Techniques for coordination of multi-agent systems are vast and varied, often utilizing purpose-built solvers or controllers with tight coupling to the types of systems involved or the coordination goal. In this paper, we introduce a general unified framework for heterogeneous multi-agent coordination using the language of cellular sheaves and nonlinear sheaf Laplacians, which are generalizations of graphs and graph Laplacians. Specifically, we introduce the concept of a nonlinear homological program encompassing a choice of cellular sheaf on an undirected graph, nonlinear edge potential functions, and constrained convex node objectives, which constitutes a standard form for a wide class of coordination problems. We use the alternating direction method of multipliers to derive a distributed optimization algorithm for solving these nonlinear homological programs. To demonstrate the applicability of this framework, we show how heterogeneous coordination goals including combinations of consensus, formation, and flocking can be formulated as nonlinear homological programs and provide numerical simulations showing the efficacy of our distributed solution *** Codes 93A16, 93B45, 55N30 © 2025, CC BY.

Ternary logic system can transfer more data as compare to binary logic in a digital system. This paper presents performance analysis of various existing energy-efficient designs for standard ternary Inverter (STI) logic gates. The circuits of various STIs have been designed using CNTFET technology. Simulations have been performed using the Synopsys HSPICE tool with a 32 nm CNTFET model, provided by Stanford University. Average power consumption and propagation delays have been calculated for each design, and values of PDP have been computed.

Detection of In-Plane Magnetized Grains with a Magnetoresistive Head

MgO is an important component in heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) media, serving as an excellent seed layer for perpendicular orientation of FePt grains. However, it is difficult to detect the in-plane magnetic grains caused by the MgO boundaries. This work uses micromagnetic simulation to study the detection of longitudinally magnetized grains in FePt-based HAMR media using a novel 45° magnetoresistive (MR) read head design. By leveraging the reduced in-plane anisotropy of FePt grains and the magnetostatic field generated by adjacent tracks, an asymmetric magnetization distribution is induced along the cross-track direction. This asymmetry facilitates the detection of in-plane magnetization components using playback signals obtained from micromagnetic simulations. The proposed method effectively identifies noise sources, thus providing a cost-efficient alternative to other experimental techniques. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

In this paper,we determine the delay-dependent conditions of global asymptotic stability for a class of multi-dimensional nonlinear time-delay systems with application to computer communication networks. A nonlinear delayed model is considered for a rate-based congestion control system of a heterogeneous network with arbitrary topology and time-varying delays. We propose a Lyapunov-based method to obtain a sufficient condition under which global asymptotic stability of the equilibrium is guaranteed. The main contribution of the paper lies in considering time variations of delays in a heterogeneous network which may be applicable in actual networks. Moreover,we obtain conditions for Internet-style networks with multi-source multi-link topology. We first prove the stability for a class of nonlinear time-delay systems. Then,we apply the results to a Kelly's rate-based ap-proximation of the congestion control system.

Multi-scale image processing techniques enable extraction of features where the size of a feature is either unknown or changing, but the requirement to process image data at multiple scale levels imposes a substantial computational load. This paper describes the architecture and emerging results from the implementation of a GPGPU-accelerated scale-space feature detection framework for video processing. A discrete scale-space representation is generated for image frames within a video stream, and multi-scale feature detection metrics are applied to detect ridges and Gaussian blobs at video frame rates. A modular structure is adopted, in which common feature extraction tasks such as non-maximum suppression and local extrema search may be reused across a variety of feature detectors. Extraction of ridge and blob features is achieved at faster than 15 frames per second on video sequences from a machine vision system, utilizing an NVIDIA GTX 480 graphics card. By design, the framework is easily extended to additional feature classes through the inclusion of feature metrics to be applied to the scale-space representation, and using common post-processing modules to reduce the required CPU workload. The framework is scalable across multiple and more capable GPUs, and enables previously intractable image processing at video frame rates using commodity computational hardware. © 2010 IOP Publishing Ltd.

Kernel descriptors consist in finite-dimensional vectors ex- tracted from image patches and designed in such a way that the dot product approximates a nonlinear kernel, whose pro- jection feature space would be high-dimensional. Recently, they have been successfully used for fine-gradined object recogntion, and in this work we study the application of two such descriptors, called EMK and KDES (respectively de- signed as a kernelized generalization of the common bag-of- words and histogram-of-gradient approaches) to the MAED 2014 Fish Classification task, consisting of about 50,000 un- derwater images from 10 fish species. This paper describes a strategy to reduce the size of submodule capacitors of a 1 MVA, 0-1 kHz, 7-level modular multilevel converter (MMC) based medium voltage variable speed drive (MVVSD) using 1.7 kV SiC MOSFETs. Hardware designs of submodules to withstand high dv/dt and capacitor selection based on common mode voltage injection have been presented in literature. The issue with injection is the error in tracking of injected circulation current which results in fundamental frequency fluctuations in the submodule capacitor voltage. This paper presents a strategy for higher frequency sinusoidal common mode voltage based on more accurate tracking of the circulating current;realized through an improved control strategy combined with a higher switching frequency. Using the methods presented in this paper, a smaller submodule capacitance and reduced output current THD of the motor drive is achieved. A loss analysis model is proposed to evaluate the effect of the proposed strategy on the MMC efficiency. This helps balance the reduction in the capacitor against the increase in the losses as a result of increased switching frequency. Simulations and a down-scaled experimental setup are used to demonstrate this concept. © VDE VERLAG GMBH · Berlin · Offenbach.

The demand for computing is projected to grow rapidly over the next decade. At the same time, technology companies have pledged to reduce carbon emissions associated with the electricity generation needed to meet this computing demand. To achieve this goal, data centers need to be sited at locations with access to low carbon electricity while continuing to meet transmission limits within the electric grid. In this paper, we present a model that determines the optimal placement of future data centers that accounts for the underlying power system dynamics. This model utilizes a bilevel program where the lowerlevel problem calculates the electricity dispatch of the entire electric power network by solving a DC OPF and the upperlevel problem identifies data center locations that minimize the carbon emissions of this dispatch. We test this model under a variety of operating conditions and show that to minimize carbon emissions from new data center loads, it is not enough to place new data centers near renewable generation sources. Instead one needs to consider grid operations and limits. © 2022 IEEE.

This research proposes a bridgeless rectification circuit for impedance matching and voltage boosting of a Wi-Fi energy harvesting system. The impedance matching is achieved by an LCL T-network in parallel with an inductive branch, and such an arrangement can boost the voltage by combined effect of T-network and bipolarity charging of the output capacitor. The return loss equation and an estimated value of matching circuit parameters are obtained analytically. There are six different modes for the voltage boosting process at two different input cycles. The power converting process is modeled, analyzed, and relevant equations are derived. For the simulation study, the input port of the proposed circuit is designed using a co-planar waveguide arrangement with the input impedance of 52.5Ω. High power efficiency and low return loss at 2.45 GHz are presented by proper circuit analysis and design. Practical measurement results based on an AC power source with an output impedance of 50Ω also verified that the proposed circuit could function as an impedance matching and voltage boosting converter circuit. With the aid of two additional low-voltage boost modules connected at the output of the proposed circuit as loads. It has demonstrated that the output voltage of the final energy buffering supercapacitor can be approximately maintained around 3V for about an hour when the input power of the AC source is set at -30dBm (1uW). © 2015 IEEE.
