 65% to 85% in intersection over union (IoU) and between 43% and 60% IoU for pedestrian segmentation in challenging scenarios such as nighttime and rainy weather.
