Installing smart meters to publish real-time electricity rates has been controversial while it might lead to privacy concerns. Dispatched rates include fine-grained data on aggregate electricity consumption in a zone and could potentially be used to infer a household's pattern of energy use or its occupancy. In this paper, we propose Blowfish privacy to protect the occupancy state of the houses connected to a smart grid. First, we introduce a Markov model of the relationship between electricity rate and electricity consumption. Next, we develop an algorithm that perturbs electricity rates before publishing them to ensure users' privacy. Last, the proposed algorithm is tested on data inspired by household occupancy models and its performance is compared to an alternative solution.

Memetic Algorithms (MAs) are a class of stochastic global search heuristics in which Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs) - based approaches are combined usually with heuristic local searches. This hybridization is meant to reach solutions that would otherwise be unreachable by evolution or a local method alone. In this work, we propose three Local Search (LS) algorithms for hybridization with an existing Evolutionary Algorithm with Pareto ranking in order to define biological intelligence using the concepts of useful and utility and therefore to zoom on the basin of attraction of promising realistic solutions. Our experimental results with these memetic algorithms in the game of Checkers show how we can learn the organization of behaviors into paths of behaviors of different lengths and frequencies and then reveal the true nature of these behaviors.

This paper is concerned with the design of polynomial observers for positive polynomial interval systems. In order to design the polynomial observer a solution based on Sum Of Squares (SOS) programming is provided. The design conditions are presented in terms of SOS, which can be numerically and symbolically solved via SOSTOOLS and a Semi-Definite Program (SDP) solver. Finally, numerical examples are given to show the feasibility of the proposed approaches.

In this paper we propose a pipeline for brain mapping using a decentralized database with a blockchain architecture. We use a two-layer model for a distributed imaging data ledger capable of version control and authoring augmented data. Our platform is capable of direct volume rendering inside a browser window using WebGL. The data visualization pipeline allows for real-time multi-intensity transfer functions and global opacity of a given imaging recording. The platform is intended as a collaboration tool for multiple imaging laboratories and institutes and aims to help in organizing augmented data and multiple level-of-detail recordings used on a wide array of devices. We believe our platform will aid in brain mapping efforts for classification, measurement and visualization of cortical structures trough the aid of virtual reality and a scalable backend based on a standard blockchain technology.

Feature design and selection is one of the first steps towards successful fault detection and diagnosis. Data from different sources can contain complimentary information about a monitored system. Hence methods which fuse features from multiple sources can often detect and diagnose a greater number of fault modes with higher confidence. However, solutions that require data from multiple sensors as inputs can be susceptible to failure if one or more of those sensors cease to function. Optimally a solution will fuse data from a sufficient number of sensors so that the advantages of sensor fusion are realized, while the robustness of the system is retained. In this paper the authors investigate how the best subset of features might differ for fault detection and fault severity diagnosis in a multiphase flow facility case study. ReliefF, which is a K-nearest neighbors-based feature selection filter, is used to rank the features for different problems. The dataset used for the analysis contains data from various operating conditions and induced faults with various severities. It was found that the optimal subset of features varied for different monitoring problems. It was also shown that including features that are ranked as being uninformative into a fault classifier can also impact the robustness of the classifier to sensor failures.

Mobile offloading is a platform that facilitates the distribution of computationally intensive tasks from mobile devices to the cloud or other devices in order to conserve energy and improve performance. The concept is practically based on the idea of exchanging relatively low communication energy for high computation power utilization. Efforts have been channeled towards energy conservation by clusters using Dynamic Power Management (DPM). This paper is a review for green energy sources for reducing energy and using energy consumption to manage sources by stating the latest studies of energy consumption and energy consumptions.

The problem of control object with the use of feedback loop is extremely relevant, because only this method provides for the accurate control. It happened that the theory of automaticcontrol paid much attention to the methods of regulators design based on mathematical transformations, using a mathematical model of the object. It describes the transformation of an input signal into an output signal inside the object. The methods were imperfect, so one of the following simplification methods was the most frequently used: the mathematical model of the object was simplified, or the calculations were carried out with approximation, for example, the oscillations in the system were studied by the amplitude and phase of the first harmonic only. Therefore, the result of using such regulators in practice did not exactly correspond to the theory provisions. To get mathematical and experimental basis of system developer tool, a solution of the elementary sub-problems was required. Among them there are tasks of the control of an object of the first and second order. Today the situation has changed. There is a means of sufficiently accurate mathematical modeling of the behavior of the system consisting of the loop with an object and a regulator. There are software and mathematical means for regulator calculating by the method of numerical optimization. Now there is sufficient software for calculating the regulators of the object, having a rather complex mathematical model. However, this did not change the situation. A lot of articles are still published, in which it is suggested performing additional fine tuning to achieve the required parameters after calculating the regulator and its technical implementation. Quite a big number of articles is still being published;they consider the methods of the empirical tuning of regulators based on the parameters of the transient process with a given fixed gain coefficient. This situation demonstrates insufficient using of the important th
