Swenson USNR (Ret.):is a project manager for special projects in the Surface Ship Systems Division Hughes Aircraft Company Fullerton Calif where he has been employed since his retirement from the U.S. Navy in 1975. Originally trained as an electronics technician during WWII in the Captain Eddy program he later received a BS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Rochester Rochester N. Y. in 1950. Subsequent engineering education was received at the University of Pittsburgh Pittsburgh Penn. and the Naval Postgraduate School Monterey Calif. After commissioning he was ordered to duty as the electronics division officer on the USSMissouri(BB-63) and electronics ships superintendent at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard San Francisco Calif. When the design of the Naval Tactical Data System began in the mid-1950s Lt. (j.g.) Swenson was ordered to the Bureau of Ships Navy Department Washington D.C. as the junior engineering duty only officer assigned to the project. From 1962 to 1965 LCdr. Swenson was assigned as the BuShips technical representative on the program at Remington Rand Univac St. Paul Minn. For the next ten years he returned to BuShips/NavSea/NAVSEC as the NTDS project officer. During this time the project expanded considerably foreign military sales were heavily involved and interoperability with other services and countries were established. His final effort on active duty was to instigate the redesign of the previousSpruanceclass destroyers into the newerAdmiral Kiddclass improvement program. He is a registered professional electrical engineer in the State of California listed inWho's Who in the Worldis a life member of ASNE and chairman of the Long Beach/Greater LA Section. Capt. S. in electrical engineering from Catholic University and a masters degree from Columbia University in New York. He has served as engineering officer USS Paul Revere (APA-248) as ship superintendent at the New York Naval Shipyard and as assistant material officer on the staff of Commander Naval Air Force Atlantic Fleet. He has a distinguished background as an engineering duty officer in engineering electronics. He has served as the head of the Operations Department on the IN-SURV Board and was assigned as head Logistics Branch Navy Division Defense Attache's Office Saigon Vietnam. For six years he was project manager for the Nimitz class carrier acquisition program PMS-392 at the Naval Sea Systems Command. During this tour he was responsible for the construction and delivery of USS Nimitz (CVN-68) and USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) and the construction through launching of USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70). He also consolidated the VSTOL support ship project into PMS-392 and developed the Service Life Extension Program for USS Saratoga (CV-60). During his subsequent tour he was supervisor of shipbuilding converson and repair in Pascagoula MS. He is presently serving as the assistant commander for acquisition and logistic planning at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command. He is a member of ASNE. Cdr. Robert E. Bruninga USN: was graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1970 with a B. S. degree in electrical engineering. After attending the United States Naval Postgraduate School Monterey where he received his M. S. degree in electrical engineering he was assigned as the assistant weapons instrumentation officer on USS Observation Island (AG-154). Later while serving on the Commander Service Group Three staff in Sasebo Japan he was selected as an engineering duty officer (ED). With proven subspecialities in Material Management and Computer Systems Technology he has served as Commanding Officer USS Hepburn (FF-IOSS) Program Manager of the Mk 86 Gun Fire Control System at the Naval Sea Systems Command and is currently Commanding Officer of the Navy Regional Data Automation Center Washington D. C. Paul Berman is manager of Product Support Engineering for Lockheed Electronics Company Plain field New Jersey. His department is responsible for logistics planning and analysk supply support field engineering training and technical documentation in support of the division as products. His 30 years of experience in product support include preparation of logistics plans engineering data technical publications and training materials. He is also an adjunct instructor at Rutgers University. Mr. Berman received a BA from Queens College in 1951 and an MA from Hunter College in 1957. He attended the U.S. Army Signal Corps radar school and was a field radio and radar repairman during the Korean War. He is currently a member of the Society of Logistics Engineers and the National Management Association.

Frosch born in New York City on 22 May 1928 attended Columbia University from which he received his B.A. degree in 1947 his M.A. degree in 1949 and his Ph.D. degree in 1952 all in the field of Theoretical Physics. While completing his studies for his doctorate he joined Columbia's Hudson Laboratories in 1951 and worked on naval research projects as a Research Scientist until 1958 when he became the Director Hudson Laboratories a post he held until 1963. From 1965 to 1966 he was Deputy Director Advanced Research Projects Agency (APRA) Department of Defense (DOD) having first joined ARPA in 1963 as the Director for Nuclear Test Detection the position he held until 1965. Since 1969 he also has served as the DOD member of the Committee for Policy Review National Council of Marine Resources and Engineering Development and in 1967 and 1970 as the Chairman of the U.S. Delegation to the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission meetings at UNESCO in Paris. In addition he was the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research & Development from 1966 to 1973 Assistant Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program with the rank of Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations from 1973 to 1975 and Assistant Director for Applied Oceanography at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution from 1975 until mid-1977. In June 1977 he became the Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) the position he held prior to joining the American Association of Engineering Societies (AAES) Incorporated. On 20 January 1981 he was elected to his present post as President AAES. Additionally he was the Sea Grant Lecturer for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1974 and currently is a National Lecturer for Sigma Xi. Ryan graduated from Frostburg State College and has performed graduate studies in Technology of Management at American University and University of Southern California. He is presently Executive Director of the Surface Missile Systems Sub-Group in the Naval Sea Systems Command. He was previously Deputy Project Manager of the MK-92 FCS/MK-75 Gun Project Deputy Systems Engineering Manager in the AEGIS Project and Surface Missile Systems Branch Head in the Naval Ordnance Systems Command. His earlier experience with the Department of the Navy included the Engineering Interface Management Office in the Bureau of Ships the Foreign Ship Systems Engineering Office and Switching Systems Design Office at RCA Service Company and he served for four years in the U.S. Navy as an Electronic Technician Petty Officer. In addition to ASNE he is a member of the Association of Scientists and Engineers and is the Executive Director (NAVSEA) for the 1978-79 term. In addition to several outstanding performance awards and citations for achievement Mr. Ryan received the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award for exceptional contribution to the development of the AEGIS Weapon System. Mr. Jack Berlin received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the City College of New York and his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. He spent eight years in the Radar and Microwave Electronics Section of the Naval Material Laboratory. Subsequently. he has had extensive experience in Radar and Fire Control Systems. This has included responsibility for the design and field evaluation of the GFCS MK 87 Radar. From 1972 to 1973 he was the Sperry Program Manager for the Fire Control System (FCS) MK 92. His current assignment is Assistant Manager for New Developments of Missile and Gun Fire Control Systems for the U.S. Navy. He is a member of the Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu Honorary Societies.

Naval Academy Preparatory School the U. S. Coast Guard Academy and the University of Virginia where in 1939 he received the S.M. degree in engineering and in 1940 the degree of electrical engineer. In 1942 he was graduated with the S.M. degree in communication engineering from Cruft Laboratory Harvard University and that summer completed the Navy course in radar engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. From the fall of 1942 to the spring of 1944 he was engaged in lecturing to officers of the Armed Forces assigned to the radar schools at Harvard and Princeton Universities. His experience includes amateur naval and broadcast-station operation in addition to some four years of research work in the Bureau of Ships Navy Department and the Naval Research Laboratory. He is the author of numerous papers dealing with various phases of electronics. Comdr. Harrison is presently attached to the Naval Research Laboratory. He is a member of the Harvard Chapter of Sigma XI the American Physical Society the Institute of Radio Engineers the Audio Engineering Society the Harvard Engineering Club and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

作者: ROOT, L. EUGENE Mr. Root registered professional engineer in California received his B.A. in Engineering and Mathematics in 1932 from the University of the Pacific. He also received a M.S. in both Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology in 1933 and 1934 respectively. Mr. Root joined Douglas Aircraft Company in 1934 where he served in such positions as Assistant Chief Aerodynamics Section (1934-39) Chief Aerodynamics Section (1939-46) and from 1946-48 he was assigned to special engineering projects (Project Rand) where he pioneered parametric approach to aircraft design. He joined the Rand Corporation as Chief Aircraft Division in 1948. While on leave from Rand in 1951-52 he acted as Special Assistant to Deputy Chief of Staff/Development Headquarters USAF. He also aided substantially in establishing the Directorate of Development Planning in the Office of Deputy Chief of Staff/Development. In 1953 Mr. Root was offered the position of Director of Development Planning Department with Lockheed Aircraft Corporation where he established a centralized planning effort generally toward a corporate diversification plan and specifically toward the development of missile and space system programs. In 1965 he became Vice President of Lock-heed Aircraft Corporation and General Manager of the Missiles and Space Division. In 1957 Mr. Root was made Group Vice President Missiles and Electronics of Lockheed Missiles and Space Division Lockheed Electronics Company and Grand Central Rocket Company where he served in this capacity until 1961 when he became President of Lockheed Missiles and Space Company in which position he is currently serving. Mr. Root has been very active in the aeronautic field serving on many committees and acting as aircraft design consultant. He holds the patent for central surface shape for aerodynamic balancing and has published many papers within the field. 作者: MISKA, JK THE AUTHOR:was born in Poland where he received his undergraduate education at State Teachers College in Cracov. His work toward a Masters degree in Mathematics at Jagiellonski University in Cracov was interrupted by the outbreak of World War II in 1939. Mr. Miska came to the United States in 1949. He earned his B.S. degree in Electronics Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1957. He gained valuable engineering experience at the Zenith Radio Corp. Hoffman Electronics and The Hallicrafters where he worked on the research programs design and development of electronic items from a single diode and transistor to Electronic Counter-measure Equipment. In 1960 he joined the Reliability Department of ITT Kellogg in Chicago where he worked on the Reliability Assurance program for Minuteman communication equipment (465) and Apollo (IFTS). In 1966 Mr. Miska joined the Naval Ship Engineering Center where he is currently project engineer R/M in Electrical Equipment Branch Machinery Systems Division. He is a member of IEEE ASE and PANEES.
