Quantum cryptanalysis methods are used to crack the majority of symmetric key ciphers. With this knowledge, cryptologists should be able to create post-quantum symmetric ciphers by incorporating these new quantum cryptanalysis techniques into their toolkit. Secure communication is crucial for applications related to the Internet of Things (IoT) to avoid cyberattacks. Cryptographic hash functions can be used to protect data integrity. The development of large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computers is the most significant challenge. Recent techniques to attack symmetric key schemes can be achieved by using the Pre-image attack method, Simon’s algorithm, or by combining Simon’s and Grover’s algorithms. In this study, we explored some of the most recent methods for quantum cryptanalysis of symmetric key ciphers. Firstly, we discussed the design of quantum cryptanalysis methods, along with the advantages over classical procedures. In this paper, we illustrate the implementation of the NIST-standard lightweight hash function PHOTON-Beetle on a Quantum computer (using IBM Qiskit), which is mostly used in IoT devices. Efficient quantum implementation of PHOTON-Beetle is proposed in this paper. This paper calculates the quantum cost of PHOTON-Beetle for every layer and compares it with [1].

Considering today's variety of technologies and devices connected to the network, a huge number of manufacturers, there are many problems of their interaction and the need to create and adopt specialized communication standards and protocols. This article is devoted to the description of various protocols proposed by the IEEE, IETF and ITU for use in the framework of the concept of the Internet of Things. The article includes a description of the protocols of the application, transport, network and data link layers of the TCP / IP model. It also discusses protocols designed specifically to meet IoT requirements. A brief description of the protocols and the principle of operation of each of them are given. This review article contributes to a more correct choice of protocols when building a network, detecting and managing devices, and establishing interaction between objects of the Internet of Things.

A novel distributed particle filter algorithm for target tracking is proposed in this paper. It uses new metrics and addresses the measurement uncertainty problem by adapting the particle filter to environmental changes and estimating the kinematic (motion-related) parameters of the target. The aim is to calculate the distance between the Gaussian-distributed probability densities of kinematic data and to generate the optimal distribution that maximizes the precision. The proposed data fusion method can be used in several smart environments and Internet of Things (IoT) applications that call for target tracking, such as smart building applications, security surveillance, smart healthcare, and intelligent transportation, to mention a few. The diverse estimation techniques were compared with the state-of-the-art solutions by measuring the estimation root mean square error in different settings under different conditions, including high-noise environments. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is scalable and outperforms the standard particle filter, the improved particle filter based on KLD, and the consensus-based particle filter algorithm.

The exploitation of renewable energy sources is nowadays a fundamental factor for the sustainable development and the transition to low a carbon energy production system. However, the fluctuating and unpredictable behavior of energy sources like wind complicates their integration into energy systems and they need to be coupled with storage systems to fully exploit their potential. The main objective of this paper is thus to develop a novel Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) algorithm capable of providing the optimal sizing and management of a hydrogen storage unit within a Hybrid Renewable Energy System (HRES) in which the produced energy is sold to the power grid. The algorithm has been validated with data from a case study located in Italy. The Hybrid Renewable Energy System under investigation is constituted by a hydropower plant, a wind turbine and a hydrogen storage system. The latter is composed of a Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (PEM) electrolyzer, four pressurized hydrogen tanks, and a PEM fuel cell. The optimal management has been obtained by responding to a unit commitment analysis.

Phishing is a cyber threat where attackers create deceptive websites or emails to exploit individuals for fraudulent purposes such as providing sensitive information like usernames, passwords, or financial details. Hence, detecting phishing emails is of paramount importance to protect sensitive information, preventing financial losses, protecting against identity theft, and maintaining trust. This study employs machine learning techniques to classify and categorize websites that are used for phishing attacks. To achieve this, we proposed a classification model for the detection of phishing domains based on classification rules. These rules were formulated based on analyzing and distributing them into three classifiers: domain name features, search engine opinion (SEO) information of the domain, and security scans by security vendors. A total of eleven classification rules were formulated which were distributed as follows: six rules for the first classifier, four rules for the second classifier, and one rule for the third classifier. Each classifier feeds its results to the main classifier, which then evaluates the received results based on its rules. Domain names from 222 confirmed phishing URLs were used to test the suggested model. The model demonstrated exceptional performance, achieving an impressive accuracy rate of 99.1% during testing.

The Internet of Things (loT) facilitates the interconnection of a vast array of devices, services, and individuals for data exchange in multi-domain loT ecosystems, the social, physical, and cyber domains. That emerges various security, privacy, and trust issues, such as vulnerabilities, threats, and attacks. Addressing these challenges requires innovative solutions. New controls (solutions) are needed. Trust by design can be one of these controls, supporting security and privacy (among other system components). This paper proposes a Trusted loT (TloT), a trust-by-design model, and highlights the author's principal contributions. First, it advocates for implementing Tlo T through trust services. Second, it outlines an architecture for using trust by design in loT, including the design of its top-level structure and activities. Minor contributions include overviews of loT and trust, as well as looking at security and privacy in terms of security services and privacy services, respectively.

Low altitude airspace economy applications will be of highly effective in a wide range of civil activities and will be a critical element in the smart cities of the future. In view of the main features of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), such as automatic piloting system, access to uninhabited areas, low cost compared to road and manned aircraft, shorter delivery time, and the ability to carry heavy payloads, it is important to recognize that UAVs can be used for a wide range of civil activities. The internet became a common communication platform for many people. However, information transmission is not secure, and there is a high probability of copying and altering the information easily. In the public network, transmitting sensitive or private information needs some kind of protection. Unless a secure channel is utilized for the transmission. Hiding the information is one of the efficient techniques that provides a solution for transmitting confidential data over communication channels. These techniques should meet various application requirements such as high robustness against attacks, real-time, and high hiding capacity. Generally, information-hiding techniques suffer from many challenges. This paper provides an insight into these techniques, their applications, and challenges to fill the gap of missing such an overview.

Greenhouse farming plays a significant role in the agricultural industry because of its controlled climatic features. Recent examinations have stated that the mean creation of the yields under greenhouses is lessening due to disease events in the plants. These foods have become an imposing undertaking because these plants are being assaulted by different bacterial diseases, micro-organisms, and pests. The chemicals are applied to the plants intermittently without thinking about the necessity of each plant. Several problems have occurred in the greenhouse environment due to these causes. Therefore, there is a huge necessity for a system to detect diseases at an early stage. This research focused on designing a system to detect disease, which causes yellowish in greenhouse plants. Plant yellowing can be considered a significant problem of plants that grow under greenhouse-controlled environments. Through this research is focused on the most important and one of the most attention-grabbing crop tomato. There are specific diseases that cause yellowish the tomato plant, and they have been identified. The techniques utilized for early recognition of infection are image processing, machine learning, and deep learning. Internet of Things (IoT) has made it possible to diagnose and treat patients remotely, as well as to expedite the transportation of essential drugs and medical equipment to locations that are geographically separated. This has occurred at a time when society has become more socially distant. During the Ebola and COVID-19 outbreaks, the Internet of Things (IoT) technology was put to use in remote patient monitoring and the management of the vaccine cold chain. Concurrently, this study reflects on the variables that are required for IoT to scale. Since December 2019, the COVID-19 outbreak on a worldwide scale has developed into a significant problem. In order for medical treatment to be successful, it is essential to make a prompt and accurate diagnosis of persons who may be infected with the COVID-19 virus. In order to put a halt to the spread of COVID-19, it is important to construct an automated system that is based on deep transfer learning and is capable of detecting the virus based on chest X-rays. The authors of this study present an internet-of-things (IoT) system that makes use of ensemble deep transfer learning to diagnose COVID-19 patients at an earlier stage. It is feasible to keep an eye on potentially hazardous COVID-19 incidents as they occur so long as suitable procedures are adhered to. Inceptions A variety of different deep learning models are included into the framework that has been proposed for the Internet of Things. According to the findings of the study, the method that was suggested assisted radiologists in accurately and quickly identifying patients who could have COVID-19. The proposed effort focuses on developing an effective identification system based on the COVID-19 standard for use in an IoT setting. © 2022 IEEE.
