In many practical applications, deep neural networks have been typically deployed to operate as a black box predictors. Despite high amount of work on interpretability and high demand on reliability of these systems, they typically still have to include a human actor in the loop, to validate the decisions and handle unpredictable failures and unexpected corner cases. This is true in particular for failure-critical application domains, such as medical diagnosis. We present a novel approach to explain and support an interpretation of a decision-making process to a human expert operating a deep learning system based on Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). By modeling activation statistics on selected layers of a trained CNN via Gaussian Mixture Models (GMM), we develop a novel perceptual code in binary vector space that describes how input sample is processed by the CNN. By measuring distances between pairs of samples in this perceptual encoding space, for any new input sample, we can now retrieve a set of most perceptually similar and dissimilar samples from an existing atlas of labeled samples, to support and clarify the decision made by the CNN model. Possible uses of this approach include for example Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) systems working with medical imaging data, such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or Computed Tomography (CT) scans. We demonstrate the viability of our method in the domain of medical imaging for patient condition diagnosis, as proposed decision explanation method via similar ground truth domain examples (e.g. from existing diagnosis archives) will be interpretable by the operating medical personnel. While social media has been proved as an exceptionally useful tool to interact with other people and massively and quickly spread helpful information, its great potential has been ill-intentionally leveraged as well to distort political elections and manipulate constituents. In the paper at hand, we analyzed the presence and behavior of social bots on Twitter in the context of the November 2019 Spanish general election. Throughout our study, we classified involved users as social bots or humans, and examined their interactions from a quantitative (i.e., amount of traffic generated and existing relations) and qualitative (i.e., user's political affinity and sentiment towards the most important parties) perspectives. Results demonstrated that a non-negligible amount of those bots actively participated in the election, supporting each of the five principal political parties. © 2020, CC BY.

XAI refers to the techniques and methods for building AI applications which assist end users to interpret output and predictions of AI models. Black box AI applications in high-stakes decision-making situations, such as medical domain have increased the demand for transparency and explainability since wrong predictions may have severe consequences. Model explainability and interpretability are vital successful deployment of AI models in healthcare practices. AI applications' underlying reasoning needs to be transparent to clinicians in order to gain their trust. This paper presents a systematic review of XAI aspects and challenges in the healthcare domain. The primary goals of this study are to review various XAI methods, their challenges, and related machine learning models in healthcare. The methods are discussed under six categories: Features-oriented methods, global methods, concept models, surrogate models, local pixel-based methods, and human-centric methods. Most importantly, the paper explores XAI role in healthcare problems to clarify its necessity in safety-critical applications. The paper intends to establish a comprehensive understanding of XAI-related applications in the healthcare field by reviewing the related experimental results. To facilitate future research for filling research gaps, the importance of XAI models from different viewpoints and their limitations are investigated. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper reports on the NTIRE 2024 Quality Assessment of AI-Generated Content Challenge, which will be held in conjunction with the New Trends in Image Restoration and Enhancement Workshop (NTIRE) at CVPR 2024. This challenge is to address a major challenge in the field of image and video processing, namely, Image Quality Assessment (IQA) and Video Quality Assessment (VQA) for AI-Generated Content (AIGC). The challenge is divided into the image track and the video track. The image track uses the AIGIQA-20K, which contains 20,000 AI-Generated Images (AIGIs) generated by 15 popular generative models. The image track has a total of 318 registered participants. A total of 1,646 submissions are received in the development phase, and 221 submissions are received in the test phase. Finally, 16 participating teams submitted their models and fact sheets. The video track uses the T2VQA-DB, which contains 10,000 AI-Generated Videos (AIGVs) generated by 9 popular Text-to-Video (T2V) models. A total of 196 participants have registered in the video track. A total of 991 submissions are received in the development phase, and 185 submissions are received in the test phase. Finally, 12 participating teams submitted their models and fact sheets. Some methods have achieved better results than baseline methods, and the winning methods in both tracks have demonstrated superior prediction performance on AIGC. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. This paper studies the problem of distributed targeted distance-based formation control for mechanical systems. The problem consists on finding a distributed control law such that if each agent targets a convex set, and also measures the relative position of their nearest neighbors, then the agents achieve the desired formation in these sets while its velocities are driven to zero. We study the problem for agents with a time-delay communication in the measurements of the relative positions and where the motion of each agent is determined by a Lagrangian function. Simulation are given to validate the theoretical result.

Recently, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) present a promising advanced technology that can enhance people life quality and smartness of cities dramatically and increase overall economic efficiency. UAVs have attained a significant interest in supporting many applications such as surveillance, agriculture, communication, transportation, pollution monitoring, disaster management, public safety, healthcare, and environmental preservation. Industry 4.0 applications are conceived of intelligent things that can automatically and collaboratively improve beyond 5G (B5G). Therefore, the Internet of Things (IoT) is required to ensure collaboration between the vast multitude of things efficiently anywhere in real-world applications that are monitored in real-time. However, many IoT devices consume a significant amount of energy when transmitting the collected data from surrounding environments. Due to a drone's capability to fly closer to IoT, UAV technology plays a vital role in greening IoT by transmitting collected data to achieve a sustainable, reliable, eco-friendly Industry 4.0. This survey presents an overview of the techniques and strategies proposed recently to achieve green IoT using UAVs infrastructure for a reliable and sustainable smart world. This survey is different from other attempts in terms of concept, focus, and discussion. Background: Despite major advances in artificial intelligence (AI) research for healthcare, the deployment and adoption of AI technologies remain limited in clinical practice. In recent years, concerns have been raised about the clinical, technical, ethical and legal risks associated with healthcare AI. To increase adoption in the real world, it is essential that AI technologies are trusted and accepted by patients, clinicians, health organisations and authorities. This paper describes the FUTURE-AI framework as the first international consensus guideline for trustworthy AI in healthcare. Methods: The FUTURE-AI consortium was founded in 2021 and now comprises 117 interdisciplinary experts from 50 countries representing all continents, including AI scientists, clinical researchers, biomedical ethicists, and social scientists. Over a two-year period, the consortium established guiding principles and best practices for trustworthy and deployable AI through an iterative process comprising an in-depth literature review, a modified Delphi survey, and online consensus meetings. Findings: The FUTURE-AI framework was established based on six guiding principles for trustworthy AI in healthcare, i.e. Fairness, Universality, Traceability, Usability, Robustness and Explainability. Through consensus, a set of 30 best practices were defined, addressing technical, clinical, socio-ethical and legal dimensions of trustworthy AI. The recommendations cover the entire lifecycle of healthcare AI, from design, development and validation to regulation, deployment, and monitoring. Interpretation: FUTURE-AI is a structured, risk-informed framework which provides guidance for constructing healthcare AI tools that will be trusted, deployed and adopted in real-world clinical practice. Researchers are encouraged to take the recommendations into account in proof-of-concept stages to facilitate future translation towards clinical practice of healthcare AI. The cybernetic essence of the data extraction process at the level of end nodes (intermediate links of the information exchange path) is considered in the article. Authors consider and generalize the context-oriented problem of control action transferring to a specific activation point (transfer perceptron (response node)).The authors consider the subject area - distributed response networks. The role of addictive technologies in the process of formation of a complex control action or command and their transmitting is indicated. A simulation balance model is being developed for a routing model in the spatial field of an industrial computer network. It implements the method of filtering and disaggregation of automated technological process control lines according to a group criterion (by the method of sets determination).The introduction of hardware control of the model of the authentication system of automated line devices using the method of data multiplexing and the apparatus of fuzzy mathematics is given, formalized and considered, taking into account the use of a cryptographic flow limiter (unidirectional hash function, which has an integrated address controlled impact).Authors generalize a probabilistic model for calculation of the efficiency and expediency of the functioning of this system for a four-loop motion control line. Calculation of the standard deviation and variance for the emulating output of the considered perceptron is given. In conclusion, a block diagram of the developed device is presented.
