Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) [1] is adopted as the main signaling protocol for the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). Large dep.oyment of SIP servers in Next Generation Networks (NGN) requires studying the behavior and performance of SIP servers under both normal and overload conditions, which may happen in such networks with a vast number of users. In this paper a measurement-based study is performed to assess SIP proxy server performance under different configurations, and for different underlying transport protocols, for both inter-domain and intra-domain calls. Test results show the effectiveness of configuration and distance on SIP signaling performance. Therefore a great attention must be paid during SIP servers dep.oyment. © 2009 IEEE.

This paper presents an approach based on Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) to solve the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (CVRP) with maximum traveling distance per route and additional costs per service, which introduces additional challenges to the classical CVRP. The basic idea behind our approach is to combine direct MCS with an efficient heuristics -e.g. the Clarke and Wright Savings (CWS) algorithm- and a divide-and-conquer technique. The CWS heuristics provides a constructive methodology which is improved in two ways: (i) a special random behavior is introduced in the methodology -in this case, a geometric distribution is used for this purpose;and (ii) a divide-and-conquer technique is used to decompose the original problem in smaller sub-problems that are easy to deal with. Our approach is then validated using a set of well-known benchmarks. Finally, the paper discusses some advantages and disadvantages of our approach with respect other existing approaches. ©2009 IEEE.

With the emergence of Web 2.0 applications, where information is not only shared across the internet, but also syndicated, evaluated, selected, recombined, edited, etc., quality emergence by collaborative effort from many users becomes crucial. However, users may have low expertise, subjective views, or competitive goals. Therefore, we need to identify cooperative users with strong expertise and high objectivity. As a first step towards this aim, we propose criteria for user type classification based on prior work in psychology and derived from observations in Web 2.0. We devise a statistical model for many different user types, and detection methods for those user types. Finally, we evaluate and demonstrate both model and detection methods by means of an experimental setup. Copyright 2009 ACM.

With the advent of online social networks, the trust-based approach to recommendation has emerged which exploits the trust network among users and makes recommendations based on the ratings of trusted users in the network. In this paper, we introduce a two dimensional trust model which dynamically gets updated based on users's feedbacks, in contrast to static trust values in current trust models. Explorability measures the extent to which a user can rely on recommendations returned by the social network of a trusted user. dep.ndability represents the extent to which a user's own ratings can be trusted by users trusting him directly and indirectly. We propose a method to learn the values of explorability and dep.ndability from raw trust data and feedback expressed by users on the recommendations they receive. Positive feedback will increase the trust and negative feedback will decrease the trust among users. We performed an evaluation on the Epinions dataset, demonstrating that exploiting user feedback results in lower prediction error compared to existing trust-based and collaborative filtering approaches. Leaf vein contains significant physiological information of plant. Leaf vein extraction is one of the key steps in plant modeling and plant recognition. Several methods have been presented on leaf vein extraction but all of them are limited in narrow application fields. In this paper a universal method is proposed using hue and intensity information. According to the color difference between leaf vein and mesophyll, leaves are classified as the contrasting color leaf and the concolorous leaf. Leaf vein of the contrasting color leaf can be extracted using only hue information. Leaf vein extraction of the concolorous leaf needs both hue and intensity information. The method has been programmed under Visual C++6.0 and many leaves from different plants have been tested. The results show a good applicability. Compared with other method, new method is simple, fast and universal. It can be embedded in the leaf feature extraction system and work in human-computer interaction way. ©2009 IEEE.

The diffusion of new Internet and web technologies has increased the distribution of different digital content, such as text, sounds, images and videos. In this paper we focus on images and their role in the analysis of diversity. We consider diversity as a concept that takes into account the wide variety of information sources, and their differences in perspective and viewpoint. We describe a number of different dimensions of diversity;in particular, we analyze the dimensions related to image searches and context analysis, emotions conveyed by images and opinion mining, and bias analysis.

The emergence of peer-to-peer (P2P) applications has posed a threat to the operating cost of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) due to the large amount of inter-ISP traffic generated. The problem stems from the mismatch between the P2P overlay network formed randomly and the underlying physical network. Recently, BitTorrent has attracted enormous users by its convenience of large-scale content distribution and has also become a major challenge for ISPs. Therefore, in this paper we proposed an effective B-Proxy scheme to evaluate through realistic simulation on PlanetLab, where hundreds of BitTorrent clients were executed during the experiment. Simulation results show that more than thirty percent of inter-ISP traffic could be saved in a torrent with a relatively small cache size consumed which is only eighth times that of the original file. ©2009 IEEE.

As more and more devices are equipped with multiple network interfaces, the multihomed technology is becoming an important technology that can provide more reliable connections against the network failure and better data transmission rate. Concurrent Multipath Transfer (CMT), which is based on SCTP, is devised for multihomed networks. CMT can transmit data over all paths to maximum the data transmission speed. One of the main concerns of CMT is the receiver buffer blocking issue, especially in multihomed wireless mobile networks. If the receiver buffer is blocked, the sender can send only one packet to the receiver. The receiver buffer blocking is mainly caused by the lost data. For small memory devices, e.g., PDA, smart phone and embedded systems, the receiver buffer is limited and has less free space to prevent receiver buffer blocking. In this paper, we proposed Media Indep.ndent Handover - Concurrent Multipath Transfer (MIH-CMT) over wireless networks to deal with the receiver buffer blocking caused by handoff loss. MIH-CMT can reduce the amount of packet loss during handoff, which may lead to the receiver buffer blocking. Simulation results show that MIH-CMT can reduce the effect of the receiver buffer blocking effectively for devices that have smaller buffer size. ©2009 IEEE.

Aspect-oriented concepts are currently exploited to model systems from the beginning of their development. Aspects capture potentially crosscutting concerns and make it easier to formulate desirable properties and to understand analysis results than in a tangled system. However, the complexity of interactions among different aspectualized entities may reduce the benefit of aspect-oriented separation of crosscutting concerns. Some interactions may be intended or may be emerging behavior, while others are the source of unexpected inconsistencies. It is therefore desirable to detect inconsistencies as early as possible, preferably at the modeling level. We propose an approach for analyzing interactions and potential inconsistencies at the level of requirements modeling. We use a variant of UML to model requirements in a use case driven approach. Activities that are used to refine use cases are the joinpoints to compose crosscutting concerns. The activities and their composition are formalized using the theory of graph transformation systems, which provides analysis support for detecting potential conflicts and dep.ndencies between rule-based transformations. This theory is used to effectively reason about potential interactions and inconsistencies caused by aspect-oriented composition. The analysis is performed with the graph transformation tool AGG in order to get a better understanding of the potential behavior of the composed system. In addition, the activity control flow of the aspect/base specification and the composition operators are taken into account to identify the relevant interactions. © 2009 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.

The paper deals with the modelling of riveted joints in aircraft structures with Finite Element Method. Presented works were carried out within Eureka project No. E!3496 called IMPERJA. The goal of the IMPERJA project is to increase the fatigue life of riveted joints, which will lead to an increase of the aircraft service life, a smaller number of inspections and lower operation costs of an aircraft. The project assumed FEM modelling of the operating aircraft's structure at three different complexity levels, namely considering the complete structure, a structural detail and a single riveted joint. The paper presents analyses of various rivet models and calculations of a structure and a riveted joint. In the first part examples of various models, at global and local level, were presented and usefulness of them was discussed, influence of the following simplification was analysed;• neglection of rivets in a model (elements are jointed continuously) • rivet as a rigid element (MPC) • neglection of contact phenomenon • neglection of secondary bending • neglection of residual stresses after riveting process The basis of the analysis was the asymmetric butt joint model with 14 rivets. The model which took into account secondary bending and contact phenomenon was analysed as well. The method of modelling residual stresses with temperature and thermal coefficient was used. In the second part, the example of analysis of riveted joint was demonstrated for a wing of PZL M28 Skytruck aircraft. It's is a twin-engine, high-wing, cantilever monoplane of all-metal structure with maximum take-off and landing weight 7500 kg. A submodeling technique was used there. At first, part of the wing model, based on a CAD model, was built. It includes 7 ribs and 6 bulkheads between them. Dimensions of the model eliminate stress perturbation, connected with boundary conditions, in the area near the middle rib. It was a shell model.
