ATM multicasting using the multicast address resolution server (MARS) and multicasting server (MCS) has been presented as an efficient scheme for supporting IP multicast over ATM. On the other hand, Internet TV, distance learning, and file distribution are emerging large-scale multicast applications in which only a single source has to deliver data to all hosts participating in the multicast group. We introduce a new scheme for electing MCSs among all hosts in the network to minimize both the end-to-end path delay and the overall load across the network for single source applications. We introduce a new measure of the overall load which is determined by calculating the number of packets' copies multiplied by the number of hops done to complete the transmission of one packet from the sender to all members in the multicast group.

This paper presents an investigation into classifying myoelectric signals using a new fuzzy clustering neural network architecture for control of multifunction prostheses. Moreover, a comparative study of the classification accuracy of myoelectric signals using multi-layer perceptron with back-propagation algorithm, and the new fuzzy clustering neural network (FCNN) is presented. The myoelectric signals considered are used to classify four upper-limb movements, which are elbow flexion, elbow extension, wrist pronation and wrist supination, grasp, and resting. The results suggest that FCNN can generalise better than the multi-layer perceptron without requiring extra computational effort. The proposed neural network algorithm allows the user to learn better and faster.

computers are increasingly used for implementing control algorithms in safety-critical embedded applications, such as engine control, braking control and flight surface control. Addressing the consequent coupling of control performance with computer related errors, this paper develops a composite computer dependability/control theory methodology for analyzing the effects data errors have on control system dependability. The effect is measured as the resulting control error (defined as the difference between the desired value of a physical properly and its actual value). We use maximum bounds on this measure as the criterion for control system failure (i.e., if the control error exceeds a certain threshold, the system has failed). In this paper we a) present suitable models of computer faults for analysis of control level effects and related analysis methods, and b) apply traditional control theory analysis methods for understanding the effects of data errors on system dependability An automobile slip-control brake-system is used as an example showing the viability of our approach.
