Disturbance attenuation problem in terms of L2-gain for continuous linear time-delay (LTD) systems with nonzero initial conditions, time-varying delays and saturating control is addressed where the disturbances acting on the system are with bounded energy. First, a group of sufficient conditions in terms of bilinear matrix inequalities (BMIs) are obtained. Then, to solve this problem, cone complementary linearization method is adopted to the problem. The proposed method utilizes convex description of nonlinear saturation phenomenon by means of convex hull of some linear feedback which leads to a few additional ellipsoidal conditions in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The validity of the method is illustrated through some examples at the end. © 2010 IEEE.

Without a safety and secure Power System, a state cannot function by the fact that all public systems are interdependent and dependent of electricity. This Power System is composed of several critical power infrastructures of major importance without which the economy and industry of any state in the world could not function. The access to electricity that is created by these critical infrastructures is a common right of every citizen (according with The United Nation 21 Agenda 1992 stated that 'energy is essential for economical and social development and the improvement of quality of life') and it empowers all citizens of a state to find technical and social solutions in times of peace, but also in times of crisis or war, to prevent, correct or managing a blackout. In every state around the world, the Power System is the most important and complex system in that it provides and facilitates critical, domestic and industrial consumers the electricity needed to have a normal life in safety and security. Every Power System is in total interdependence with other systems: food system, water supply system, transport system, health system, financial system, commercial system, administrative system, communication system-information, etc. Through this paper, the authors aimed to take a look at the history, causes and effects of some of the most devastating blackouts that occurred nationally and worldwide between 1977-2018. © 2024 IEEE.

Argument labeling of explicit discourse relations is a challenging task. The state of the art systems achieve slightly above 55% F-measure but require hand-crafted features. In this paper, we propose a Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) based model for argument labeling. We experimented with multiple configurations of our model. Using the PDTB dataset, our best model achieved an Fl measure of 23.05% without any feature engineering. This is significantly higher than the 20.52% achieved by the state of the art RNN approach, but significantly lower than the feature based state of the art systems. On the other hand, because our approach learns only from the raw dataset, it is more widely applicable to multiple textual genres and languages. © 2018 Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL). The computing field has a low level of gender diver-sity, being predominantly male. This diversity gap is reflected at different academic levels, ranging from undergraduate degrees to master's and doctoral qualifications. As in other parts of the world, the University of Brasilia, one of the top 10 universities in Brazil, has a low rate of women in Computing in its graduate programs. According to data from CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel in Brazil), the computing area is one of the areas of Exact sciences with the lowest number of women proportionally in Brazil. In this context, this paper aims to present an analysis of the number of publications and scientific collaborations related to the gender of researchers in the Graduate Program in Informatics (PPG I) at the University of Brasilia. To develop this research, technologies such as scraping were used to collect data from the program's professors, articles published (only full papers in conferences and academic journals) by them and names of the people who collaborated in the preparation of the articles, a database graph-based noSQL was used to generate the relationship networks. A relationship network was created, in which it was possible to analyze the relationship level of each professor in the program. As initial results, the average number of articles published is the same by gender, we did not find significant differences in the number of publications between men and women. In the study we only counted the number of publications, we did not analyze the impact of the publications. Regarding collaborations, initial results indicate that women are more collaborative than men in the program, with a higher degree of collaboration than the average for male researchers. In recent times, smartphones can be said to have become a necessity for users. From children to old age, everyone knows what a Smartphone is. The smartphone has various uses according to its users and is equipped with hardware with various sensors. The sensors that each smartphone owns also vary depending on the original factory. Some of the sensors owned by smartphones have beneficial uses; for example, magnetometer sensors do use to determine the wind direction. Then there is the Accelerometer and Gyroscope sensor, which will form an orientation sensor to discover the changes the smartphone feels at an angle, which developed in an application. This study emphasizes the value of the Pitch, Roll, Azimuth, and Angle sensors, which will form a graph according to the behavior of the smartphone. The overall experimental outcomes were obtained by conducting a comprehensive comparison against applications available on the Play Store, ensuring that the margin of error remained below 5 degrees. The orientation sensor is intended to get the value of the attitude change by the smartphone, whose value will then form a graph in real-time. The values preserved results will storing in the Cloud Firebase.

SpaceFOM is the reference standard adopted by space agencies for simulating space missions. Although specifically designed for handling space systems, it currently faces a significant limitation when simulating interplanetary missions: a fixed Federation Time Step. This constraint hinders accurate and flexible modeling of space missions, which limits the dynamic changes of simulation pace, especially during critical phases that require particular temporal granularities. This work proposes extending the SpaceFOM standard to address this issue by enabling dynamic adjustment of Federation Time Step granularity. The proposed solution allows fine-grained time steps for mission-critical phases and coarse-grained steps for extended phases while smoothly combining continuous temporal progression. Furthermore, the proposed solution is general-purpose and can be applied to other domains requiring dynamic temporal granularity.

Ubiquitous knowledge discovery systems must be captured from many different perspectives. In earlier chapters, aspects like machine learning, underlying network technologies etc. were described. An essential component, which we shall discuss now, is still missing: Ubiquitous Data. While data themselves are a central part of the knowledge discovery process, in a ubiquitous setting new challenges arise. In this context, the emergence of data itself plays a large role, therefore we label this part of KDubiq systems ubiquitous data. It clarifies the KDubiq challenges related to the multitude of available data and what we must do before we can tap into this rich information source. © 2010 Springer-Verlag.

In this paper, we will propose the T-S fuzzy controller design for a class of networked control system (NCS) with the network transmission delay and the data packet dropout. In the NCS, the controlled plant is approximated to the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model (T-S fuzzy model). Then, we propose the fuzzy controller design based on the T-S fuzzy model, to inhibit the effect of the network transmission delay and the data packet dropout, and to guarantee the stability of the overall system. Next, we analyze the stability and the robustness of the overall system by the Lyapunov-Krasovskii function and the Lyapunov stability theorem, and obtain the Lyapunov stability criterion. After that, the Lyapunov stability criterion would be presented in the linear matrix inequality format to solve the control problem more efficiently by using the Schur complements. Finally, the computer simulations are given to demonstrate the validity and the performance of the proposed control strategy.

Recent advances in Neural Radiance Field (NeRF)-based methods have enabled high-fidelity novel view synthesis for video with dynamic elements. However, these methods often require expensive hardware, take days to process a second-long video and do not scale well to longer videos. We create an end-to-end pipeline for creating dynamic 3D video from a monocular video that can be run on consumer hardware in minutes per second of footage, not days. Our pipeline handles the estimation of the camera parameters, depth maps, 3D reconstruction of dynamic foreground and static background elements, and the rendering of the 3D video on a computer or VR headset. We use a state-of-the-art visual transformer model to estimate depth maps which we use to scale COLMAP poses and enable RGB-D fusion with estimated depth data. In our preliminary experiments, we rendered the output in a VR headset and visually compared the method against ground-truth datasets and state-of-the-art NeRF-based methods.
