Errors in data transmission cannot be known directly when the data transmission process is fulfilled, but error is often prevalent in data transmission. Faulty or missing frames or bits are standard errors and to control or check errors requires a unique method, in this case, the Stop-and-wait method, Go-Back-N and Selective Reject are methods that can be used to do so, comparison of time of error checking process with Stop-and-wait method, Go-Back-N and Selective Reject is very important to get the right method to check the ignorance, from testing performed that the method of Go-Back-N is much faster than the other methods. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In VLSI semi-custom design approach, power-optimal standard cell library selection for a given block design requires time-consuming iterative processes. This paper presents a framework to select a standard cell library that can result in near-optimal power while satisfying targeted frequency. The framework relies on neural network model to quickly predict the total power of a block design associated with a given standard cell library in order to speed up the synthesis process. The experimental result based on various synthesized benchmark circuits demonstrated the effectiveness of proposed framework for near-optimal standard cell library specification.

The development of higher education is very rapid rise to the tight competition both public universities and private colleges. XYZ University realized to win the competition, required continuous quality improvement, including the quality of existing service facilities. Amenities quality services is believed to support the success of the learning activities and improve user satisfaction. This study aims to determine the extent to which the quality of the services effect on user satisfaction. The research method used is survey-based questionnaire that measure perception and expectation. The results showed a gap between perception and expectations of the respondents have a negative value for each item. This means XYZ service facility at the university is not currently meet the expectations of society members. Three service facility that has the lowest index is based on the perception of respondents is a laboratory (2.56), computer and multimedia (2.63) as well as wifi network (2.99). The magnitude of the correlation between satisfaction with the quality of service facilities is 0.725 which means a strong and positive relationship. The influence of the quality of service facilities to the satisfaction of the students is 0.525 meaning that the variable quality of the services facility can explain 52.5% of the variable satisfaction. The study provided recommendations for improvements to enhance the quality of services facility at the XYZ university facilities. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Mobile long-distance web-based monitoring systems will become increasingly common in the near future. This paper focuses on the development of a healthcare telemonitoring system that uses an adaptive web-based framework that monitors several parameters simultaneously. The proposed system simplifies patient and physician access to the healthcare system. It combines many healthcare service functions for a long distance monitoring system. The system immediately sends blood pressure, blood sugar, respiration, heartbeat, pulse, body temperature and transmits them to the clinic's server. All of these parameters can be inputted by patients themselves while the patients are far from the clinical environment and forwarded to the physician for further diagnosis and medical treatment. The advantages of the proposed system are simple patient access through the internet and simple connectivity to a physician from remote areas. A smartphone with multimedia features and an internet connection in a mobile environment can be used to perform mobile computing anywhere and anytime. It keeps real-time recording and monitoring of physiological parameters of patients at a low cost and at home. The physiological parameters of the patient are enhanced by multimedia data. By using the good quality of the multimedia data, the physician can be more precise when providing a diagnosis or medical treatment to the patient. The proposed framework can be used to develop a practical web-based mobile telemonitoring system in a mobile environment.

Non-orthogonal multiple access schemes with higher spectral efficiency and the capability of accessing more users than orthogonal multiple access (OMA) scheme is preferred for the fifth generation (5G) wireless networks. In this work, a non-orthogonal transmission scheme called pattern division multiple access (PDMA) is proposed for the 5G wireless communication systems. Two pattern matrices are proposed for 150% and 200% overloaded PDMA systems. Then, a low complexity symbol-wise belief propagation iterative detection and decoding (BPIDD) algorithm for multiple user detection is proposed. Numerical results and analysis provided by utilizing extrinsic information transfer chart show that the proposed scheme outperforms the traditional OMA systems significantly, and the performance of the proposed scheme is better than that of the existing schemes up to 1 dB. Finally, simulation results show that the proposed scheme is superior to the existing schemes and the proposed BPIDD algorithm is better than that of the BP algorithm over 0.5 dB.

In this paper, we investigate a multiuser distributed antenna system with simultaneous wireless information and power transmission under the assumption of imperfect channel state information (CSI). In this system, a distributed antenna port with multiple antennas supports a set of mobile stations who can decode information and harvest energy simultaneously via a power splitter. To design robust transmit beamforming vectors and the power splitting (PS) factors in the presence of CSI errors, we maximize the average worst-case signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) while achieving individual energy harvesting constraint for each mobile station. First, we develop an efficient algorithm to convert the max-min SINR problem to a set of "dual" min-max power balancing problems. Then, motivated by the penalty function method, an iterative algorithm based on semi-definite programming (SDP) is proposed to achieve a local optimal rank-one solution. Also, to reduce the computational complexity, we present another iterative scheme based on the Lagrangian method and the successive convex approximation (SCA) technique to yield a suboptimal solution. Simulation results are shown to validate the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed algorithms. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Paravirtualization manages virtual machines and virtual resources efficiently by the communication between the virtualization layer and modified guest OSes. In a paravirtual environment, the I/O response of a virtual machine is hard to approach that of a native OS because a virtual I/O is asynchronously processed by the virtualization layer without hardware supports. Virtual CPU scheduling algorithms have been proposed to improve the I/O performance. However, existing solutions lack the I/O fairness when virtual machines have various or skewed of workloads because they put the I/O performance of latency-sensitive vCPUs before vCPUs that are not. In this paper, we design a credit based vCPU scheduling model for I/O performance of virtual machines by using a loan and repayment system. Credit rating of each virtual CPU is periodically evaluated by observing its resource consumption pattern and a virtual CPU cannot be allocated more resources until the repayment is finished.
