This research explores the use of haptic technology in heavy vehicle driving safety, focusing on its potential to enhance driver assistance systems and improve driving experience. The study addresses driver-induced causes of traffic accidents, including drivers' inability to see around the vehicle due to its length and height. The proposed system provides 360-degree cognitive awareness through haptic feedback, which can improve road safety and mitigate challenges in diverse driving conditions. By using haptic feedback, the driver will be able to get a tangible sense of the presence of objects surrounding the vehicle. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature and experimental studies, the research demonstrates the potential of haptic feedback in revolutionizing the driving experience. The findings highlight the optimum mapping between sensors and vibration motors positions on the human body © 2025 IEEE.

Clean air is a fundamental requirement for the proper functioning of the human body. Increasing population, urbanization and industrialization has led to a stark degradation in air quality. Bad air quality has severe effects on humans, wildlife, vegetation and man-made architectures. Hence, forecasting future air quality and monitoring current air quality is of utmost importance. This paper presents a comparative analysis of various machine learning techniques for air quality forecasting and an analysis of various sensors for air quality monitoring. In addition, a sensing architecture for monitoring air pollutant concentration on a wide scale has been delineated. This work would help in detecting the factors involved in degradation of air and plan measures to improve the air quality.

Efficient vehicle tracking in urban environments is crucial for intelligent transportation systems but faces challenges such as nonlinear motion, dynamic backgrounds, and frequent occlusions. To address these complexities, we propose the AM-Vehicle-Track system, designed under the tracking-by-detection paradigm. This system integrates the Lightweight Convolutional Block Attention Module (LCBAM), which enhances detection accuracy by refining feature maps through channel-wise and spatial attention, and the Noise-Adaptive Extended Kalman Filter (NSA-EKF), which dynamically adjusts observation noise based on detection confidence to handle nonlinear vehicle motion. Additionally, the Byte data association technique is employed to mitigate issues with low-confidence detections and reduce identity switches. Tested on the challenging VisDrone-MOT dataset, AM-Vehicle-Track achieves a mean object tracking accuracy (MOTA) of 42.2%, an identity F1 score (IDF1) of 51.2%, and processes at 72 frames per second (FPS), outperforming existing state-of-the-art systems. These results highlight its robustness and efficiency in real-time scenarios, making it suitable for intelligent transportation applications. By significantly improving detection accuracy, tracking precision, and scalability, AM-Vehicle-Track establishes a new benchmark in multi-object tracking technologies and demonstrates its potential to enhance the reliability and efficiency of vehicle tracking in complex urban environments. © 2025 IEEE.

Cryptography is an essential tool in ensuring the security of data during network communication. Network and service providers prioritize data security to ensure secure data exchanges. Ethiopic cryptography is a unique encryption method that utilizes the Amharic language, prevalent in Ethiopia. Unlike Latin alphabets, Amharic consists of 287 characters, making decryption challenging. The encryption process involves converting the text to Amharic and then mapping it to a pair of randomly chosen two-bit English alphabets, creating an intermediate cipher. The Ethiopic cryptography algorithm employs a hybrid approach, using the RSA algorithm for secure key exchange and the Advanced Encryption Standard algorithm for text confidentiality. The algorithm comprises three phases—translation, mapping, and encryption—contributing to its effectiveness in securing data over the network. Decryption requires familiarity with the Amharic language and mapping details. The algorithm demonstrates a stronger avalanche effect (97%) in comparison with Blowfish and DES. The algorithm is proposed and evaluated using the design science research methodology, and its performance is validated through simulation using MATLAB and BunnaScript tools, considering factors like the avalanche effect, time complexity, and memory consumption. The evaluation shows that the suggested solution operates faster, requires lesser time for data encryption, and uses less memory than other methods in use. Overall, the proposed Ethiopic cryptography algorithm proves to be an efficient and effective method for securing data during network communication, offering stronger text confidentiality and an improved avalanche effect. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

With the advent of bioinformatics, cancer research has entered a new age wherein vast amounts of complex biological data can be interpreted to create powerful treatments. This approach has exceptionally improved the identification of biomarkers, deciphering hidden patterns contained within data, and developing personalized treatment modalities by incorporating bioinformatics-based strategies with artificial intelligence and machine learning. Advances in bioinformatics will soon give insight into the cancer process at cellular levels and offer a better understanding of tumor heterogeneity and evolution. Increased reliance on bioinformatics has directly affected the development of newer immunotherapy forms. In the last year, there have been 13 new FDA-approved immunotherapy treatments for 10 different drugs and 11 types of cancers specific to each one. The future of bioinformatics in cancer research is bright, and the field is likely to be further revolutionized with the continued progress in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and single-cell analysis techniques © 2025 IEEE.

This article presents a method for indirectly measuring the moisture content of paddy using a cylindrical capacitive sensor combined with Charge Integrator Circuits. The moisture measurement device operates based on the principle of the dielectric constant of paddy, which changes according to the moisture content within them. The system consists of a moisture detection section utilizing a cylindrical capacitor, a signal generator operating at a frequency of 500 Hz with a microcontroller, a signal conditioning circuit converting the signal to voltage, and a processing unit. Testing was conducted with paddy at five different moisture levels, demonstrating the ability to accurately determine the moisture content of the rice. When compared to the commercially available PM-450TH moisture meter, the results showed a linear response across the measurement range, with an R 2 value of 0.9824 and an average error of 2.6%. This technology has the potential for further development and application to other types of seeds in the future.

Techniques for coordination of multi-agent systems are vast and varied, often utilizing purpose-built solvers or controllers with tight coupling to the types of systems involved or the coordination goal. In this paper, we introduce a general unified framework for heterogeneous multi-agent coordination using the language of cellular sheaves and nonlinear sheaf Laplacians, which are generalizations of graphs and graph Laplacians. Specifically, we introduce the concept of a nonlinear homological program encompassing a choice of cellular sheaf on an undirected graph, nonlinear edge potential functions, and constrained convex node objectives, which constitutes a standard form for a wide class of coordination problems. We use the alternating direction method of multipliers to derive a distributed optimization algorithm for solving these nonlinear homological programs. To demonstrate the applicability of this framework, we show how heterogeneous coordination goals including combinations of consensus, formation, and flocking can be formulated as nonlinear homological programs and provide numerical simulations showing the efficacy of our distributed solution *** Codes 93A16, 93B45, 55N30 © 2025, CC BY.

Despite the omnipresent use of stochastic gradient descent (SGD) optimization methods in the training of deep neural networks (DNNs), it remains, in basically all practically relevant scenarios, a fundamental open problem to provide a rigorous theoretical explanation for the success (and the limitations) of SGD optimization methods in deep learning. In particular, it remains an open question to prove or disprove convergence of the true risk of SGD optimization methods to the optimal true risk value in the training of DNNs. In one of the main results of this work we reveal for a general class of activations, loss functions, random initializations, and SGD optimization methods (including, for example, standard SGD, momentum SGD, Nesterov accelerated SGD, Adagrad, RMSprop, Adadelta, Adam, Adamax, Nadam, Nadamax, and AMSGrad) that in the training of any arbitrary fully-connected feedforward DNN it does not hold that the true risk of the considered optimizer converges in probability to the optimal true risk value.
