Deep learning (DL) architectures for super-resolution (SR) normally contain tremendous parameters, which has been regarded as the crucial advantage for obtaining satisfying performance. However, with the widespread use of mobile phones for taking and retouching photos, this character greatly hampers the deployment of DL-SR models on the mobile devices. To address this problem, in this paper, we propose a super lightweight SR network: s-LWSR. There are mainly three contributions in our work. Firstly, in order to efficiently abstract features from the low resolution image, we build an information pool to mix multi-level information from the first half part of the pipeline. Accordingly, the information pool feeds the second half part with the combination of hierarchical features from the previous layers. Secondly, we employ a compression module to further decrease the size of parameters. Intensive analysis confirms its capacity of trade-off between model complexity and accuracy. Thirdly, by revealing the specific role of activation in deep models, we remove several activation layers in our SR model to retain more information for performance improvement. Extensive experiments show that our s-LWSR, with limited parameters and operations, can achieve similar performance to other cumbersome DL-SR methods. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. This paper intends to design an Ultra-Wideband (UWB) antenna for future Internet of Things (IoT) applications for off-body Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN) communication. An antenna based on the Y-shaped patch fed using co-planar waveguide (CPW) line, with a full ground plane is designed. It is implemented on two different substrates, namely a 5mm thick Rogers RO4350B and a 5-mm-thick felt textile. Parametric analysis of antenna is performed by changing its critical dimensions and monitoring parameters such as gain, bandwidth, efficiency, radiation pattern when using both substrates. Besides that, the bending effects towards reflection coefficient and radiation patterns are also studied. The final patch size with the Y-shaped slot is 36 × 40 mm2 for both substrates. The antenna is capable of providing coverage for the bands from 8 to 10 GHz. Finally, the antenna designed on RO4350B substrate outperforms the antenna designed on felt by about four times in terms of bandwidth, with 3.3 GHz (7.7–11 GHz).

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted gaps in health surveillance systems, disease prevention, and treatment globally. Among the many factors that might have led to these gaps is the issue of the financing of national health systems, especially in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), as well as a robust global system for pandemic preparedness. We aimed to provide a comparative assessment of global health spending at the onset of the pandemic;characterise the amount of development assistance for pandemic preparedness and response disbursed in the first 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic;and examine expectations for future health spending and put into context the expected need for investment in pandemic preparedness. Methods: In this analysis of global health spending between 1990 and 2021, and prediction from 2021 to 2026, we estimated four sources of health spending: development assistance for health (DAH), government spending, out-of-pocket spending, and prepaid private spending across 204 countries and territories. We used the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)'s Creditor Reporting System (CRS) and the WHO Global Health Expenditure Database (GHED) to estimate spending. We estimated development assistance for general health, COVID-19 response, and pandemic preparedness and response using a keyword search. Health spending estimates were combined with estimates of resources needed for pandemic prevention and preparedness to analyse future health spending patterns, relative to need. Findings: In 2019, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, US$9·2 trillion (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 9·1–9·3) was spent on health worldwide. We found great disparities in the amount of resources devoted to health, with high-income countries spending $7·3 trillion (95% UI 7·2–7·4) in 2019;293·7 times the $24·8 billion (95% UI 24·3–25·3) spent by low-income countries in 2019. Enterprise engineering deals with the design of processes which aim to improve the structure and efficiency of business organizations. It develops approaches based on modeling techniques, particularly on business process modeling, to ensure the quality and the global consistency of enterprise strategies and expectations. Nowadays, risk consideration in enterprise engineering is a growing concern since the business environment is becoming more and more competitive, complex, and unpredictable. To face this concern, a paradigm named risk-aware business process management (R-BPM) has recently emerged. It seeks to integrate the two traditionally isolated fields of risk management and business process management. Despite the significant benefits that can arise from the use of R-BPM, it suffers from a lack of solid scientific foundations and dedicated tooling. This present research work contributes to bridging that gap in a twofold way: (i) by establishing the BPRIM business process-risk integrated method framework, and (ii) by designing a dedicated tool, named ADOBPRIM which supports the efficient application of the BPRIM framework. This paper first comprehensively presents the foundation of BPRIM which is based on three main components and, secondly, its dedicated tool ADOBPRIM which was designed using the ADOxx meta-modeling platform. An evaluation with a real case study in the health care domain shows the relevance of the methodological framework. © 2019 Elsevier B.V.

This Paper explores the current use of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) as a means of educational outreach among identified remote populations in Southeast Asia. Often excluded from traditional educational outreach, these groups are targeted through the COMPETEN-SEA Project, a Capacity Building in Higher Education project funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Commission and implemented in partnership with European and Southeast Asian universities. It is hoped that the Project will aid participating Southeast Asian countries address societal needs and attain national development goals. © 2018 IEEE.

Collective knowledge is understood as the common knowledge state of a collective consisting of autonomous units. The knowledge states referred from these autonomous units to some degree reflect the real knowledge state of a subject in the real world, but it is not known to what degree because of incompleteness and uncertainty. Although collective knowledge determination is an important task because these knowledge states can be different from each other, there exists another important issue with its quality. The quality of collective knowledge is based on the difference between the real knowledge state and the collective knowledge. In this study, we investigate the influence of the number of collective members on the quality of collective knowledge. Through experimental analysis, the larger collective we use, the better the quality of collective knowledge will be. In other words, the large number of collective members positively affects the quality of collective knowledge. Besides, some theorems about the relationship between the collective knowledge and the knowledge states in a collective, the influence of adding or removing members on the quality of collective knowledge are also proved. © 2017 - IOS Press and the authors. Entity search and exploration can enrich search user interfaces by presenting relevant information instantly and offering relevant exploration pointers to users. Previous research has demonstrated that large knowledge Graphs allow exploitation and recommendation of explicit links between the entities and other information to improve information access and ranking. However, less attention has been devoted to user interfaces for effectively presenting results, recommending related entities and explaining relations between entities. We introduce a system called SEED which is designed to support entity search and exploration in large knowledge Graphs. We demonstrate SEED using a dataset of hundreds of thousands of movie related entities from the DBpedia knowledge Graph. The system utilizes a graph embedding model for ranking entities and their relations, recommending related entities, and explaining their interrelations. Copyright is held by the author/owner(s).

The sparse synthesis of the concentric circular antenna array (CCAA) is a very important technology because it is able to reduce the cost of the antenna array. In this paper, we first formulate a multi-objective optimization problem to jointly reduce the maximum sidelobe level (SLL) and the number of the switched-on elements of the CCAA. Then, we propose a novel enhanced non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II (ENSGA-II) to solve this problem. ENSGA-II introduces a hierarchy mechanism to improve the population utilization of the conventional non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm, thereby enhancing the accuracy and the convergence rate of the algorithm. Simulation results show that ENSGA-II obtains a lower maximum SLL with the similar number the switched-off elements compared with other algorithms. Moreover, ENSGA-II has a faster convergence rate.

Zero-shot user intent detection via capsule neural networks

User intent detection plays a critical role in question-answering and dialog systems. Most previous works treat intent detection as a classification problem where utterances are labeled with predefined intents. However, it is labor-intensive and time-consuming to label users' utterances as intents are diversely expressed and novel intents will continually be involved. Instead, we study the zero-shot intent detection problem, which aims to detect emerging user intents where no labeled utterances are currently available. We propose two capsule-based architectures: IntentCapsNet that extracts semantic features from utterances and aggregates them to discriminate existing intents, and IntentCapsNet-ZSL which gives IntentCapsNet the zero-shot learning ability to discriminate emerging intents via knowledge transfer from existing intents. Experiments on two real-world datasets show that our model not only can better discriminate diversely expressed existing intents, but is also able to discriminate emerging intents when no labeled utterances are available. The Web usage mining techniques are used to scrutinize the web usage patterns for a web site. Web page prediction plays a vital role by predicting next set of web pages that a user may visit based on the knowledge of the previously visited pages. Web page prediction is the focus of attention of many researchers in recent times and different web page prediction frameworks have been proposed. In this paper, a comparative analysis between two different approaches of web page prediction, namely, Latest Substring Association Rule mining (LSA) and Hidden Markov Model (HMM) has been represented. Web page prediction is implemented by using both the approaches and the experimental results are provided. Finally, an improved approach for web page prediction is proposed at the end of the paper. © 2017 IEEE.
