In this paper, a low power and fast DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) using multiplier-less method is presented with a new modified FGA (Flow-Graph Algorithm), which is derived from our previously presented FGA of DCT based on Loeffler algorithm. The multiplier-less method is based on the replacement of multiplications with a minimum number of additions and shifts. The proposed FGA is performed and compared to a previous one. The results of FPGA implementations on Altera Cyclone II show the increase of the maximum frequency, the decrease of the resources usage and the reduction of the dynamic power by 7.2 % at 120 MHz of clock frequency with a new proposed FGA algorithm. Another comparison with recent published results has been done and proves the efficiency of the proposed FGA.

Actuators based on magnetorheological fluids represent an innovative technology to optimize brakes and clutches. Compared to conventional electromechanical systems, MRF actuators show improved and advanced characteristics featuring a smooth adjustable torque, a fast response time, a noiseless operation and a reduced design space. In the present paper, the authors propose an actuator design for a MRF based clutch combined with an integrated electric drive. The actuator design is a further development with enhanced performances considering the torque capacity. Both functionalities of this actuator can be controlled widely independent due to a suitable adjustment of the magnetic field. Therefore a model and a new control strategy are developed. The capability of this concept is proven by measurements of a new proof-of-concept prototype that provides an appropriated ratio between coupling and motor torque of 5:1. This highly integrated mechatronical actuator system allows the design of innovative applications whereby novel features are feasible.

The damping of a common cabin of a commercial vehicle is realized with hydraulic based dampers integrated inside the air springs of the suspension. For the suspension proposed in this paper, the damping forces are generated by varying the mass of air inside the air spring volume. To achieve a high bandwidth of vibration suppression, the mass flow of compressed air is controlled using fast switching valves. To use the air spring actuator in a superimposed vibration control, a force controller was designed, based on a linearized air spring model. Using four force-controlled air springs in the suspension of a cabin, a superimposed vibration control can be designed, which reduces the cabin accelerations in the lifting, pitching and rolling degree of freedom. In case of large excitations the utilized skyhook damping has to be changed into a groundhook damping, which is done by an automated cross-fade. During road tests the meaningful capability of the hybrid vibration isolation concept is proofed by measurements.

A centralized Air Traffic Management prediction model is developed. The main objective of this model is to be used for evaluating conflict detection and resolution algorithms as well as providing the flexibility for the model to be extended in order to resolve conflicts in a De-centralized manner. The model consists of many flights with different dynamics, flight plans and flight management systems. Wind effects are modelled as a random field assuming that it is gaussian, stationary and zero mean and the data is readily available to the public. The structure chosen for the model is unique in that it provides the ability to add metrics to compare the projected state and the initial state. This model is coded in MATLAB and it can act as a test environment for different conflict detection & resolution control algorithms such as stochastic MPC.
