Fifth-generation (5G) networks are prone to jamming attacks, which are particularly dangerous in mission-critical applications such as factory automation. In this paper, we present a simple method to detect jamming attacks with machine learning techniques operating on in-phase and quadrature (IQ) modulated signals. In particular, a convolutional autoencoder (CAE) learns the structure of the clean signal to distinguish it from jammed signals in real time. This approach requires only a loose synchronization to the OFDM symbol, while equalization and decoding are not necessary. Despite its simplicity, our technique has shown high detection rates in experiments on a 5G testbed. © 2023 IEEE.

In the wake of the outbreak of the new coronavirus, the countries in the world have fought to combat the spread of infection and imposed preventive measures to compel the population to social distancing, which led to a global crisis. Important strategies must be studied and identified to prevent and control the spread of coronavirus COVID-19 disease 2019. In this paper, the effect of preventive strategies on COVID-19 spread was studied, a model based on supervised data mining algorithms was presented and the best algorithm was suggested on the basis of accuracy. In this model, three classifiers (Naive Bayes, Multilayer Perceptron and J48) dep.nded on the questionnaires filled out by Basra City respondents. The questionnaires consisted of 25 questions that covered fields most related to and that affect the prevention of COVID-19 spread, including demographic, psychological, health management, cognitive, awareness and preventive factors. A total of 1017 respondents were collected. This model was developed using Weka 3.8 tool. Results showed that quarantine played an important role in controlling the spread of the disease. By comparing the accuracy of the algorithms used, the best algorithm was found to be J48. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

We study the problem of finding the optimal connection between two disconnected vertex-weighted trees. We are given a distance function on the vertices and seek to minimize the routing cost of the tree resulting from adding one single edge between the two trees. The routing cost is defined as the sum of the weighted distances between all pairs of vertices in the induced tree-metric. The problem arises when augmenting and/or repairing communication networks or infrastructure networks. We present an asymptotically optimal quadratic-time algorithm for the general case and show that the problem can be solved more efficiently for the Euclidean metric, when vertices are mapped to points in the plane, as well as for compactly representable graph metrics.

We consider a framework for bi-objective network construction problems where one objective is to be maximized while the other is to be minimized. Given a host graph G = (V,E) with edge weights we ∈ and edge lengths e ∈ for e ∈ E we define the density of a pattern subgraph H = (V′,E′) ⊆ G as the ρ(H) = ∑eΕE′we/∑eΕE′ e ratio . We consider the problem of computing a maximum density pattern H with weight at least W and and length at most L in a host G. We consider this problem for different classes of hosts and patterns. We show that it is NP-hard even if the host has treewidth 2 and the pattern is a path. However, it can be solved in pseudo-polynomial linear time if the host has bounded treewidth and the pattern is a graph from a given minor-closed family of graphs. Finally, we present an FPTAS for a relaxation of the density maximization problem, in which we are allowed to violate the upper bound on the length at the cost of some penalty. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

Ground anchoring is a popular method to stabilize the slope. It is essential for stability evaluation to measure the tension value of anchor from installed load cell. In this paper, a wireless anchor load measuring system is proposed for continuously on-site slope stability monitoring. Each anchor load cell is connected to a MCU-based acquisition unit and become a wireless IoT end-device. This system is scalable so the sensor dep.oyment will be much more flexible than that in conventional data acquisition system. The excitation circuit, signal amplification and analog-to-digital conversion are completed by a small-size device next to the anchor so that very low-noise result can be obtained. Each measurement consumes less than 10mA•s so this device can be drive only by a 55mm∗70mm∗40mm solar power module. Verified by almost 3-year's on-site test, it is confirmed the proposed monitoring system can continuously capture and send one measurement per minute to the cloud server without any other electric power. The experimental and on-site test results show the practicability of proposed system and its reliability of long-term measurement. It has very high application potential on real-time slope stability monitoring by collecting and analyzing the load values of all installed anchors. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In this paper, we propose a method of eye detection based on skin color analysis under varying illumination. The proposed method consists of several phases, including color conversion, skin color segmentation and face mask calculation, facial feature extraction and eye candidate determination, and detection of human eyes. To eliminate the effect of lighting change on the performance of eye detection, color conversion is first performed. Face mask calculation based on skin color segmentation is then carried out to reduce the possible searching region of human eyes. Eye candidates detected using facial features are used to define the possible human eyes. Human eyes are thus detected by the geometric features of gravity and spatial centers for these eye candidates. Results show that the proposed method works well for faces with different poses and multiple faces under varying illumination. The eye detection time of 21.8 ms is achieved for an image of size 213×320 pixels, indicating computational efficiency of the proposed system. © 2011 IEEE.

The mobile devices have grown rapidly with the progresses of information technology those years. The mobile devices, such as i-Phone, i-Pad, Tablet PC and smart-phone, have become personal and business tools. Those devices are specially developed for mobile users on the basis of the conceptual design of personal digital assistant (PDA) long time ago, but the scopes of the usages extend much more extensive through integrated multimedia needs. This paper proposes a model called integrated usability model (IUM), derived from the technology acceptance model (TAM), to transfer the design criteria into the design guidelines. By using IUM, the developers for multimedia mobile device can use the conceptual indicators like mobile, integration and convenience to reduce the large-scale design factors and evaluate the capability and acceptance for the users. It turns out that the developers can speed up the design processes and avoid the repeated and time-consuming reworks. A mobile multimedia device development for the integrated graphic hand-sketch tablet is presented in this paper. This development uses IUM to reduce the design criteria and then transfer the result criteria into design guidelines. This paper demonstrates the practices of the multi-demand product design as the case validation of IUM. © 2011 IEEE.

With the growth of broadband networks, Video-on-Demand (VoD) has become realistic. Many significant broadcasting schemes have been proposed to reduce the viewers' waiting time. However, clients are required to receive video segments altogether from all channels. This disregard incurs more buffer requirements. To escape from this constraint, we propose a novel interleaving staircase-harmonic broadcasting (ISHB) scheme, which focuses on buffer saving, and the viewers' waiting time approaches to theoretical lower bound. Furthermore, the scheme uses the interleaving technology to mitigate the effect of packet losses. Given a fixed bandwidth, the ISHB scheme buffers only 25% of a playing video. In comparison with the fast broadcasting (FB), recursive frequency-splitting (RFS) and interleaving harmonic broadcasting (IHB) schemes, the ISHB scheme saves the buffer requirements by 50%, 33% and 33%. © 2004 IEEE.

3D digital reconstruction techniques are extensively used for quality control purposes. Among them, photogrammetry and photometric stereo methods have been for a long time used with success in several application fields. However, generating highly-detailed and reliable micro-measurements of non-collaborative surfaces is still an open issue. In these cases, photogrammetry can provide accurate low-frequency 3D information, whereas it struggles to extract reliable high-frequency details. Conversely, photometric stereo can recover a very detailed surface topography, although global surface deformation is often present. In this paper, we present the preliminary results of an ongoing project aiming to combine photogrammetry and photometric stereo in a synergetic fusion of the two techniques. Particularly, hereafter, we introduce the main concept design behind an image acquisition system we developed to capture images from different positions and under different lighting conditions as required by photogrammetry and photometric stereo techniques. We show the benefit of such a combination through some experimental tests. The experiments showed that the proposed method recovers the surface topography at the same high-resolution achievable with photometric stereo while preserving the photogrammetric accuracy. Furthermore, we exploit light directionality and multiple light sources to improve the quality of dense image matching in poorly textured surfaces. © 2021 International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial information sciences - ISPRS Archives. This work is focused on the controller chip design/implementation of serial-parallel-switched-capacitor coupled-inductor (SPSCCI) inverter applied to high-gain boost DC-AC conversion. The controlled plant is its power part made up of SPSCCI booster and DC-link inverter to perform a practical DC-AC conversion from 12V to 110VRMS, 60Hz. Here, for achieving this goal, the controller is its control part constructed by sinusoidal pulse-width-modulation (SPWM) compensator plus phase generator, and then is implemented under Cadence full-custom design through pre-layout simulation (PRE-SIM) and post-layout simulation (POST-SIM) on a fabricated chip of integrated circuit: no. D35-105B-E0008, TSMC $0.35\mu \mathrm{m}$ 2P4M, $1500\times 1500\mu \mathrm{m}^{2}$, 5.0V, 2.68mW, max frequency 200kHz. Finally, with the help of this controller chip, a closed-loop prototype circuit of this SPSCCI can be realized and verified experimentally for some test cases of DC-AC to validate the feasibility of this inverter. © 2020 IEEE.
