The widespread availability of internet access and handheld devices confers to social media a power similar to the one newspapers used to have. People seek affordable information on social media and can reach it within seconds. Yet this convenience comes with dangers;any user may freely post whatever they please and the content can stay online for a long period, regardless of its truthfulness. A need arises to detect untruthful information, also known as fake news. In this paper, we present an end-to-end solution that accurately detects fake news and immunizes network nodes that spread them in real-time. To detect fake news, we propose two new stack deep learning architectures that utilize convolutional and bidirectional LSTM layers. To mitigate the spread of fake news, we propose a real-time network-aware strategy that (1) constructs a minimum-cost weighted directed spanning tree for a detected node, and (2) immunizes nodes in that tree by scoring their harmfulness using a novel ranking function. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our solution on five real-world datasets. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

An energy model of an electrohydraulic complex has been developed. It allows analyzing the energy processes in the power channel in dynamic modes during the development of cavitation and turbulent oscillations in the pipeline network. It has been shown that the nature of energy processes in the considered cases is periodic constant power fluctuations in the analyzed time interval. The variable component in technological and energy signals of the electrohydraulic complex has been assessed. Their frequency analysis has been performed. The coefficient of power controllability of the electrohydraulic complex and its critical values, whereat the development of emergency modes is possible, have been determined. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper addresses the challenge of actuating millimetre-sized motors, which are wirelessly driven by external magnetic fields. Traditional approaches, relying on rotating magnetic fields, often inadvertently cause the entire robot – especially if it is small and lightweight – to rotate, instead of a specified shaft in the motor. To overcome this issue, our study introduces a novel mechanism that leverages symmetrically configured magnetic motors to cancel out the torques, thus preventing unwanted rotation of the robot. This is achieved by utilizing a magnetic field along a single axis to induce rotational movement. The design features two millimetre-sized rotating magnets that interact to achieve a 90 ◦ rotation, complemented by an external magnetic field that accomplishes the remaining 270 ◦ , thus completing a full rotation. Furthermore, we demonstrate that applying a perpendicularly oriented magnetic field can inversely affect the motor’s rotation direction. A proof-of-concept experiment employing this mechanism successfully actuated a gripper in a water tank while it is free-floating, showcasing its potential for enhancing robotic applications at the sub-centimeter scale, where the small net torque of a miniature motor is essential.

This paper focuses on the problem of resilient phase angle stabilization and frequency synchronization in converter-based microgrids, utilizing phasor measurement units (PMUs), in the presence of false data injection (FDI) cyberattacks. The uniformly bounded cyber-attack signals are inserted to desynchronize converters and violate frequency constraints by manipulating control input channels. To tackle this issue, a resilient and robust cooperative angular control scheme is proposed by modifying the conventional angular control method and incorporating some auxiliary states interconnecting with physical states. By presenting the converter dynamics along with the proposed controller as a port-Hamiltonian (pH) system, the design considerations of the interconnection matrices are outlined. Theoretical analysis using input-output passivity and $H_{\infty}$ norm performance index are carried out to guarantee asymptotic stability and resilient frequency synchronization against FDI attacks. Periodic-Enhanced Informer Model for Short-Term Wind Power Forecasting Using SCADA Data

Supervisory control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems can collect abundant information about wind farm operation and environment. To better make use of SCADA data, a periodic-enhanced informer model for short-term wind power forecasting using scada data is proposed. Firstly, to effectively filter out noise in SCADA data, a v-p curve-based method is adopted by incorporating a quartile approach to remove sparse outliers;a density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN) algorithm is then employed to eliminate stacked outliers from the power curve. Secondly, a multi-feature input set selection method based on Maximization Information Coefficient is introduced to make better use of the SCADA system data by reducing the number of features. Thirdly, a Temporal Convolutional Network (TCN) is designed to extract the scalar projection of the input set, followed by fusing the local time stamp and global time stamp to build the periodic information enhanced prediction model embedding layer. Subsequently, the enhanced input set is fed into an informer model to predict future wind power. Finally, considering the multiple temporal scales structure characteristics present in the dataset, a multi-scale deep fusion module is established in the informer model to deeply integrate the features of different scales. It can simultaneously avoid the resource waste and overfitting problems caused by increasing the network depth. The experimental results, which are obtained from several deep learning methods on real SCADA data, demonstrate that the suggested approach has good predictive capability. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

FPGA is a hardware architecture based on a matrix of programmable and configurable logic circuits thanks to which a large number of functionalities inside the device can be modified using a hardware description language. These functionalities must often be secured especially when the context is sensitive (military, banking, medical, legal, etc.). In this paper, we put forward an efficient implementation of SIMON's block cipher algorithm using Xilinx Vivado 2018.2. The proposed design is analyzed through simulation on Xilinx Artix-7. A prototype of our design is implemented using the xc7a35tcsg324-1 FPGA chip. Performance and results are discussed. © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper, we investigate the problem of distributed load balancing under network capacity constraints, where the participating agents cooperate with the aim of jointly minimizing both the workload disparity among them as well as the overall workload transfer. Classical approaches for asymptotic convergence to the global optimum in a distributed fashion typically assume timely exchange of information between neighboring agents of a given multi-agent system. This assumption is not necessarily valid in practical settings due to non-commensurate (heterogeneous) communication and processing delays that might affect transmissions at different times. More specifically, we consider what effect multiple heterogeneous time-varying delays, among the agents can have on the distributed load balancing problem. We show that the distributed load balancing problem under bounded heterogeneous time-varying delays is globally asymptotically stable, but the rate of convergence is affected. Bounds on the convergence rate are provided with respect to an upper bound on the delays. Simulation examples are provided to show the validity and performance of our theoretical results.

Event-based cameras are inspired by the way the retina in the eye process information. Rather than capturing image frames at a constant rate, event cameras generate data asynchronously, based on changes in pixel value between frames. As a result, these cameras have a high spatiotemporal accuracy, low power constraints and reduced artefacts from motion blur. Hence, they represent favourable properties for digitizing highly dynamic manufacturing tasks such as machine vibrations and rapid human assembly actions. However, the costs of event-based cameras are prohibitively high for small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs). In this research, we present the development of a rig that combines low-cost visual sensors with low-cost algorithms to perform action recognition for highly dynamic manual manufacturing tasks. We applied our algorithms to achieve an action classification system via a novel threshold-based approach and in parallel use a neural network to perform classification of objects in the video feed. The results achieved demonstrated that our approach was able to successfully identify various rapid manual tasks being performed on identified objects. Decarbonization of the whole energy chain has been recognized as a measure to tackle the global challenge of climate change, and significant progress has already been made on the generation side to integrate renewable energy. However, the demand side is the single largest underlying factor in shaping decarbonization roadmap. Hence, the carbon emission cost should also be shared by the users according to their power consumption. In this paper, a joint electricity-carbon trading framework is designed to reduce the carbon emission through trading and demand response. A delayed carbon emission liability settlement for asynchronous markets is proposed to ameliorate the users' optimal decision from single-point optimization to interval-based optimization. To develop the optimal strategy of trading within the proposed mechanism, an improved proximal policy optimization (PPO) algorithm based on Monte Carlo reward sampling is applied. Simulation studies reveal that, compared with the market without carbon trading and users without delayed settlement, the proposed mechanism has achieved a carbon emission reduction by 40.7% and 12.7% respectively. Simulations also show the algorithm's training efficiency can be significantly improved with the proposed Monte Carlo sampling method. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper describes the design and software implementation of a wearable prototype that allows users to monitor the vital signs of COVID-19 patients in quarantine areas. This prototype consists of two parts, the bracelet, andthe Base control unit (BCU). The bracelet is built with ESP8266 and sensors as main components, as well as the battery and other parts needed to fulfill the system's purpose (monitoring the vital signs of COVID-19 patients). At the same time, the Raspberry Pi (SCB) single board computer and GSM/GPRS/HAT are the main components of the Basic control Unit (BCU). The current work describes the main parts of the pseudocode, as well as the activity diagram for the microcontroller and Raspberry Pi. This paper describes the mechanism of sending alert messages, whereby the system's ability to configure two types of alert messages;(1) physician Messages (these Messages will be sent to the physicianassociated with the patient if one or more vital signs reach a critical value;these messages contain all measurements of a patient's vital signs);(2) Authorize messages (these messages will be sent if the quarantine rules are violated;the patient's location will be sent to the authorized person as a Google Mapslink). Also, this paper describes the graphical user interface for communication, management,. and interaction between the users of the system. © 2022 IEEE.
