Currently, the intensification of the processes of globalization and aggravation of competition for world sales markets causes a profound systemic transformation of external and internal conditions of economic activity in domestic enterprises. Under such conditions, the uncertainty of the environment becomes a characteristic feature of the modern economy and determines the need for modern approaches to the justification of the conceptual framework for managing the enterprise’s competitiveness in the context of the basic provisions of institutional theory and the evolutionary theory of economic change. The article substantiates approaches to uncertainty management as one of the basic determinants of enterprise competitiveness. The approach to the management of the competitiveness of an enterprise from the point of view of managing its dynamic abilities is considered. Is propose simultaneous use and retention of those existing and the development of the new competitive advantages, which will allow enterprise to achieve the success in the conditions of the high uncertainty of development. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In order to increase environmental sustainability and to address the issue of construction and demolition (C&D) wastes accumulation, this study investigates the feasibility of using recycled fine aggregates (RFA) as a substitute to fully replace fine silica sand (FSS) in the production strain-hardening ultra-high-performance concrete (SH-UHPC). Results showed that RFA-based SH-UHPC with hybrid fiber reinforcement achieved comparable compressive strength (over 100 MPa), and an impressive enhancement on tensile ductility by 68.3 %. Microstructural analyses via SEM, X-CT and microhardness test revealed that due to the lower intrinsic hardness of RFA more internal cracks were observed RFA-based SH-UHPC, indicating the role of RFA as active flaws in high strength matrix of SH-UHPC resulting in more saturated multiple cracking and enhanced strain-hardening behavior. In the end, the strategic utilization of RFA not only improves mechanical performance but also lowers overall environmental impacts, which highlights the sustainable and effective use of C&D wastes for developing greener high-performance construction materials.

Extensive research has shown that confining concrete structures with steel or fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) is an effective way of enhancing and restoring the strength and ductility of damaged concrete columns. However, an eccentric stress-strain model for pre-damaged and subsequently repaired concrete is not available for design of the repair works. This may be largely due to the compilations and nature of the problem. An experimental and analytical investigation previously unavailable is undertaken in this work to study the mechanical behavior of eccentrically loaded FRP-repaired predamaged concrete columns. The analytical study in this study examines and identifies the key parameters that affect the mechanical behavior of eccentrically loaded FRP-repaired concrete columns. Based on a comprehensive analysis of the test results, a new stress-strain model for the mechanical response of eccentrically loaded FRP-repaired concrete columns is developed. Test results further verify the proposed model. The new model thus established is capable of predicting the mechanical response of eccentrically loaded FRP-repaired concrete columns with good accuracy. © APFIS 2019. All right reserved.

The article presents a method for determining the deformations of the soil basement based field soils tests by 100-WD relaxation method. This method allows to increase the accuracy of the calculation of settlements foundations primarily by advancing the reliability of determining the deformation characteristics of soils in the field. The conclusion is made about the possibility and feasibility of using the proposed approach to improve the accuracy of predicting the settlements of structures. A comparative assessment of the results of the calculation of the deformations of the soil basements with observations of precipitation of the foundations of real buildings is performed. A mixed flow of two immiscible liquids may form drops of one liquid in the other. Deformation and breakup of drops occur when there is sufficient hydrodynamic or surface forces from the ambient liquid; such deformation and breakup of drops is a common phenomenon in various engineering applications, such as oil-water flow in the petroleum recovery industry [1, 2], stirred dispersions in the chemical industry [3,4], and melted metal and cooling liquid interactions in the nuclear industry [5, 6]. A typical simplified model for the mechanism study is the behaviours of a single drop against its surrounding liquid.

Limestone calcined clay cement ( LC 3 ), a low-carbon cementitious material, has demonstrated outstanding resistance to chloride ion penetration. However, the real environment is rich in many harmful ions beyond chloride ions, including sulfate and magnesium ions, making the interactions among these ions highly complex. This study systematically explores the impact of sulfate ions and the synergistic effects of sulfate and magnesium ions on the chloride ion transport properties and chloride ions binding capacity of LC 3 . The characteristics of phase assemblage, pore structure, and microstructure vary differently under different environments. Furthermore, a thermodynamic model was employed to determine the impact of ion concentration and type on the phase assemblage. The findings suggest that within LC 3 , sulfate ions significantly affect Friedel's salt stability, converting it into ettringite (Ett). In addition, sulfate ions can combine with monosulfate (Ms) or undergo ion exchange with hemicarboaluminate (Hc)/monocarboaluminate (Mc) to form Ett, refining the pore structure and reducing the diffusion coefficient of chloride ions. However, prolonged exposure leads to sample expansion, accelerating the diffusion rate of chloride ions. Furthermore, the duration of sulfate ion inhibition on chloride diffusion is associated with the content of calcium aluminate phases. The combined attack of sulfate and magnesium ions lead to C-(A)-S-H decalcification, generation of gypsum and brucite, and decomposition of Friedel's salt and Ett, which further degrades matrix and promotes chloride ion diffusion. However, reducing the clinker amount in LC 3 effectively enhances chloride binding capacity and reduces gypsum and brucite formation.

Microscopic scrutiny aids in alkali-activated materials’ (AAM) application in construction industry. This study delves into the pore structure and properties of one-part alkali-activated slag (AAS) mortar modified by carbon black (CB) and recycled carbon fiber (rCF). The additives enhanced flexural strength by 51.82% (12.16 MPa) with lower water absorption (10.24%). Refinement of pore size and reduction of connectivity are key factors in improving properties. The densification effect of CB and the strong interface between rCF and gel were observed. Furthermore, AAS mortars exhibited multifractal characteristics within the range of micropores and capillary pores. Despite altering fractal regions, the additives did not affect its size dependence. The backbone fractal dimension increases with the addition of CB and rCF, exhibiting strong correlations with various macro properties, thus serving as a comprehensive parameter to characterize pore shape and distribution. This study deepens understanding of AAM composites, facilitating their adoption of low-carbon building materials.

Formulation of Performance Levels and Relevant Limitations for Clay Brick Masonry Infills in Seismic Analysis of R/C Frame Structures

Observation of damage caused by recent earthquakes highlights, once again, that the presence of infills significantly affects the seismic response of reinforced concrete (R.C.) frame buildings. Therefore, in spite of the fact that infills are non-structural elements, and thus they are normally not considered in structural analyses, in many cases their contribution should not be neglected. Based on these observations, the study proposed in this paper consists in the evaluation of the seismic response of infills in time-history finite element analyses of R.C. frame structures by means of a two-element model, constituted by two diagonal nonlinear beams. A 'concrete'-type hysteretic model predicts the in-plane state of infills, through a force-displacement backbone curve expressly generated, and scanned in terms of performance limits, to this aim. This model is demonstratively applied to a real case study, i.e. a R.C. frame building including various types of brick masonry perimeter infills and internal partitions, damaged by the 30 October 2016 Central Italy earthquake. The time-histories seismic analyses carried out on it allows checking the influence of infills on the response of the structure, as well the effectiveness of the proposed model in reproducing the observed real damage on the masonry panels.

A method of compensation for trajectory instabilities of aviation radars with aperture synthesis is proposed. This method allows the further processing of the received signals to consider that the aircraft or the radar carrier is moving along a predetermined trajectory. The estimation of the relative instability of the generator frequency for the microwave range was obtained. It is determined that the exact compensation of trajectory instabilities by measuring this deviation and compensating for it by changing the time interval between the sensing pulses and the received signal is required for each inclined channel. An algorithm for calculating the radar inspection sub-band width is proposed. The use of the proposed method will provide the ability to achieve a resolution better than 4.. 8 meters in the radar synthesizing aperture in the fluctuations of the trajectory of motion of the radar carrier relative to the line of the specified path more than half the resolution almost regardless of the altitude, the degree of turbulence the operating speed and mass of the radar carrier. © 2019 IEEE.
