We develop a new continuous wavelet-like transform for localized ridgelets. Contrary to the classical ridgelets (which are not local), this new dictionary exhibits desirable decay so that all the atoms lie in L2(Rd). Furthermore, each localized ridgelet atom is itself a superposition of continuously many classical ridgelets. Our construction hinges on a careful wavelet analysis in the Radon domain, different than the usual Radon-domain wavelet analysis found in the study of classical ridgelets. This is crucial in ensuring the locality of our new, localized ridgelet atoms. We prove a continuous transform and inversion formula for this new dictionary. Finally, due to the locality of these atoms, we conjecture that this new dictionary is better conditioned than the system of non-local ridge functions used ubiquitously in modern neural networks. © 2023 IEEE.

Perovskite solar cells(PSCs)have made great advances in terms of power conversion efficiency(PCE),yet their subpar stability continues to hinder their *** interface between the perovskite layer and the charge-carrier transporting layers plays a crucial role in undermining the stability of *** this work,we propose a strategy to stabilize high-performance PSCs with PCE over 23%by introducing a cesium-doped graphene oxide(GO-Cs)as an interlayer between the perovskite and hole-transporting *** GO-Cs treated PSCs exhibit excellent operational stability with a projected T80(the time where the device PCE reduces to 80%of its initial value)of 2143 h of operation at the maximum powering point under one sun illumination.

Tracking targets based on measurements provided by radar, sonar, or lidar sensors is essential to obtain situational awareness in important applications, including autonomous navigation and applied ocean sciences. A key challenge in multitarget tracking is the unknown association between the available measurements and the targets to be tracked. In particular, robust data association for closely spaced targets requires advanced methods that explicitly model unresolved measurements. Due to limited sensor resolution, the sensor produces a single measurement for two or more actual targets. If not explicitly modeled in the multitarget tracking method, unresolved measurements lead to track losses and thus, to significant tracking errors. In this paper, we propose a scalable data association method for the tracking of multiple potentially unresolved targets. A loopy belief propagation method is presented that efficiently approximates the marginal association probabilities given a set of potentially unresolved measurements. This method scales quadratically in the number of targets and linearly in the number of measurements. Our numerical results demonstrate that the computed approximate marginal association probabilities are close in L1 distance to the true marginal association probabilities, which can only be calculated for very small tracking scenarios. © 2023 International Society of Information Fusion.

In minimally invasive procedures such as biopsies and prostate cancer brachytherapy, accurate needle placement remains challenging due to limitations in current tracking methods related to interference, reliability, resolution or image contrast. This often leads to frequent needle adjustments and reinsertions. To address these shortcomings, we introduce an optimized needle shape-sensing method using a fully distributed grating-based sensor. The proposed method uses simple trigonometric and geometric modeling of the fiber using optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR), without requiring prior knowledge of tissue properties or needle deflection shape and amplitude. Our optimization process includes a reproducible calibration process and a novel tip curvature compensation method. We validate our approach through experiments in artificial isotropic and inhomogeneous animal tissues, establishing ground truth using 3D stereo vision and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) acquisitions, respectively. Our results yield an average RMSE ranging from 0.58 ± 0.21 mm to 0.66 ± 0.20 mm depending on the chosen spatial resolution, achieving the submillimeter accuracy required for interventional procedures.

A Synchrophasor Estimator Characterized by Attenuated Self-Interference and Robustness Against DC Offsets: the DCSOGI Interpolated DFT

The second-order generalized integrator (SOGI), which can be used to attenuate the self-interference of the fundamental tone, is unable to reject DC offsets on the input signal. Consequently, the performance of any SOGI based synchrophasor estimation (SE) technique might be compromised in the presence of such DC components. The current work presents a SE algorithm which adopts and enhanced SOGI formulation, robust against DC, combined with a three-point IpDFT and a Hanning window. Two alternative formulations relying respectively on the use of two and three nominal fundamental period observation windows are proposed and assessed for simultaneous compliance with both phasor measurement unit (PMU) P and M performance classes. This is done by means of a simulated environment where all the operating conditions defined by the IEC/IEEE Std. 60255-118-1-2018 are evaluated simultaneously combined with a 10% static DC and under two different noise levels. Furthermore, both formulations adopt a dedicated mechanism for the detection and correction of low amplitude 2nd harmonic tones to ensure their compliance with the standard can be maintained in the presence of such disturbances even under off-nominal frequency conditions. Finally the resilience of both methods against multiple simultaneous harmonic interferences is also analyzed. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The detection and characterization of human veins using infrared (IR) image processing have gained significant attention due to its potential applications in biometric identification, medical diagnostics, and vein-based authentication systems. This paper presents a low-cost approach for automatic detection and characterization of human veins from IR images. The proposed method uses image processing techniques including segmentation, feature extraction, and, pattern recognition algorithms. Initially, the IR images are preprocessed to enhance vein structures and reduce noise. Subsequently, a CLAHE algorithm is employed to extract vein regions based on their unique IR absorption properties. Features such as vein thickness, orientation, and branching patterns are extracted using mathematical morphology and directional filters. Finally, a classification framework is implemented to categorize veins and distinguish them from surrounding tissues or artifacts. A setup based on Raspberry Pi was used. Experimental results of IR images demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed approach in accurately detecting and characterizing human. The developed system shows promising for integration into applications requiring reliable and secure identification based on vein patterns. Our work provides an effective and low-cost solution for nursing staff in low and middle-income countries to perform a safe and accurate venipuncture.

Moving toward software-defined networking and function virtualization, flexibility and reconfigurability of the network have become more and more critical. Packet parsing, the first processing stage of programmable switches, requires high performance and reconfigurability to allow implementing low-latency and highly flexible data networks. This paper proposes an overlay architecture for an FPGA-based P4-programmable streaming packet parser. The purpose of this architecture is to allow supporting different functionality with a fixed hardware design by changing a program stored in an embedded memory. This program is derived from the parser section of a P4 code, describing a parsing graph. This approach eliminates a pipeline of parsing blocks in favor of a single parsing block, thereby reducing the design's complexity. Our architecture offers an 11 Gb/s data rate on a Xilinx Virtex-7 XC7VX690 FPGA, while its implementation requires 312 LUTs and 1135 FFs.

Distributed massive multiple-input multipleoutput (mMIMO) system for low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks is introduced as a promising technique to provide broadband connectivity. Nevertheless, several challenges persist in implementing distributed mMIMO systems for LEO satellite networks. These challenges include providing scalable massive access implementation as the system complexity increases with network size. Another challenging issue is the asynchronous arrival of signals at the user terminals due to the different propagation delays among distributed antennas in space, which destroys the coherent transmission, and consequently degrades the system performance. In this paper, we propose a scalable distributed mMIMO system for LEO satellite networks based on dynamic user-centric clustering. Aiming to obtain scalable implementation, new algorithms for initial cooperative access, cluster selection, and cluster handover are provided. In addition, phase shift-aware precoding is implemented to compensate for the propagation delay phase shifts. The performance of the proposed user-centric distributed mMIMO is compared with two baseline configurations: the non-cooperative transmission systems, where each user connects to only a single satellite, and the full-cooperative distributed mMIMO systems, where all satellites contribute serving each user. The numerical results show the potential of the proposed distributed mMIMO system to enhance system spectral efficiency when compared to noncooperative transmission systems. Additionally, it demonstrates the ability to minimize the serving cluster size for each user, thereby reducing the overall system complexity in comparison to the full-cooperative distributed mMIMO systems.

Inverted perovskite solar cells(PSCs)have attracted increasing attention in recent years owing to their low-temperature fabrication proces ***,they suffer from a limited number of electron transport materials available with[6,6]-phenyl C61 butyric acid methyl ester(PCBM)to be the most widely studied based on its appropriate energy levels and high electron *** low relative permittivity and aggregation tendency upon illumination of PCBM,however,compromises the solar cell efficiency whereas its modest hydrophobicity negatively impacts on the device *** electron transport materials with desired properties and appropriate degree of hydrophobicity are thus desirable for further developments in inverted ***,we synthesize a triethyleneglycol C60 mono-adduct derivative(termed as EPF03)and test it as a novel electron transport material to replace PCBM in inverted PSCs based on a quadruple cation(RbCsMAFA)*** also compare this derivative with two novel fullerenes decorated with two(EPF01)or one dodecyl(EPF02)long side *** latter two fail to perform efficiently in inverted PSCs whereas the former enabled a power conversion efficiency of 18.43%,which represents a 9%improvement compared to the reference device using PCBM(17.21%).The enhanced performance mainly stems from improved electron extraction and reduced recombination enabled by the insertion of the large relative permittivity amongst other properties of ***,our results indicate that triethylene glycol side chains can also passivate perovskite trap states,suppress ion migration and enhance photostability and long-term stability of EPF03 based perovskite solar cells.
