Open communication system in modern power systems brings concern about information staleness which may cause power system frequency *** information staleness is often characterized by communication ***,communication delay is a packet-centered metric and cannot reflect the requirement of information freshness for load frequency control(LFC).This paper introduces the age of information(AoI),which is more compre-hensive and informative than the conventional communication delay modeling *** LFC controller and com-munication are integrated into the design for LFC performance *** AoI-aware LFC model is formulated first,and considering each allowable update period of the smart sensor,different AoI-aware PI controllers are then designed according to the exponential decay *** right AoI-aware controller and update period are selected according to the degree of frequency fluctuation of the power *** studies are carried out on one-area and two-area power *** results show the superior performance of the AoI-aware controllers in comparison to the delay-dependent controllers.

Grasp detection plays a critical role for robot *** pixel-wise grasp detection networks with encoder-decoder structure receive much attention due to good accuracy and ***,they usually transmit the high-level feature in the encoder to the decoder,and low-level features are *** is noted that low-level features contain abundant detail information,and how to fully exploit low-level features remains ***,the channel information in high-level feature is also not well ***,the performance of grasp detection is *** solve these problems,we propose a grasp detection network with hierarchical multi-scale feature fusion and inverted shuffle *** low-level and high-level features in the encoder are firstly fused by the designed skip connections with attention module,and the fused information is then propagated to corresponding layers of the decoder for in-depth feature *** a hierarchical fusion guarantees the quality of grasp ***,an inverted shuffle residual module is created,where the high-level feature from encoder is split in channel and the resultant split features are processed in their respective *** such differentiation processing,more high-dimensional channel information is kept,which enhances the representation ability of the ***,an information enhancement module is added before the encoder to reinforce input *** proposed method attains 98.9%and 97.8%in image-wise and object-wise accuracy on the Cornell grasping dataset,respectively,and the experimental results verify the effectiveness of the method.

The power generation of bifacial photovoltaic modules is greatly related to the diffuse solar radiation component received by the rear side,but radiation component data are scarce in China,where bifacial solar market is *** components can be estimated from satellite data,but sufficient ground truth data are needed for calibrating empirical methods or training machine learning *** this work,a data-augmented machine learning method was proposed to estimate radiation *** of using observed ground truth,far more abundant radiation component data derived from sunshine duration measured at 2,453 routine weather stations in China were used to augment samples for training a machine-learning-based *** inputs of the model include solar radiation(either from ground observation or satellite remote sensing)and surface meteorological *** validation of the model at Chinese stations and globally distributed stations demonstrates its effectiveness and *** a state-of-the-art satellite product of solar radiation as input,the model is applied to construct a satellite-based radiation component dataset over *** new dataset not only outperforms mainstream radiation component datasets,but also has significantly higher accuracy than satellite-based datasets derived from other machine learning methods trained with limited observations,indicating the superiority of our data-augmented *** principle,this model can be applied on the global scale without additional training with local data.

Although the frequency of ancient hybridization across the Tree of Life is greater than previously thought, little work has been devoted to uncovering the extent, timeline, and geographic and ecological context of ancient hybridization. Using an expansive new dataset of nuclear and chloroplast DNA sequences, we conducted a multifaceted phylogenomic investigation to identify ancient reticulation in the early evolution of oaks(Quercus). We document extensive nuclear gene tree and cytonuclear discordance among major lineages of Quercus and relatives in Quercoideae. Our analyses recovered clear signatures of gene flow against a backdrop of rampant incomplete lineage sorting, with gene flow most prevalent among major lineages of Quercus and relatives in Quercoideae during their initial radiation, dated to the Early-Middle Eocene. Ancestral reconstructions including fossils suggest ancestors of Castanea + Castanopsis, Lithocarpus, and the Old World oak clade probably co-occurred in North America and Eurasia, while the ancestors of Chrysolepis, Notholithocarpus, and the New World oak clade co-occurred in North America, offering ample opportunity for hybridization in each *** study shows that hybridization—perhaps in the form of ancient syngameons like those seen today—has been a common and important process throughout the evolutionary history of oaks and their relatives. Concomitantly, this study provides a methodological framework for detecting ancient hybridization in other groups.

Acoustic propagation uncertainty in internal wave environments using an ocean-acoustic joint model

An ocean-acoustic joint model is developed for research of acoustic propagation uncertainty in internal wave *** internal waves are numerically produced by tidal forcing over a continental slope using an ocean *** parameters(i.e.,internal wave,source depth,and water depth)contribute to the dynamic waveguide environments,and result in stochastic sound *** sensitivity of the transmission loss(TL)to environment parameters,statistical characteristics of the TL variation,and the associated physical mechanisms are investigated by the Sobol sensitivity analysis method,the Monte Carlo sampling,and the coupled normal mode theory,*** results show that the TL is most sensitive to the source depth in the near field,resulted from the initial amplitudes of higher-order modes;while in middle and far fields,the internal waves are responsible for more than 80%of the total acoustic propagation *** addition,the standard deviation of the TL in the near field and the shallow layer is smaller than those in the middle and far fields and the deep layer.

The snap-through behaviors and nonlinear vibrations are investigated for a bistable composite laminated cantilever shell subjected to transversal foundation excitation based on experimental and theoretical *** improved experimental specimen is designed in order to satisfy the cantilever support boundary condition,which is composed of an asymmetric region and a symmetric *** symmetric region of the experimental specimen is entirely clamped,which is rigidly connected to an electromagnetic shaker,while the asymmetric region remains free of *** motion paths are realized for the bistable cantilever shell by changing the input signal levels of the electromagnetic shaker,and the displacement responses of the shell are collected by the laser displacement *** numerical simulation is conducted based on the established theoretical model of the bistable composite laminated cantilever shell,and an off-axis three-dimensional dynamic snap-through domain is *** numerical solutions are in good agreement with the experimental *** nonlinear stiffness characteristics,dynamic snap-through domain,and chaos and bifurcation behaviors of the shell are quantitatively *** to the asymmetry of the boundary condition and the shell,the upper stable-state of the shell exhibits an obvious soft spring stiffness characteristic,and the lower stable-state shows a linear stiffness characteristic of the shell.
