Manufacturing efficiency and transport operations are being significantly improved by mobile robots. As the implementation of a configurable, lightweight, and stateof-the-art robotic system is required for current manufacturing sectors to maximize the use of mobile robots, this paper presents a software architecture comprised of perception and action systems for human following in real time. The perception system uses the YOLOv8 computer vision model to identify and estimate human pose. Additionally, an algorithm is developed using the 3D information from a stereo camera to determine which target and whether to follow. Once the perception system perceives the desired target information, the action system can control and coordinate the robot using the ROS. Experimental results from the physical robot demonstrate the feasibility of the system architecture. © 2024 IEEE.

The maturity of 5G technology has enabled crowd-sensing services to collect multimedia data over wireless network,so it has promoted the applications of crowd-sensing services in different fields,but also brings more privacy security challenges,the most commom which is privacy *** a privacy protection technology combining data integrity check and identity anonymity,ring signature is widely used in the field of privacy ***,introducing signature technology leads to additional signature verification *** the scenario of crowd-sensing,the existing signature schemes have low efficiency in multi-signature ***,it is necessary to design an efficient multi-signature verification scheme while ensuring *** this paper,a batch-verifiable signature scheme is proposed based on the crowd-sensing background,which supports the sensing platform to verify the uploaded multiple signature data efficiently,so as to overcoming the defects of the traditional signature scheme in multi-signature *** our proposal,a method for linking homologous data was presented,which was valuable for incentive mechanism and data *** results showed that the proposed scheme has good performance in terms of security and efficiency in crowd-sensing applications with a large number of users and data.

Machine Learning-Based Calibration Approaches for Single-Beam and Multiple-Beam Distance Sensors

Sensors are the foundation to facilitate smart cities, smart grids, and smart transportation, and distance sensors are especially important for sensing the environment and gathering information. Researchers have developed various methods to calibrate distance sensors;however, they mainly focus on using external information for calibration, which is inefficient and computationally expensive. To alleviate the above problems, we propose machine learning (ML)-based calibration approaches for distance sensors. We develop two calibration mechanisms, where the naive mechanism directly predicts the true distance, while the residual mechanism predicts the residual for calibration. The conventional ML regression algorithms are then adopted to predict the true distance or calibration residual. Experimental results show that the designed residual calibration mechanism outperforms the naive mechanism by reducing the root mean square error (RMSE) by 92.2% and mean absolute error (MAE) by 93.3% in the fitting task. In prediction, the proposed 2-D-residual mechanism achieves an improvement of 78.6% and 65.7% compared to the state-of-the-art method. The experimental results show the effectiveness and generalization of the proposed ML-based calibration method, especially for the 2-D mechanism, which achieves the highest robustness in all fitting and prediction tasks. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

The hand-eye calibration problem represents a major challenge in robotics, arising from the widespread usage of robotic systems along with robot-mounted sensors. Briefly, consisting of estimating the position and orientation of a visual sensor (usually a camera attached to the robot’s end-effector) with respect to the robot itself, calibration is critical in tracking rigid bodies—a common task within mixed reality applications. Hand-eye calibration implies solving the problem formulated as AX = XB or AX = YB equations. The solution lies in computing the unknown homogeneous transformation matrices X and Y, given the A and B parameterizations of rigid body motions. We present the dual vectors based approaches for AX = XB and AX = YB calibration problems, making use of the isomorphism between the special Euclidean group and the orthogonal dual tensor group. Comparisons with state-of-the-art algorithms are used to assess our obtained results. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

This article presents a modernization project for the laboratory stand of the marine propeller layout. It was necessary to implement a modern digital control system for the layout of a marine propeller with a unified element base as part of the university curriculum of automatic control. The outdated training stand was supplemented with some sensors and automatic control algorithms to create feedback in the control circuit. Paper describes a functional scheme and develops software of electronic control circuit as well as possible modifications. © 2023 IEEE.

In 2017 the Russian government approved a programme, Russian Federation Digital Economy, the main goal of which is to create an ecosystem with large scale use of digital format data in all fields of social and economic activity [1]. The electric power industry is being transformed in accordance with the concept, Digital Transformation 2030, developed by Russian Power Grids PLC [2]. Pursuant to this concept, electric substations under construction should be digital. At present, Russia has a number of operating digital substations (DSS) (Medvedevskaya SS, UVAT SS, Desna SS, Tobol SS [3]-[5], while many DSSs are at the design or construction stage. The creation of new substations, and also reconstruction of already operating ones, requires solving the problems of operating conventional electromagnetic current and voltage transformers. Electromagnetic voltage transformers (VT) are energy-inefficient, explosion - and flammability- hazardous equipment (due to their requiring additional charging with low consumption by micro-processing devices), with large weight and dimensions (an NKF-100 type transformer weighing 840 kg). © 2024 IEEE.

The numerous toolboxes within MATLAB [12] to aid student engagement and learning largely require deep understanding of coding, as well as the associated engineering. This paper discusses some work in progress which is focussing on developing files and resources for a control 101 course [17] which are both engaging and also have much lower pedestals of understanding before use. The intention is focus on attracting student interest and communicating core concepts before students need to begin the longer process of deep learning. Thus this toolbox fills a large gap in the current provision. © 2023 IEEE.

This Radio Frequency (RF) source location estimation scheme utilizes angles of arrival of a signal source acquired from the Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) algorithm. In reliance on that as a Maximum Likelihood estimation, the obtained angles are augmented to an adaptive probability distribution function (PDF), which is then employed to estimate the location of the RF emitter by feeding the PDF to an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). Numerous use cases and theoretical works have been presented in the literature. Some of these papers mention applications regarding implementing DoA algorithms in dynamic platforms like in [9], [10], [11], [12], and [13] mostly all of them use Uniform Linear Array (ULA), four of them working with Estimation of Signal Parameters via Rotational Invariance Technique (ESPRIT), and one with MUSIC Direction of Arrival (DoA) method. In [14], MUSIC was used with a Uniform Circular Array (UCA). However, less coupling has been incorporated with the covariance of measurement error. In this paper, the dynamic 2D DoA MUSIC algorithm used in a platform, applied together with an EKF estimation and coupled with measurement covariance in a simulation environment to precisely locate an RF emitter and provide high-resolution Line-of-Sight (LOS). © 2024 IEEE.

The AC-DC Energy Nodes (ADENs) concept offers a transformative approach to modernizing power grids, particularly in the context of supergrids. By centralizing power flows from diverse renewable energy sources, such as offshore wind farms, ADENs enable efficient long-distance power transmission through HVDC technology. This design enhances the balance of supply and demand across regions and countries, significantly improving grid stability and resilience. However, the implementation of ADENs presents substantial technical, regulatory, and cybersecurity challenges.
