This study presents a dipper-throated-based ant colony optimization (DTACO) with the Seasonal Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average with eXogenous factor (SARIMAX) model (DTACO+SARIMAX) to forecast monkeypox cases. The work optimizes the SARIMAX model using grid search cross-validation and fine-tunes its hyperparameters using DTACO to improve prediction accuracy. The suggested model's consistency and accuracy are considerable compared to previous studies. Comparisons with state-of-the-art models validate the proposed model's predictions. DTACO+SARIMAX can be used to control disease and monitor monkeypox. Healthcare organizations and governments can better manage and track the pandemic's course by offering accurate predictions, reducing public panic, and enabling effective pandemic planning. The Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests are conducted on the proposed DTACO-SARIMAX model and compared models.

As security becomes a strong factor in daily activities, finding secure ways to unlock machines and smartphones is a challenge due to hardware limitations and the high risk of hacking. Considering the level of security and privacy in the digital world, attackers tend to be one step ahead. Therefore, this technical paper introduces a brain-computer interface (BCI) for increasing subject-based security using unique biometric features as a solution to build complex passwords. The BCI measures brain changes and extracts relevant bio-features from each subject using non-invasive electroencephalogram (EEG) tests. The proposed system allows users to gain access to their devices using brain waves (bypass) instead of inserting their password manually (normal path), which saves the user time and upgrades the level of privacy as no physical actions are required during this process. This system is also well suited for individuals with mobility impairments. We used the P300-based BCI controlling paradigm which dep.nds on reading the electrical brain activity of the user when observing a particular object. The other feature of the system is that it can extract unique features of each individual brain to produce a network that uniquely identifies them, which is used as a security layer. Users need to enter their unique network to access their device with failed attempts requiring an EEG test to identify the user. The system plays an active role in facilitating user processes for authentication while accessing devices. The system establishes an urgent call whenever the user’s brain currents command it to. The project outcomes were assessed by simulating the BCI before real-time implementation to determine errors and resolve the validity of the project scope.

Digital content industry, encompassing areas such as digital games, computer animation, digital audio-visual applications, and digital art, plays a pivotal role in today's and future developmental trends. Maya 3D software stands out as a crucial development tool in these domains. However, the multitude of built-in tools in Maya 3D can lead to overly complex interfaces, impacting development efficiency for software developers. To address this issue, this paper designs a digital toolkit for Maya 3D software, presented in a Menu Bar format. This toolkit offers features like naming, sorting, categorization, and automatic saving to JSON files for future use. Through a crossover experimental design, this paper investigates the impact of this proposed toolkit on 3D software developers' individual work performance, work engagement, and stress perception. Results shows a significant positive influence of that toolkit on software developers, particularly in enhancing work performance. It means that the proposed digital toolkit effectively improves the performance of software developers' work and reduces their stress during the software development process.

The FC Portugal 3D team is developed upon the structure of our previous Simulation league 2D/3D teams and our standard platform league team. Our research concerning the robot low-level skills is focused on developing behaviors that may be applied on real robots with minimal adaptation using model-based approaches. Our research on high-level soccer coordination methodologies and team playing is mainly focused on the adaptation of previously developed methodologies from our 2D soccer teams to the 3D humanoid environment and on creating new coordination methodologies based on the previously developed ones. The research-oriented development of our team has been pushing it to be one of the most competitive over the years (World champion in 2000 and Coach Champion in 2002, European champion in 2000 and 2001, Coach 2nd place in 2003 and 2004, European champion in Rescue Simulation and Simulation 3D in 2006, World Champion in Simulation 3D in Bremen 2006 and European champion in 2007, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015). This paper describes some of the main innovations of our 3D simulation league team during the last years. A new generic framework for reinforcement learning tasks has also been developed. This paper also includes general information related to the design of our agent architecture. The current research is focused on improving the above-mentioned framework by developing new learning algorithms to optimize low-level skills, such as running and sprinting. We are also trying to increase student contact by providing reinforcement learning assignments to be completed using our new framework, which exposes a simple interface without sharing low-level implementation details. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

Forecasting time series (TS) from their historical data is used in many preventive monitoring and decision support systems in industry. For systems operating in real-time, an urgent problem is to reduce forecasting time without compromising other quality indexes (accuracy and trend continuation). The purpose of this paper is to describe a forecasting model based on a recurrent penalized P-spline. The spline model has a compact computational scheme where the efficiency is achieved by using a short input of historical data a simple mathematical description. The model was compared to 11 most well-known forecasting algorithms. The performance of the proposed model compared quite well to the competitive forecasting algorithms. The model was used to forecast a real-world TS of a technological parameter of a boiler plant.

Cognitive radio (CR) is considered a primary technology for spectrum usage efficiency and dynamic spectrum management. Spectrum sensing is an essential cognitive radio cycle function. Recently, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) technology has emerged as a promising new enabler of 6G wireless communication, with the ability to control signal propagation and increase signal coverage and spectrum management. This paper investigates how integrating RISs with CR can improve spectral efficiency. First, we optimize the RIS parameters by identifying the optimal transmit powers and number of RIS antennas. Then, we compare the novel RIS technology with the traditional decode-and-forward (DF) relaying technology. Next, we investigate how adopting RIS can enhance spectral efficiency. Finally, we demonstrate how integrating the novel technology of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces with CR can significantly increase spectrum detection, the most crucial step in the cognitive radio process. Simulation studies indicate that RIS is more energy-efficient than SISO and DF-relay communications in various setups. Moreover, by boosting spectrum sensing capability in CR situations, RISs can significantly enhance the efficiency of frequency spectrum usage. © 2023 IEEE.

Congestion control has been considered as a principal technology for efficient end-to-end traffic transmission. Previous studies on congestion control are mainly focused on the control of the transmission rate or window size at the host. However, such host-based congestion controls have difficulties on short time-scale variable network conditions and increased host complexity. To address this problem, network-based congestion controls that utilize network information have been considered which determine and control the congestion using the network information. In this paper, we review the network-based congestion control methods.

Image processing techniques can be used to detect potential defects in images of infrastructure elements that have been collected or scanned. Aside from image processing, machine learning technologies are increasingly being applied to increase crack detection performance and resilience. A novel Surface Crack Detection Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) named the SCD11 CNN model is proposed. The main aim of this research paper is to improve efficiency and minimize the loss rate. The proposed CNN model is compared with the CNNs, including Inception V3, VGG16, and ResNet50, using a Surface Cracks Dataset. The accuracy and loss of the proposed model are compared. The results show that the proposed SCD11 CNN model performs better in test accuracy than Inception V3 and VGG16 and has a slightly lower accuracy than ResNet50.

Many real-world problems are notoriously multi-objective and NP-hard. Hence, there is a constant striving for optimizers capable of solving such problems effectively. In this paper, we examine the Multi-Objective Parameter-less Population Pyramid (MO-P3). MO-P3 is based on the Parameter-less Population Pyramid (P3) that was dedicated to solving single-objective problems. P3 employs linkage learning to decompose the problem and uses this information during its run. P3 maintains many different linkage information sets, which is the key to effectively solve the problems of the overlapping nature, i.e., the problems whose variables form a large and complicated network of dep.ndencies rather than additively separable blocks. MO-P3 inherits the features of its predecessor and employs both linkage learning and linkage diversity maintenance to effectively solve hard multi-objective problems, which includes both: well-known test problems and NP-hard real-world problems. © 2021 Owner/Author.

A backdoor in a finite-domain CSP instance is a set of variables where each possible instantiation moves the instance into a polynomial-time solvable class. Backdoors have found many applications in artificial intelligence and elsewhere, and the algorithmic problem of finding such backdoors has consequently been intensively studied. Sioutis and Janhunen (Proc. 42nd German Conference on AI (KI-2019)) have proposed a generalised backdoor concept suitable for infinite-domain CSP instances over binary constraints. We generalise their concept into a large class of CSPs that allow for higher-arity constraints. We show that this kind of infinite-domain backdoors have many of the positive computational properties that finite-domain backdoors have: the associated computational problems are fixed-parameter tractable whenever the underlying constraint language is finite. On the other hand, we show that infinite languages make the problems considerably harder: the general backdoor detection problem is W[2]-hard and fixed-parameter tractability is ruled out under standard complexity-theoretic assumptions. We demonstrate that backdoors may have suboptimal behaviour on binary constraints—this is detrimental from an AI perspective where binary constraints are predominant in, for instance, spatiotemporal applications. In response to this, we introduce sidedoors as an alternative to backdoors. The fundamental computational problems for sidedoors remain fixed-parameter tractable for finite constraint language (possibly also containing non-binary relations). Moreover, the sidedoor approach has appealing computational properties that sometimes leads to faster algorithms than the backdoor approach. © 2022, CC BY.
